Daniel caught a whiff of jealousy and sighed. He paced around the room several times before finally asking. “Dad, did you and Mom get a divorce?”
“Do you even know what a divorce is?”
Isaac squatted down. He hadn’t spent much time with Daniel, but now that he took a closer look and noticed Daniel was smarter than other kids his age.

Daniel climbed onto the couch,, ‘Divorce means breaking up. It means you won’t live together anymore, won’t sleep in the same bed, and won’t take family portraits with me.
The teacher said many people get divorced these days. We need to learn to deal with goodbyes.”
“Your mom and I didn’t get a divorce, Isaac shook his head, “We’re just having some issues, so we’re taking a break.”
He paused, “One day, I’ll bring her back”
Daniel of course hoped his parents would always be together. That way, he’d always be a child with a mom.

Isaac didn’t know much about Daniel. For the past five years, he’d been working most of the time and didn’t know what Daniel liked or disliked.

Isaac softened and scooped him up. Daniel immediately clung to his shirt, inhaling his scent deeply before breaking into a satisfied grin.
Daniel couldn’t stay long

“He said he’s an old friend.”
The assistant shook her head, clearly clueless as to who he was.
“Alright, got it.”
Brittany couldn’t think of any old friends she had in this city.
As she opened the office door, the person inside stood up, “Ms. Dustin, long time no see.”
Brittany’s hand on the doorknob froze as she incredulously stared at the man standing not far away.
That’s Matthew, the professional manager William chose to take over the Dustin Group after her accident five years ago.
Brittany hadn’t been in touch with Matthew for five years, but every year she’d receive a hefty sum from the Dustin Group’s dividends. Matthew saw Brittany’s surprised face and asked with a soft smile, “Are you really that shocked?”
“Matthew, why are you suddenly here?”
Brittany hadn’t anticipated Matthew’s sudden appearance.
Matthew chuckled, “You’re back in Imperial City, Ms. Dustin. It’s time for you to take over the Dustin Group. I’ve been a regular employee for five years.”
Brittany hadn’t expected Matthew to be here for the Dustin Group.
“Ms. Dustin, we agreed before that I was only managing the Dustin Group on your behalf. It’s time I return it to you.”
