Chapter 605

Brittany was taken aback. “Of course not.”

“William, the wedding night didn’t go as you thought.” Brittany looked at his pale face, feeling heartbroken, and quickly explained the situation. “I really don’t know what happened. I didn’t plan to get back with him, and I never thought to disgrace the Dillion family.”

After hearing her explanation, William breathed a sigh of relief, not quite getting what was going on.

“Bri, I know you’re not that kind of person.” Trust filled William’s eyes. “It’s my fault. I didn’t protect you. You had to face all the ridicule and bullying alone, and I wasn’t even there for you.”

He’d been practically locked up at the Dillion family house this past week. He was under surveillance 24/7, unable to get away.

All his communication devices were confiscated, so he wasn’t even able to pass on any messages.

William noticed that Brittany’s eyes were glistening with tears; he couldn’t hold back any longer and hugged her. “It’s okay. It’s okay; I’m not blaming you.”

Brittany burst into tears. “William, I’m sorry. I messed up…”

William gently stroked her hair, his voice soft. “Bri, it’s not your fault.”

William just felt sad. He had finally gotten Brittany to open up, but then this happened. The Dillion family would never accept them now. He couldn’t leave the Dillion family.

But he didn’t want to be apart from Brittany.

Brittany cried even harder. Her eyes were wet, and her lashes were heavy with tears; it was like she was completely shrouded in

sadness.

“Ms. Dustin.”

Timothy interrupted them.

Brittany instinctively stopped crying and looked at Timothy.

William immediately stood in front of her. “Dad, when did you get back?”

Timothy was supposed to be elsewhere today. Why did he come back all of a sudden?

Was it because of Olivia?

Timothy gave William a cold glance. “Shut up!”

William pressed his lips together.

“Ms. Dustin, let’s talk.”

Timothy’s attitude was relatively amiable. Brittany knew she couldn’t avoid this conversation. “Okay.”

“Dad, if there’s something you want to say, just say it. Don’t make it hard for…”

Timothy raised his hand and slapped William, his eyes full of anger. “William, shut up, or I won’t be polite!”

William took the slap but still stood in front of Brittany.

“William, let me talk to Timothy.”

Brittany couldn’t stand seeing William’s swollen cheek and spoke up.

Timothy went upstairs.

William pulled Brittany back. “If my dad says anything harsh, don’t take it to heart. I’ll try to convince them as much as I can.”

Brittany gave him a faint smile. “I know.”

She had seen all sorts of things over the years and was confident Timothy wouldn’t lay a hand on her.

William was still worried, so he followed her upstairs.

When they reached the study door, Brittany stopped him. “Wait for me here.”

William nodded.

Brittany pushed open the study door, and Timothy looked at her. “Ms. Dustin, are you feeling better?”

“Thank you for your concern; I’m much better.”

Timothy took a stack of documents from the drawer and pushed them toward Brittany. “Ms. Dustin, you invested in the Dillion Group before and helped us through a tough time. We’re very grateful for that. I’d like to buy your shares at a price 30% above market-value. Are

you willing to sell them to me?”

It was clear that Timothy really didn’t want Brittany to be his daughter-in-law. But he also didn’t want things to turn awkward.
