Brittany had never heard of such an event before, so she inquired, “Can I be the only one to accompany Daniel?”
“Ms. Dustin, it’s a family fun day. It’s meant for families.”
Emily knew that Brittany hadn’t completely forgiven Isaac yet. She also knew that she was overstepping her bounds. But all the other children’s parents would be
there, and Daniel hadn’t even mentioned it.
He was young, but he knew. He understood the tension between his mom and dad and that they wouldn’t agree to attend such an event together. He was scared of rejection, so he didn’t dare to even ask them to go along with him.
“Daniel really wishes you could attend the event with him. All these years, he didn’t have a moment of warmth like this.”
Brittany suddenly remembered her own childhood. Didn’t she also yearn for her parents to spend more time with her, even if it was for the most trivial of things?
“I understand. I’ll try to manage time.”
Brittany hung up the phone, got up, and left with her secretary to meet with a client.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Wesley was already there, as nonchalant as ever.
“You’re here.”
“Mr. Tueley, long time no see.”
Brittany entered the private dining room, greeted Wesley, and the party sat down.
Five years had passed since they last discussed a collaboration. Brittany could tell that Wesley had become more difficult to deal with.
Luckily, she had prepared for all sorts of situations. The negotiation went relatively smoothly.
After nearly three hours of discussion, Wesley said that he would consider the proposal.
Brittany watched Wesley leave, breathing a sigh of relief.
“Do you think Mr. Tueley will agree?” The secretary didn’t think Wesley was as laid-back as he seemed. He seemed to have an ambitious streak.

“He certainly will.” Brittany understood Wesley. He was a shrewd businessman.
If the profit was only ten percent, he might hesitate.
But if it was thirty percent, he wouldn’t hesitate at all.
Seeing Brittany so confident, the secretary felt reassured, “Ms: Dustin, you mentioned you wanted to inspect a property this weekend.”
“I need this weekend off.” Brittany thought about Daniel’s Parent-Child Sports Day, massaging her temples, “Try not to schedule any work for me on the weekends.
The secretary was relieved. She had wanted to suggest exactly that for a while but never dared to,
“Of course, Ms. Dustin.”
When Brittany returned to Radiant Residences in the evening, Daniel was surprised to hear that she would accompany him to Parent-Child Sports Day.
“Mom, you’re really going to come with me?”
Brittany looked into his shining eyes, feeling a bit dazed as she reassured him, “Yes, I’ll be there with you.”
Daniel let out a whoop, hugging Brittany’s neck and giving her a soft kiss, “Then I’m going to win the trophy!”
Brittany chuckled helplessly and teasingly said, “Honey, we go there to have fun, not just to win a trophy.”
Daniel looked skeptical as he said, “But Dad says we should always do our best. If we can’t, then we shouldn’t try at all.”
Brittany fell silent.
Isaac was a perfectionist. He instilled the same values in their child.
“Your dad isn’t entirely right or wrong. We should give our all to everything we do, but not focus on the result. We should enjoy the process, understand?” Brittany had been absent for five whole years. She wanted to make Daniel’s life as joyful as possible, not turn him into a perfect heir, just like Isaac.
When Isaac came home, it was already late.
Upon seeing him, Daniel instinctively stood up and excitedly said, “Dad!”
Isaac merely nodded, “Why are you still awake?”
