Chapter 717

William was always the epitome of charm, never once losing his temper in public. Even when he was cornered into a marriage he didn’t want, not once did he show a shadow of anger.

As soon as she heard that, Carla realized she had spoken out of line and quickly tried to backpedal, “William, I didn’t mean it that way…”

Carta felt that it was all Brittany’s fault. If Brittany hadn’t shown up, Carla wouldn’t have said something so wrong. She wouldn’t have said something that could have potentially upset William.

‘Brittany, why can’t she just vanish!’ Carla thought bitterly.

William brushed off her hand, “Carla, if you want to continue with our marriage, stop making a scene. If not, we can get a divorce. I can assist with the police investigation. I don’t care about my reputation.”

Carla turned pale as a ghost.

William hadn’t intended to drag Brittany into such a mess. He apologized to Brittany and quickly left the scene.

“Brittany, I’m warning you, stop seducing William!” Carla yelled before scurrying after William, “William, wait for me. I’m sorry, don’t go…”

The group of women watched the spectacle with a strange look in their eyes.

Wasn’t it William who was supposed to be the one begging Carla?

Why was Carla acting so desperate, as if she was afraid of a divorce?

Could it be that the seemingly refined William was a smooth operator?

“Carla has left. Why are you still here?” Hannah asked, arriving late.

“We’re leaving now.” Giving each other a look, the women finally decided to leave.

The guests didn’t seem to mind the small incident and quickly moved on. The party continued as normal, with the music setting the mood.

Once everyone had left, Hannah turned to Brittany before asking, “Did Carla give you a hard time?”

Brittany sighed, “Not really a hard time. It was just a bit annoying.”

She decided that she needed to limit her contact with William. They were just friends, but Carla’s constant suspicion and tantrums were causing unnecessary trouble.

The Chester family arrived, and Brittany went over to greet them with Hannah.

“Bri.”

Lionel Chester and Moon Barton were sitting together, looking like a match made in heaven.

“Bro, sis-in-law.”

After exchanging greetings, Brittany and Hannah sat down, only to hear a commotion from not too far away.

“Isn’t that Mr. Salter?”

“Isaac was kicked out of Grandeur Capital a long time ago. Why is he still being called Mr. Salter?”

Someone loudly pointed out. Brittany recognized the man as someone who had previously wanted to collaborate with Grandeur Capital but was ruthlessly rejected by Isaac.

At the entrance, Isaac was looking as handsome as ever in his black suit. His sharp aura was undiminished.

Nathan, who was standing behind him, looked displeased upon hearing the whispers.

“Mr. Salter, these people are being too disrespectful!” Nathan complained.

Isaac, who had a rough childhood, was unperturbed by the comments.

“Let’s not dwell on insignificant matters.”

He led Nathan upstairs, heading straight for Joseph’s lounge.

“Bri, what is Isaac doing here?” Hannah asked, surprised.

Brittany shook her head, “I don’t know.”

Hannah was about to continue, but Tanya interrupted her, “Hannah, zip it.”

They were at a party, and not a tabloid gossip column, after all!

Hannah reluctantly shut her mouth.

Isaac’s arrival certainly piqued the interest of many, with some wondering if he was here to offer congratulations or stir up trouble.

But contrary to expectation, Isaac soon descended the stairs. His handsome features and regal demeanor showed no signs of the recent upheaval, even silencing those who had been speaking ill of

him earlier.

Through the sea of people, Brittany happened to lock eyes with Isaac. For some reason, she felt a pang of guilt and quickly looked away.
