Isaac shook his head, “Why would I take Daniel? Even if I wanted to meet him, I would have told you in advance.”
Brittany’s hand loosened, her face pale as a ghost. “Daniel is missing…”

She stumbled backward, trembling as she took out her phone to call Hannah. “Hannah, help me find Daniel!”
Isaac also panicked, following close behind her. He called Nathan, “Check the kindergarten’s surveillance!”
With Daniel missing, Brittany felt like she had lost her anchor. She was so distraught that she could hardly walk straight.
Seeing her like that, Isaac couldn’t help but step forward to catch her.
Brittany struggled.
Isaac, strong as an ox, held her waist firmly. “Don’t move. It’s better if we search together than if you go alone.”
Hearing that, Brittany stopped resisting.
Isaac put Brittany into the car, leaning over to fasten her seat belt before driving off towards the kindergarten.
Brittany didn’t say a word the whole way. Her body shook as she stared out the window.
When they arrived at the kindergarten, the principal and teachers were already waiting outside.
“Ms. Dustin, we’re sorry. We failed to protect Kyle, and he was picked up by someone else,” they admitted.
Brittany, eyes red, demanded, “Check the surveillance.”
The principal, wary of Brittany’s influence, reluctantly handed over the surveillance footage. The video showed that a young woman had taken away Daniel.
Brittany didn’t recognize the woman, but Isaac knew her as one of Leda’s people.
Why would they target Daniel?
Brittany rushed back to the car, while Isaac shooting a dark look at the principal. “If you can’t give us a satisfactory explanation for this, I won’t let you off easy!”
After his threat, Isaac followed Brittany.
Brittany was so worried about Daniel that her hands were shaking as she drove.
Isaac wanted to take over driving, but she pushed him away, her eyes flaming. “Isaac can’t you keep your problems with the Salter family away from me and my
son?”
It happened again.
Five years prior, she was dragged into the mess with the Salter family, and then Daniel was being pulled into it as well.
What had she done wrong to deserve to live under Isaac’s shadow, to be manipulated by the Salter family?
Brittany’s words left Isaac feeling like he was plunging into icy water.
His lips trembled slightly. “…”.
Brittany didn’t want to hear his excuses. She floored the gas pedal, driving straight for Salter Villa.
“Don’t come near me!” Daniel cowered on the couch, his small body shaking.
Standing in front of him was Nova, holding a doll. Her little face was pale and upset. “Don’t be like this. I just want to play with you.”
Daniel’s eyes were red, “Go away! I want my mom!”
Nova approached him, trying to win him over with the doll in her hand. “Daniel, I’ll give you the doll. Will you play with me then?”
“Smack!”
Daniel slapped the doll out of Nova’s hand, his eyes filled with disgust. “Go away! Don’t touch me!”
Nova’s hand was instantly red from the slap. She huddled in pain, her eyes welling up with tears.
When Leda went downstairs and saw the two children standing off, she noticed Nova’s reddened hand. She was filled with rage.
She slapped Daniel across the face, “What kind of parents do you have? Did they not teach you to be nice to your sister?”
Daniel was stunned by the slap, tears welling up in his eyes.
Daniel’s skin was tender, and Leda’s slap was hard. His little face swelled up instantly, and a small cut appeared on the corner of his mouth. Blood trickled down his mouth, making him look pitiful.
Nova was also frightened. She tugged at Leda’s sleeve, “Grandma, stop hitting him. Don’t hit Daniel.”
Leda didn’t care about Nova at all. She just wanted to use that as an excuse to punish Daniel!
