Nathan stood by her side, holding her small hand in his larger hand. “Don’t worry too much; we’ll find her.”
Tears uncontrollably streamed down Kari’s face.
Isaac’s mood was deteriorating. It was like he was walking on a tightrope; his entire mental state was teetering on the edge, but he desperately tried to stay composed.
The area was like a labyrinth of warehouses. A team of police officers, accompanied by Isaac’s men, split up and searched for over three hours, but there was no sign of Brittany.
Isaac’s face grew more and more grim. Kari even stopped crying and joined the search party.
In the fourth hour, they found a clue. In the most remote part of the warehouse, a set of footprints was discovered.
“There’s someone here!” The police officers raised their voices in excitement as they examined the deepening footprints. Isaac rushed over.
Finally, a police officer screamed out. “It’s the freezer!”
Isaac’s eyes narrowed. “What are you waiting for?! Break down the door!”
The heavy door separated Brittany from the outside world.
At Isaac’s command, the police officers and bodyguards charged forward, forcefully breaking open the door.
A blast of icy air hit them, and Isaac quickly stepped forward.
Before Kari could get a clear view, Isaac had disappeared.
Then, from inside the freezer, a furious shout rang out. “Notify the hospital immediately!”
“Yes, sir.” Nathan immediately informed the doctors of the emergency.
Isaac emerged from the freezer, carrying an unconscious Brittany. Her body was almost frozen.
Her long eyelashes were frosted over, her lips were white, and her face was pale. She appeared lifeless.
Kari’s vision went black, and she fainted.
Nathan, now holding Kari, followed behind.
The police left some officers at the scene, intending to investigate the person behind this.
Isaac, holding Brittany, got into the car and ordered the driver to start the engine. He took off his overcoat and draped it over Brittany in an attempt to warm her.
Brittany’s fingers were freezing, and she was trembling unconsciously.
Isaac, who was holding her, also felt the cold. His fingertips went numb.
The car sped off.
“Drive faster!” Isaac snapped.
The driver stepped on the gas, and the car sped away.
Under the dark night sky on the highway, the car was like an arrow shot into the dense darkness.
Suddenly, a large truck came rushing straight towards them. The driver slammed on the brakes, but the truck seemed to be out of control. Bright lights flashed in their windshield.
Isaac didn’t even have time to think. He just felt the car vibrate strongly and move uncontrollably.
The two vehicles collided. The car almost crashed into the guardrail, and the truck flipped over.
Nathan, following behind, widened his eyes in shock. “Mr. Salter!”
Nathan stopped his car, got out, and sprinted to Isaac’s car.
The entire car was almost flattened. The smell of gasoline mixed with the scent of smoke, which was emanating from the wreckage.
“What are you waiting for? Get them out!”
At Nathan’s command, the bodyguards rushed forward.
The car was severely damaged. They had no choice but to smash the window and pull Isaac and Brittany out.
Isaac had taken the brunt of the impact, so Brittany was still shivering in his arms.
The ambulance arrived, and both were taken away.
Kari rushed to the hospital too.
Brittany was in critical condition, and Isaac’s situation was equally as dire.
He had a head injury, severe blood loss, and multiple fractures all over his body. They suspected that even his internal organs were damaged.
