Chapter 873

Word had just come in.

Lately, Joie had been quiet. Too quiet. Her bodyguards, a vigilant bunch, grew anxious in the silence.

All day, not a whisper.

Eventually, the bodyguards cracked the door open, only to find Joie had vanished without a trace.

Despite combing through the building’s surveillance footage, they found nothing – Joie seemed to have

disappeared into thin air.

The bodyguards, unable to keep this under wraps, promptly spilled the news to Nathan without delay.

Isaac’s face went pale, pulling away from the midst of chattering guests.

“Missing?”

“Yes, Sir. Checked the cameras. Nothing.”

How does a living, breathing person just vanish into thin air?

Clearly, someone tampered with the cameras.

“She’s injured. She can’t have gone far,” Isaac’s voice was a low growl. “Search!”

Nathan was on it, like a hound on a scent.

Isaac couldn’t spook the others; he needed to maintain his composure. Returning to Grace, he forced a

smile and engaged in small talk.

Half an hour later, Grace, fidgeting in her seat, asked, “Zac, where’s Bri? She’s been to the bathroom

forever. What’s taking her so long?”

Isaac’s gut twisted with a growing suspicion. Rising abruptly, he said, “I’ll check on her.”

Joie couldn’t have infiltrated the Salter Manor, could she?

As Isaac left, guests swarmed Grace, offering warm but empty words of comfort, to which she

managed only a tight-lipped smile.

Isaac went straight towards the ladies’ room and knocked.

“Bri?”

Silence followed, causing his heart to clench.

Had Jole really broken in?

Tensing, Isaac prepared to break down the door.

Then, a click.

Just as he was about to strike, Brittany emerged, surprised at his stance.

“Zakky, what’s wrong?”

Isaac relaxed upon seeing her unharmed. “You were gone so long, I worried.”

Brittany rolled her eyes. “I’m not a child, Zak. Let’s go back in.”

Isaac wrapped an arm around her waist, thumbing a message to Nathan to sweep the Salter Manor

from top to bottom.

The garden buzzed with guests, who engulfed Brittany and Isaac in attention upon their return.

After nearly an hour, Brittany was flushed from drinks, her petite face rosy, her senses dulled.

Noticing her state, Isaac excused them and led her aside, ordering a maid for a bowl of hangover soup.

Brittany was struggling, visibly shaking.

Isaac massaged her gently, trying to ease her discomfort.

“The hangover soup, Sir.”

The maid approached, carrying the soup. Isaac took the bowl, blowing on it to cool it before bringing

the spoon to Brittany’s lips.

Beneath the thick layer of makeup on the maid’s face, her eyes glinted with malice.

If Isaac had been more attentive, he might have noticed how peculiar the maid looked, with her bangs

hiding her eyes and her expression bizarre.

But Isaac had eyes only for Brittany.

Joie, heart pounding, clenched her fist. Drink it down!

The soup was spiked with a potent, addictive drug. One sip and Brittany would be ensnared for life.

Brittany, scenting ginger, recoiled.

Tossing in her seat, she knocked the bowl, spilling its contents all over.

Joie’s plan was thwarted; she bit her lip and bent to pick up the pieces.

“Wait…” Cradling Brittany, Isaac caught a glimpse of a familiar pair of hands. Instinctively, he bellowed,

“Nathan!”

Joie’s heart skipped a beat. She’d been caught!

Quick as a flash, she grabbed a shard, her face twisted in a savage grin, and lunged at Brittany.

“Brittany, go to hell!”

Brittany, slowed down by the effects of alcohol, felt a terrifying emptiness. She couldn’t move or react.
