Chapter 211

Penelope put on a show of being wronged, saying, “Allison, you’ve totally got me wrong. It was Nathalie who asked all those questions. She was the one who suggested the game.” She didn’t dare offend Allison openly. Ever since Leah Flanagan–Eaden’s medication swap was discovered by Allison, Allison had become a loose cannon.

The old Allison would never dare talk to Penelope like this.

Penelope decided to play weak first, then slowly find Allison’s weak spots.

“Allison, we grew up together. Sure, we’ve had our share of fights, but remember when I gave you twenty grand to help Grace Zimmer–Kane? You needed the money; I wanted to marry Lucian. It was a win–win, right? If you have a thing for Jason, I don’t mind; we’re not at odds.” Seeing Allison leaning against the railing in silence, she continued to soothe, “Once I’m married to Lucian, I’ll help you reunite with your mom; how about that?”

Allison slowly lifted her eyes.

Penelope went on, “Your mom is now on the best medication. She’s doing well; she’s awake.”

Penelope knew Grace was Allison’s Achilles heel. Secing Allison’s emotions waver, she immediately continued, “Allison, as long as I marry into the Lindbergh family, your mother will be safe. Once I become Lucian’s wife, I’ll give you and Grace a chunk of change to get you two out of here. How about that?”

Allison looked at Penelope. She didn’t trust her, but she didn’t want to piss her off either. She and Adrian would find a way to save her mother. Allison leaned against the railing. The sea breeze on her hot face was soothing. She closed her eyes and said nothing.

Seeing Allison silent, Penelope called out, “Hey!”

When the yacht docked, Penelope told the driver, “Drop her off on the bench in front of the hotel, then take me back to the beach.” The driver hesitated, “Is that okay?”

“What’s not okay?”

Allison sat at the hotel entrance for a few minutes before getting up. She looked around at the luxurious hotel.

The sea breeze was stronger in the center of the island. Her hair was a mess. She went to the giant cruise ship “The Star” parked

next to the island. It was also a playground for guests. At this moment, only a few socialites were there.

These socialites were strangers to Allison. They didn’t chat much; they only asked, “Did you go to the beach? Is it fun?”

Allison shook her head. Not fun.

“I think you might be drunk,” one girl said gently. “Come sit down.”

She noticed Allison’s beautiful blue dress looked average in quality. She guessed Allison was probably from an ordinary wealthy family, not part of the upper crust, which would explain why she hadn’t gone to the beach.
