Chapter 423

What were the odds.

For a maid like Allison, this restaurant wasn’t exactly upscale, but it was not affordable either. What was she doing eating here?

She didn’t like Penelope, but she was not against her brother being with Allison. At least Allison was better than Penelope.

Despite Penelope saving her mother, she just can’t accept her. Since Penelope set her up to drug Aidan so they could spend time in the same room together, Aidan had instead become more distant from her.

She texted Aidan but he never replied. She invited him to go to the movies, but he always found an excuse not to go. Did Aidan not like her at all?

9 o’clock.

Allison came home and Grace was still awake. She was sitting on the couch knitting a scarf. It was a light pink one. When she saw Allison, she was a bit taken aback.

“Allie, you’re home.”

Allison took off her coat and hung it up. She headed to her room, changed her clothes, and then came back to the living room.

Allison saw that Grace had put away the yarn in a basket underneath the coffee table. It seemed like she was not planning on knitting/ anymore. It was a very ordinary action, but for some reason, Allison felt a bit strange.

The scarf didn’t seem to be for her.

“Mom, you called me saying you wanted grapes. I bought some for you, I’ll go wash them in the

“Allie, I have this friend. She has a distant relative who’s quite handsome and has a good job. He’s a teacher at a middle school in Northfield and is 6 years older than you. He may be a bit older, but he has a stable job. You should meet him when you have the chance.”

Allison was in the kitchen washing the grapes. She was being very meticulous about it. When she heard Grace’s words, she hesitated a bit, “Mom, I don’t want to think about that right now.”

Grace said, “You’re still young, just graduated. But this guy has a stable job and he is good-looking. I’ve seen his picture, he’s very refined and a math teacher. His star sign even matches yours.”

Allison didn’t respond. She kept washing the grapes, as if all her attention was on them.

Grace stood at the kitchen doorway and continued, “Allie, you know about my health. I want to see you have a happy family while I’m still alive.”

“Mom, I quit my job at Red Jack Club and signed with Epic Entertainment. I’ve been filming all week. I’ll work hard to make money, you’ll definitely be healthy.”

“You signed with which company?” Grace seemed a bit surprised.

Allison finished washing the grapes, put them in a bowl, and turned to look at Grace, “Epic Entertainment.”

Grace’s expression changed a bit, “Allie, why do you want to enter the entertainment industry? It’s very complicated. I just hope you can find a normal job.”

“When I was working at Red Jack Club, I met a director. He thought I had a talent for acting, so I wanted to try it out. So far, it’s been good.” Allison walked over and gently held Grace’s hand, “The

entertainment industry isn’t as scary as I thought, mom. Have some grapes, you love these.”

Seeing Allison’s firm attitude, Grace didn’t say anything more, but she seemed to have something else to say.

Then they headed into the living room.

Allison sat on the couch and started watching a movie that director Cathy had recommended before.
