Chapter 1074

Even though Thalassa’s phone didn’t have Bruce’s number saved, she recognized the last digits flashing on the screen and knew who was calling.

What on earth did Bruce want now?

She remembered the day Bruce had worked with Daniel to kidnap her. In a desperate move to prevent Bruce from releasing that damning video of Evelyn, Thalassa had done everything in her power to keep Bruce’s involvement under wraps.

Eventually, Lysander found out, but it was through his own investigation, not her doing.

Could it be that Lysander had made his move, getting the cops to nab Bruce? Was this call a desperate plea for help?

With speculation swirling in her mind and the relentless vibration of the incoming call setting her nerves on edge, Thalassa felt a tide of unease wash over her. She really didn’t want to answer, full of loathing for the man she deemed scum. But the persistent flashing of those digits was like a siren call, impossible to ignore.

Taking a deep breath, her finger swiped the screen at the very last second before the call would drop.

Silence hung in the virtual space until Bruce’s icy voice cut through, “Thalassa, have you been messing with my phone?”

Bruce’s sinister question froze Thalassa’s breath in her throat. She now knew why he had called.

It seemed he had realized the video was missing from his phone.

After merely a day and night, he noticed the video in his phone had disappeared.

Who in their right mind regularly checks such content?

She felt a wave of nausea at the memory of Atticus hacking into Bruce’s home security system, where they saw Bruce leering at his computer screen. Disgust and hatred churned within her-Bruce was no ordinary man; he was a sick freak!

The very thought that he’d likely been watching that video regularly to satiate his twisted desires made her skin crawl.

“Isn’t that just hilarious,” she spat out, teeth clenched. “Your phone’s glued to you 24/7. How would I even touch it? Oh, I’d love to get my hands on your phone alright, to delete that video so you could never threaten me again!”

She wasn’t about to confess, but she was done being bullied by Bruce.

Bruce, hearing the defiance in Thalassa’s voice, sensed something was off. His phone was his shadow, always with him because it held many secrets-secrets that couldn’t be exposed, especially not to his wife, Lucy.

He was always extra careful with his phone, keeping it close to guard against Lucy’s prying eyes.

If Lucy couldn’t get her hands on his phone, what chance did Thalassa have?

And it wasn’t just the phone; the video on his computer had vanished too.

The last time Thalassa had been in his house, she’d been under his watchful eye, confined to the living room and never venturing near his study, let alone his computer.

So, it wasn’t Thalassa who had deleted the videos from his phone and computer?

How then did they disappear?

Could Lucy be behind this?

Realizing that Thalassa remained unaware of the missing video, Bruce abruptly adopted a falsely genial tone. “Calm down, dear. You may not be my daughter, but you are, after all, the daughter of a woman I once loved. That makes you family. Why would I threaten you?”

“Shut your mouth!” Thalassa snapped back, her breathing jagged with fury, her hand trembling with rage as she gripped the phone. She wished she could confront Bruce right then and there and put an end to the despicable creature he was.
