Lysander gazed into Thalassa’s eyes, depths swirling with a kind of moist turbulence.

His voice was husky as water, his lips grazing hers with the teasing promise of a predator before the

pounce-sensual, dangerous, deadly.

“What’s running through that pretty little head of yours? Did I say I was going to do anything?”

Lysander’s virile scent wrapped around Thalassa’s lips, making her body shiver.

She clutched at his shirt, her fingers gripping the fabric over his chest. “Aren’t you just torturing

yourself?”

Playing with fire and yet not allowing themselves to get burned, wasn’t he the one who would suffer?

Men usually bear the brunt of these half-finished games.

“I’m quite content,” Lysander murmured before catching her flushed lip between his teeth, his breath

growing heavy.

Thalassa trembled under his teasing, a delicious sensation uncontrollably spreading throughout her

body, making her breathing tighten.

“If you don’t get back, the kids will start their fussing again. If you took them away just to make them

unhappy, then you might as well give them back to me.” Her voice wavered, betraying a softness she

hadn’t noticed.

Lysander bit her lip a little harder, a punitive nip.

“Ouch…” Thalassa winced, her body contracting as she glared at him.

“What devious thoughts are you entertaining now, hm?” His deep, intense gaze seemed to punish as it

bore down on her.

Thalassa’s eyes were bright, brimming with defiance as she met his gaze. “When have t ever

entertained devious thoughts?”

“Give the kids back to you so you can continue to run away with them?” Lysander’s voice drew out the

question provocatively.

She paused, her determined gaze flickering, blinking rapidly. “That’s not what I was thinking.”

“It better not be,” Lysander said, his index finger tilting her chin upward.

“Don’t change the subject. I want you to go back. As their mother, I’d have to be

hospitalized to not be with them, and with you, their father, not at home, they’ll be distressed.”

Thalassa’s heart clenched at the thought of her little ones with teary eyes, crying for their parents.

“Don’t worry, they’re already asleep,” Lysander finally addressed her concern directly.

“Asleep?” Thalassa was surprised.

“Mhm.” Lysander’s voice was so low and magnetic that it seemed to drip with honey, his eyes lingering

on her blushing lips, her sea-glass eyes, her pale cheeks. His Adam’s apple bobbed.

Thalassa was damnably enticing; he wanted nothing more than to devour this little temptress, to show

her his strength, to make her soft, to make her cry.

However, remembering the child she carried, he forcefully curbed the heat coursing through him, the

pounding in his chest.

“I still need an answer to my earlier question,” Lysander’s deep gaze softened as he looked into her

eyes.

Thalassa’s pupils flickered, her heart skipping a beat.

She didn’t speak immediately; instead, she held his gaze steadily. His chiseled face was enigmatic in

the dim light, his expression serious and intense.

It seemed she had no escape from his question.

Had she tried to sidestep the topic only to be cornered?

Did he really want to see her squirm, to have her reveal her mother’s involvement with Bruce?

“I respect my mother’s wishes,” Thalassa replied, her gaze dropping, no longer meeting his.

“Are you afraid that I might find out?” Lysander’s finger continued to lift her chin, forcing her to look at

him, refusing to let her hide.
