Chapter 1226

Lysander didn’t respond, his attention seemingly glued to the contract in his hands.

Ethan didn’t get an immediate answer, but the rustle of papers through the receiver was a dead

giveaway-Lysander was scrutinizing the document.

Undeterred, Ethan continued, “I took your advice and jacked up the prices on those old Crawley Group

computers. The market’s dead-nobody’s biting. We’re sitting on a mountain of stock. The Crawley

Group’s taken a hit of several million-just like that. Our stocks plummeted in a matter of days, investors

bleeding cash left and right.”

But of course, the real kicker was two hundred thousand Bruce’s family had sunk in-they were seeing

red, not a dime back in sight!

Lysander was playing a dangerous game, a gambit that threatened to starve not just one fish but the

entire pond.

This was collateral damage at its most classic.

Ethan had truly gone the extra mile to put Bruce in a tight spot.

And all of it orchestrated by Lysander’s guiding hand.

“According to the contract, the Sinclair Group is set to funnel half a billion into Crawley Electronics.

Those overstocked computers you’ve been sitting on? Dump them back on the market at the original

price or roll out a sale-either way, they’ll sell. Add the sales from your spanking new smartphone line,

and in ten days, you’ll triple what you’ve lost this week. Stocks will bounce back. And that half a billion

from Sinclair? Icing on the cake. You’re about to pull a rabbit out of the hat with billions to spare. Why

wouldn’t you jump at the chance?”

Lysander’s cool and calculated voice filled the space.

Hearing Lysander’s plan, Ethan let out a hearty laugh. “Oh Lysander, no wonder they say you’re a titan

of industry. Everything you touch turns to gold. You’ve even got the stock market eating out of your

hand, playing it with such finesse. In less than a fortnight, you’ve lined my pockets with billions. If only I

had a brain like yours.”

Ethan’s jest carried a tone of genuine admiration for Lysander’s shrewd intellect.

No wonder he sat atop the Starhaven business elite, a veritable king of clout.

When Bruce approached Ethan about buying a stake in the Crawley Group, Ethan had thought of him

as just another investor.

That was until a chance encounter with Lysander on the golf course, following a round where Bruce

had been discussing Crawley Group products.

After Bruce’s family had departed, Lysander approached Ethan with a proposal for a partnership.

Lysander reaching out to him for a partnership? Ethan was over the moon about it. Lysander hadn’t

even disclosed the details before Ethan eagerly agreed.

When Lysander suggested he suppress sales of the old computers to cause a dip in Crawley Group’s

stock, Ethan was taken aback. Wouldn’t that be a financial hit?

But Lysander had a plan. He instructed Ethan to draft a contract for the Sinclair Group’s massive

investment in Crawley Group.

Without delay, Ethan set to work on the contract, following Lysander’s command to the letter-

overstocking computers and watching as billions seemingly evaporated.

Under normal circumstances, Ethan would never have agreed to such a risky move. A wrong turn and

his company could face ruin.

But this was Lysander’s idea-a man who never went wrong in the world of business.

Even with bankruptcy breathing down his neck Ethan followed through.

Now, he was on track to make more than he’d earned in an entire year in less than half a month.

Lysander had no time for idle chatter. He hung up and closed the contract. Then he stood up, leaving

his study behind.

Returning to his bedroom, Lysander found Thalassa just stepping out of the shower. She opened the

bathroom door, and the steam billowed out, warming the room instantly.

Lysander’s breath caught slightly at the sight. Thalassa fresh from the shower, her hair damp, droplets

cascading down, soaking into the fabric of her pink silk nightgown.

The soft material clung to her, wet spots blooming into a flesh-toned hue that matched her skin-pale

with a blush of warmth, utterly enticing.

His eyes traced the outline of her waist beneath the nightgown, slender and seductive.

Lysander’s eyes deepened as he stepped forward.

Catching sight of him, Thalassa paused, her ease replaced by a sudden tension.

Clutching a towel, she moved towards the bed, trying to minimize her presence, as if by making herself

smaller, she could avoid whatever was on Lysander’s mind.
