Chapter 1238

“What the hell have you two done right in front of me?” Hertha couldn’t take it anymore. She pointed an

accusing finger at Alaric, her breath heavy with fury as she spoke, her face flushed with anger.

Alaric, still in a daze, was jolted awake by Hertha’s voice. He blinked the sleep from his eyes and

looked at Hertha, who sat across from him on the other bed, her face twisted in rage.

Then his gaze fell on Georgia, who lay beside him. His eyes snapped open as he took in the situation,

inspecting himself before looking back at Georgia.

Realization dawned in his smoldering eyes as he saw the state he and Georgia were in, and they filled

with disbelief.

What had happened? Last night, he was sure he had been holding Hertha.

Georgia woke up too, sitting up abruptly as the covers slid off her. She scrambled to pull them back,

covering herself as she hurriedly tried to explain to Alaric, “Alaric, you were drunk last night. I don’t

blame you. We’re engaged, after all. We were bound to become husband and wife eventually.”

Her words confirmed what had happened between Alaric and her.

Alaric’s expression darkened with incredulity and denial as he looked from Georgia to Hertha.

He definitely had too much to drink last night, but he remembered, albeit hazily, that it was Hertha he

had been with.

Could he have been mistaken?

Hertha also caught the implication of Georgia’s words. They had slept together, and right beside her!

Hertha had been blackout drunk last night, with no memory of what had transpired.

All she knew was the scene that greeted her this morning.

Her heart felt like it had been smashed with a hammer. Breathing heavily, she let out a bitter laugh and

said, “So you two lovebirds decide to get it on with me as a live audience? You high-society folks sure

know how to party It’s eye-opening. I’m out!”

With that, she threw off the covers and marched towards the door, not even bothering to put on shoes,

her bare feet slapping against the floor as she fought back a surge of bitter emotion.

“Hertha!” Alaric called out, trying to follow her, but then he realized his own embarrassing state. He

hastily wrapped himself in the covers and bent down to grab his clothes off the floor.

As he dressed, he demanded, “You better explain what the hell happened last night!”

Georgia, intimidated by his stern tone, started to sob and said, “Last night I saw you staggering outside

the hotel, holding onto Hertha, completely plastered. I was worried, so I followed and even got a room

for you and Hertha. But then you suddenly grabbed hold of me and wouldn’t let me leave. I thought,

we’re going to be married anyway, so I didn’t refuse.”

Alaric, though he had been drunk, had fragmented memories of the night. He did remember

encountering Georgia.

Once dressed, he stood with his back to the bed and said firmly, “Get dressed and talk to me upright.”

Georgia sniffled, letting Alaric hear her pitiful crying, but obediently picked up her clothes and put them

on.

“I’m ready,” Georgia said.

Alaric glanced at her and then at the bed, which was stark white.

“You ever had a boyfriend?” Alaric asked sternly.

Georgia froze, her gaze darting between the bed and Alaric’s questioning. She got the hint, her grip

tightening on her pants, and she nodded, “Yeah.”

She had always been trailing behind Alaric before, calling out to him, hoping he would pay her more

attention. But Alaric had always kept his distance, dodging her whenever he could, and was never

short of female company.
