Chapter 682

After Thalassa had secured the ropes, she dusted her hands to shake off the dirt.

Casting a glance at the terrified Bruce, she huffed, “When you deceived other people and decimated others’ families, did you ever remind yourself of their pain and helplessness? And what did you ever think of that when you toyed with their feelings and discarded them? Bruce, it’s time for you to feel what’s called powerless!”

“Thalassa, I’m sorry, I was wrong, I know I was wrong. Please pull me up,” Bruce pleaded as his hands gripped the safety harness tightly and broke out cold sweat.

“Hold on, I’ll call for help.” Thalassa turned and descended the mountain.

Bruce panicked and lost all his pretenses. As Thalassa’s retreating form disappeared, he hurled a string of obscenities, harsh and vulgar.

Who would come to his rescue among this desolate wilderness?

Thalassa hung him there to let him fend for himself.

Bruce felt a mix of panic, anger, and helplessness.

Only now did he realize he had been tricked. Thalassa had first conned him out of his mansion, and then retrieved the remaining 13 million from him.

She was seeking vengeance for her mother!

But it was too late for regrets.

He, Bruce, who had deceived so many, had fallen for the tricks of a young girl in her twenties.

That was absolutely infuriating.

As Thalassa descended the mountain, Bruce’s curses echoed behind her. She didn’t respond.

This was the true face of Bruce, she scoffed to herself.

As for his paternal love? He just wanted to get close to her and her mother so as to gain more benefits from Lysander!

Since he was cursing so profusely, I’ll just let him hang in the air a little longer. She thought.

Descending the mountain was challenging, more so than the climb up. Thalassa clung to the cliff, slowly making her

down.

Soon, the sky was covered with dark clouds, a sign of an impending storm.

Thalassa felt a hint of fear.

Suddenly, a bolt of thunder shook the sky.

“Ahh!” Thalassa lost her footing and slipped down the rocky path in her fear.

She was in tremendous panic as she rolled down a couple of steps before grabbing onto a small tree to stabilize herself.

Hacked by the terrazzo stairs, Thalassa felt a sharp pain shoot through her waist. She grimaced in agony.

She held onto the tree, struggling to get up. She tried to continue her descent, but as soon as she put her weight on her foot, a wave of intense pain shot through her ankle.

Thalassa immediately lifted her foot and stood on one leg. She found a relatively flat spot to sit down and examined her ankle. It was swollen.

She had sprained her ankle and couldn’t continue her descent. What could she do?

As she was worrying, another thunderclap sounded, followed by a flash of lightning.

“No!” Thalassa screamed, hugging her head and curling into a ball.

Ever since that night five years ago, she had been terrified of thunderstorms. She would hide under her covers and curl into a ball in such weather. But now she was in the wilderness with no place to hide. Her fear was intensified, and she was shaking uncontrollably.

What should I do? She thought.

Meanwhile, at the foot of Phoenix Mountain.

A black Rolls-Royce was parked.

Lysander got out of the car with several bodyguards behind him. His grand entrance and powerful aura seemed even more oppressive than the darkening sky..
