Chapter 699

David’s unprovoked confession surprised Lysander.

Lysander’s hand paused over the document he was holding as his piercing eyes shifted towards David.

“Ms. Everhart sent the funds back to me, and I placed them in the company account.” David confessed, avoiding eye contact.

Lysander’s intimidating gaze sent a chill down David’s spine, making his entire body tense up.

The room seemed to grow colder after David’s confession.

Silent threats were the most challenging for one’s mental endurance, and David was feeling all the pressure.

Just as he was preparing himself for a verbal lashing, Lysander’s icy voice echoed in the room. “Get out!”

David felt as if he had been pardoned and hurriedly left the office.

Now that it was just her left, the finance manager started sweating bullets. When she saw Lysander’s gaze turn towards her, she stammered, “I… I only know what David told me… I have no other information.”

She, too, left the office shakily.

She was relieved that David had taken the brunt of Lysander’s anger. If it had been her alone, she would have been so terrified of Mr. Sinclair’s imposing demeanor that she probably would have started crying.

With a heavy thud, Lysander threw the documents onto the table. The sound of the paper hitting the wooden surface rang out through the entire room. With each deep breath he took, his eyes became even frostier.

Did she think returning the money would sever their ties?

It seemed like she didn’t understand her situation at all!

Back at Royal Estates.

Thalassa had a good night’s sleep after settling her affairs.

A weight was lifted off her shoulders, leaving her feeling much lighter.

She still remembered Lysander’s livid and venomous look when he discovered that the billion in her account was used to buy a mansion for Bruce. Thalassa was deeply hurt by that misunderstanding.

She hated Bruce and would never choose to be his daughter if she had a choice.

Unfortunately, a person’s blood relatives were something they couldn’t control.

She did everything she could to prove she had no ties with Bruce.

Even if it was just a drop in the bucket, as long as there were no financial ties, she could at least have some peace of mind.

Moreover, she didn’t want any financial involvement with Lysander.

That way, when she left, she could hold her head high and not feel inferior.

With no monetary transactions between her and Lysander, their relationship was clearly defined.

For now, Lysander was still drawn to her physically, but once he tired of her, she could leave freely.

Thalassa slept until the children returned from school. Their soft, adorable chatter woke her from her nap.

“Mommy, we’re back to keep you company.”

“Mommy, did you rest well?”

“Mommy, Dylan Crawley gave me a red flower today.”

“Mommy, I can fix the circular pendant now.”

Elowen, a little sweetheart, ran over to her with short, quick steps. Her cute and innocent face looked eagerly at Thalassa, ready to tell her mother all the events of her day.

Thalassa sat up in bed and gently pinched Elowen’s chubby cheek. “Let me see the red flower you got.”

“The red flower is in my backpack. I’ll go get it.” Elowen excitedly turned to leave the room.

“Sophia, you can fix the circular pendant? That’s great!” Thalassa praised Sophia.

Suddenly, Elowen, too excited and running too fast, bumped into someone at the door. She immediately covered her forehead with her little hand, trying to rub the pain away.

Thalassa looked towards the door and saw a tall figure approaching. His black suit made him look dangerous and oppressive.

From Lysander’s handsome face, she could tell he looked tense. He was exuding an icy chill that seemed to freeze the room’s air.
