Chapter 943

Lysander’s handsome face was taut, his eyes fierce as he barked, “What the hell are you doing?!”

Startled by his abrupt growl, Thalassa gasped for air, her mouth wide open as she breathed in the fresh air desperately.

After several urgent breaths, the suffocating feeling eased slightly.

When Thalassa opened her eyes, she met Lysander’s icy gaze, staring at her intently. His sharp eyes seemed to carry a hint of worry amid their severity.

“I’m showering,” Thalassa responded, her breaths quick and uneven.

“Trying to suffocate yourself in the shower? Thalassa, are you trying to test my patience?” Lysander’s grip on her shoulder was too firm, betraying his tension.

“Ouch…” Thalassa winced as her shoulder blades felt like they were about to snap, her body stiffening.

Realizing he was hurting her, Lysander’s grasp softened slightly.

Fixing his gaze on her eyes, his expression remained stern and tense. “Why didn’t you find it uncomfortable earlier? If I catch you treating yourself like this again, I won’t let it slide!”

With a domineering, cold toss of his words, Lysander glanced at her pale face, clenched his teeth, and stormed out of the bathroom.

Stepping outside, the sound of water splashing on the floor echoed in Lysander’s ears, tightening his nerves.

Lysander’s handsome face darkened, resembling a sky weighed down by storm clouds. His eyes took on a tint of crimson, and his sharp eyebrows twitched ever so slightly. The hands hanging by his side tightened, the veins on the back of them bulging from the applied pressure.

Did Thalassa think she could force him to let her go by doing this? Wishful thinking!

Even in death, he would not allow Thalassa to leave and seek her own love, to marry someone else!

With determined strides, Lysander exited the room.

Thalassa finally came back to her senses, propping herself up on the sink, her breathing still rapid as she glanced back at the still-running shower head.

A wave of fear rose within her.

What was she thinking? Why didn’t she move? With her hair plastered wet over her face, she could have suffocated!

At a moment of life and death, she had no reaction at all!

Thankfully, Lysander had come in time.

Turning around, she saw the bathroom door lock broken, a hole through the door.

The strength it must have taken…

Thalassa was too shocked to continue her scattered thoughts and hurriedly finished showering and wrapped herself in a towel.

Lysander was no longer in the room.

Lowering her eyes, Thalassa masked the emotions swirling within.

She dressed and composed herself before heading downstairs. Lysander wasn’t there either. She saw Fitch setting up the meal and approached him, asking, “Fitch, where’s Lysander?”

“Lysander left, probably to the office. Ms. Eyerhart, lunch is ready for you. I’ve got to run and pick up the kids,” Fitch said in a rush.

Lunch?

Thalassa was startled; she thought it was still morning, not realizing it was already afternoon and the kids would be getting out of school soon.

She had slept until the afternoon!

Considering she had a tumultuous évening yesterday, it was normal for her to wake up at this time. Yesterday, she didn’t fall into a deep sleep until the late night, thoroughly exhausted. When she woke up in the afternoon, her whole body still felt sore and weak.

She wanted to join Fitch in picking up the kids, but she felt too drained; even walking felt off.

It was better to stay home and eat. Eating seemed to be the only way to regain her strength.

As Fitch hurried off, Thalassa settled down to eat. Just then, her phone rang, and upon seeing the caller ID, her recently relaxed nerves tensed up once again.

It was Ethan on the phone.
