Chapter 161 Divinity's Bout Ends!
Chapter 161 Divinity's Bout Ends!
Nero was not the only one that was overwhelmed with fury at the moment. Kaladin, the powerful Obsidian Skeleton mage, was rightfully enraged. He had been the first elite summon of Leon, and naturally possessed a lot of clout amongst the summons. When he saw the way Leon was being insulted and threatened by mere humans, he felt like the world had turned dark in his vision.
'These lowly scum! They dare disrespect my master?!'
Whoosh!
An invisible wave of electrifying mana burst out of Kaladin as his Domain manifested. Thick bolts of lightning manifested and struck down all around the throne room. Kaladin himself slowly rose up from the ground, the lightning crackling around him intensifying until he was entirely cloaked in it. Then... He dispersed...
The lightning completely took over Kaladin's body until he looked to be made of lightning himself, then he simply disappeared with the electrifying currents.
(A/N: You know how that electric guy from Amazing Spiderman was zipping around? Yeah, something like that.)
Boom!
All of a sudden, a mass of lightning appeared over a group of people, and a hail of lightning thundered down onto their heads. They five people who were directly hit by the attack were immediately killed, while those around them were severely injured.
Again, Kaladin vanished, instantaneously appearing over another group of confused and fearful people. And once again, an explosion of white lightning struck their heads, killing them en-masse.
"Run!"
"Retreat!"
"Get out of my way, dammit!!!"
Upon seeing the destructive powers of Leon's summons, the people quickly began to bid a hasty retreat. But as they neared the doors to the boss room, another shadow flashed by in front of them. A huge Orc that had black skin and glowed with a green light stood right in front of them, eyes burning. Grokus had also jumped in to show his prowess to his master.
Grokus' large and wide sword flashed before the eyes of the first man before him, and in one smooth motion, the man's head was set flying. Then a massacre began. Grokus mowed down over a dozen people in short notice, completely unstoppable by the disorganized fighters. Although the speed of killing had very noticeably slowed down after a few stepped up to help coordinate their retreat, Leon was still satisfied. He had left enough of an impression on them. While he would have loved to kill a few more, he decided to let them go. He was sure that he had made enough enemies already as it was.
"Well that was exciting." Jet whistled. He was shocked by the terrifying prowess that Leon's summons had displayed. When he envisioned himself against such power, the chances that he could even escape with his life were slim. Not to mention fighting back against them.
As Leon opened his mouth to reply Jet, the space around them suddenly quivered.
[The Fiftieth Floor of the Tower of Trials has been cleared! All participants have fought well! Divinity's Bout shall also come to a close! May Fortune be with you!]
"Oh, it seems this is it. Hmm, I wonder if the Gods simply wanted a little bit more fighting before sending us off." Jet mused with his hands on his hips. He turned to Leon with a smile. "After you get back, find me. Jet Armstrong. Remember that name." Jet nodded at Leon, and the place went white.
Leon felt the world shift around him and his perception warp, then he suddenly realized something. He would be taken back to the exact spot that he had stood in when Divinity's Bout started.
'Crap!' He quickly activated his <Adaptable Body> skill that had been collecting dust for a while now. Flesh quickly grew over his bones, wrapping up his body just as the white of his teleportation began to fade. By the time he was completely covered in flesh and skin, the light of his teleportation finally faded. Just in time too. Around Leon, a dozen other people were emerging from the lights. Not everyone that had gone had returned, it seemed. From what Leon could remember, there were more people that had claimed to be participating in Divinity's Bout. It was either they had died on the Island of Fate, or they had chickened out during the twenty four hour countdown on the island.
"Sir Leon?" A familiar voice called and Leon turned around. He recognized the owner of that voice.
"Curtis? Good to see you survived." Leon smiled at the blonde boy.
"Heh. Did you think I would die that easily?" Curtis grinned. The boy's eyes looked more mature than before the competition, although he still sounded as cheery as ever.
"Young Master!" A delighted cry came from the corner as Benny came running downstairs from the room he stayed in throughout the duration of Divinity's Bout.
"Benny!" Curtis held open his arms.
Leon smiled at the sight, but before he could react, he was suddenly whisked away by another teleportation.
"Whoa!" Leon stumbled when he suddenly regained his balance. But he was not standing on the ground. No. He was floating in a dark space!
"What is this? Where am I?" He wondered out loud.
"Leon, is that you?" Leon spun around, only to see Jet floating not far from him. The dark haired man looked genuinely surprised.
A few more flashes of light went off as more people were teleported to this dark space. As Leon looked around, he spotted a person that he recognized very well.
"Richard." Leon nodded at the powerful A rank Werewolf.
"Oi, it's the little Necromancer!" Richard grinned wolfishly. If you're here then that means you must have done quite well in Divinity's Bout. Good job." He gave Leon a thumbs up.
"Thanks, I guess." Leon shrugged.
"No way! It's the head of the Silver Tooth Guild!" Jet suddenly exclaimed beside Leon. His eyes went wide as he looked at Richard.
"Oh, you know me?" Richard tilted his head in a mocking manner.
"Who doesn't know you?!" Jet exclaimed. He had completely lost his composure. It made Leon feel embarrassed for his sake. Richard turned to look at Leon with a smug expression, and that is when Leon realized that this question was supposedly meant for him. It seemed Richard was truly famous, but how was he supposed to know that when he had only just been exposed to the wider world outside of the desolate lands for less than two days?
"Ahem. Who are these?" A cool voice breezed over Leon's ears as a dark haired man floated over. He was tall and lean, but not in a bad way. It made him develop an imposing stance that made people feel as if they were below him.
"This is Leon, and this is...?" Richard turned to Jet with a questioning look.
"Jet. The name's Jet." Jet composed himself and introduced himself.
"...Jet. Leon and Jet. Leon is the Necromancer I told you about while Jet is his friend, it would seem." Richard introduced Leon and Jet to Moses.
"A pleasure to meet you. I am Moses, Richard's rival." Moses bowed his head slightly, with a certain grace to his movements that made Richard's jaw twitch. Moses was acting like a soft and gentle man when he was an absolute barbarian when he fought. What sort of two-faced Vampire was this?!
"Wait... I know you. You're the Bard of the East! The White Vampire!" Jet exclaimed once again. Richard scoffed at the titles, especially the 'White Vampire' title. It was such a mockery of the Vampire. And he knew how much Moses hated that title. The Bard of the East title was much better and smoother. At least, it let everyone know of his musical prowess. While the 'White Vampire' title made people think he was literally a white Vampire. Vampires were pale skinned, not white!
"I am indeed the Bard of the East, but please... Refrain from referring to me as the White Vampire." Moses said calmly. There was a coldness to his tone that immediately let Leon and Jet know that he was irked by that title. They immediately crossed off that name from their minds.
'Nedra, remind me never to call him that if we cross paths.' Leon told his trusty Spirit Companion.
'Ha! Can't have him beheading you or I'll die as well. Don't worry.' She laughed in Leon's mind while he turned around. He immediately spotted another person that he recognized very well.
"Elena?" He called out to the Beastkin. Beside her was a blonde boy who spoke to a couple of people opposite them.
"Hmm?" Elena spun around at the mention of her name. Then she also spotted Leon.
"O-Oh! Leon!" Elena tapped Lance's shoulder and pointed over to Leon before pushing herself off in his direction. Lance frowned and turned to look at Leon. Upon spotting Leon's fine features, he immediately scowled. Leon could feel a competitiveness in the glare that Lance shot him and his eyebrows shot up.
'Did I just get dragged into a love feud?'
