The Black Necromancer

Chapter 273 Captured

Chapter 273 Captured

Garrix waved his arm and created a strong gust of wind to blow away the dust that hung in the air. He suddenly sensed a great amount of danger just before a beam of white light shot out from the crater. The beam was as wide as five meters, and shot up high in the sky.

"Dammit, I let my guard down." He cursed as he held onto his left shoulder. His left arm had been incinerated by that blast of white light. "Holy energy? How is that possible?" Garrix muttered with doubt in his tone. He stared at the crater incredulously as Leon's body slowly lifted out from it.

"You despicable creature. I will make sure you suffer when my master is done with you!" Garrix growled and threw a dark red cube at Leon.

Leon conjured a wind barrier around himself, but the cube simply phased through the wind barrier.

"What?!" Leon was shocked, but it was already too late, as the cube appeared in front of him and expanded, turning into a cubic prison that wrapped around Leon's body, barely giving him enough space to move. The cube then began to shrink, not hindered in the least by Leon's explosive release of his spells and abilities.

"No! Let me out!" As the cube shrank more and more, Leon became desperate as the size of the cube somehow affected his powers. He could feel himself growing weaker and weaker by the moment.

"Hahaha! It is impossible to break free of that prison. It is even able to trap a Peak A rank, not to mention a puny insect like yourself!" Garrix bellowed in a condescending tone.

Leon did not even pay heed to Garrix's words as he was too busy with trying to find a way out of his current predicament. Unfortunately, he was not able to do so.

A heavy pressure slammed into Leon's mind at that moment, causing him to stagger as his mind became engulfed by a phenomenon that he could only liken to static or white noise. He lost control over the mana in his grasp, and the strange effects of the cube strengthened, prying away any chances that he could grasp mana again.

Leon quickly regained his wits, but since he was not able to use any ambient mana, he pulled upon the mana in his core. Unfortunately, the weakening effects of the cube had already dug in deep, and the spells he casted were no longer able to even shake the walls of the cube.

'I can't keep on wasting mana like this and hope for a miracle...' Leon realized grimly. He had no way to escape, and once again, he had lost contact with the outside world. Fortunately, Nedra had withdrawn into him, so he was not completely alone. The strange field that had cut off contact with his summons on the outside was still in effect, so he could not reach Kaladin either. The connection between himself and his summons that were in the Abyss of the Undead was also too faint.

'This is bad.' Nedra said from within Leon's mind. She was badly injured, but fortunately, she had not been sliced to mince meat, and was only split into two halves, which was something she could easily recover from as long as she spent enough mana.

'Don't say that again.' Leon grimly sighed. He gave up struggling as he found out that he could not break free from the inside. He even activated his Spell Weaver skill for a deeper insight into the mana that made up the cube, but it turned out that for some reason, the foundation of the cube was so solid that he could not even shake it.

Leon reluctantly gave up his attempts at resistance, and when Garrix saw this, he grinned behind his helmet, the red flame within his eyes blazing with happiness.

'I thought he would put up more resistance. If only he knew that the strength of the prison is base on how much mana I supply it.' Garrix chuckled deeply.

The cube he had used to trap Leon was a priceless treasure given to him by his master. The importance of this cube had been hammered into his head several times over. It was a gift given to his master by the God that supported him. It had the ability to seal any one trapped within it, as long as it was supplied enough mana.

The only drawback was that an immense amount of mana was needed to activate the cube, and if the person trapped within struggled, a greater amount of mana would be drawn by the user of the cube.

Because of these factors, although Leon had only struggled for a short time, almost half of Garrix's entire mana reserves had been drained!

'The Infinity Cube is truly an amazing treasure. My mana pool is too little to use it for a long time against another A rank, but luckily, my opponent this time is merely Low A rank.' Garrix thought to himself as he extended his arm forward and the Infinity Cube landed on his open palm.

'I must leave now. I am sure that others must have noticed something was off. And he might have alerted them when he pulled in that summon of his.' Garrix turned around and his body suddenly shot into the distance, turning into a small dot in the horizon.

Leon mutely remained within the Infinity Cube, trying to brainstorm a way to escape this. Surely, Michael was watching what was happening, if there was any luck. The God had once told Leon that he was not omniscient, so Leon could only hope that the Fate God was paying attention at this particular moment.

However, Leon did not want to rely too much on Michael to solve this problem. If he could escape this predicament on his own, then it would serve as a boost to his overall self esteem. He needed to do this on his own!
