The Black Necromancer

Chapter 277 You Or Me, Who Will Prevail?

Chapter 277 You Or Me, Who Will Prevail?

Leonidas struggled to shield his allies as waves of overpowering might washed over them. His shoulders were heavy, and his back screamed in pain as the power that Leon unleash completely shook him, the shockwaves penetrating through his armor easily.

"What madness!" He growled over the sounds of explosions that shook the sky and earth. He waved his hand and another barrier was erected just in time as the initial one he had put up shattered into pieces under the overwhelming pressure.

Whoosh!

With one final gust of wind, the pressure vanished and Leonidas heaved a sigh of relief, letting down his barrier. The others also lowered the weaker barriers that they had set up in the last moment, allowing the view of utter destruction to grace their sights.

"My God..." Leonidas let his jaw drop open as he took in the carnage and devastation that had been done to the land. A giant crater that was hundreds of miles wide and dozens deep had been carved into the earth by whatever attacks Leon and Garrix had exchanged. Unknown to them, Leon had only struck once, and Garrix' attack had been nullified, so this was all the work of Leon.

"Leon!" Jet exclaimed as he spotted Leon's fallen form at a distance, in a small crater set aside from the massive one. He tried to teleport over to Leon's position, but found that the space around them was too fragile and unstable. Breaking through space to teleport at this time could cause a chain reaction that would lead to devastating effects.

So, he quickly flew on his own to Leon, landing beside Leon's prone form and gently lifting him up.

"Leon, can you hear me?" He asked his good friend with a worried tone and expression.

"Mm, I can." Leon mumbled, but he was unable to move his body.

"What happened here?" Jet asked, as Leon was the only one to have witnessed what happened.

"Took care of the enemy. That's all that's important." Leon groaned and hoped that Jet wouldn't ask again. He, himself, was also confused about what had happened, but he would have enough time to talk about it, as well as ask Michael about it.

"Fine, then. Let's get going." Jet secured Leon's body and lifted up into the air, meeting up with the others that had used that moment to scope out the surrounding area.

"All of them are gone. Dead, I believe." Dorian said in shock. He stared at Leon, unable to believe what had happened. However, he could feel something strange lingering in the atmosphere, and most of all, around Leon.

'Divinity.' Dorian thought to himself.

Long ago, Dorian had been privileged enough to come across a hidden library, where he had managed to read some highly controversial and important topics. Among all the things he had read, the existence of a higher level power energy was spoken of, although just barely. That energy had been referred to as 'Divinity'.

Dorian had not come into contact with this higher energy before, but at this moment, that was the only thing he could think of.

'Could it be that he has learned to manipulate this higher energy?' Dorian thought to himself again.

"Let's return, quickly. I am sure that the forces of the Demon Continent have noticed what is happening here. We must leave at once." Leonidas said to everyone.

Everyone agreed and they soon left the area, with Leon being carried along.

Not long after they left, a group of Demons, mostly B rank, with an A rank leader, appeared some distance away from the sight of the fight.

"This is the area where the energy pulse was felt." The A rank leader looked around, and his eyes froze, growing round like saucers.

"What in the deepest pits of the abyss is this?!" He exclaimed as his eyes took in the massive crater that had been carved into the ground. He moved to teleport closer, but found that the mana around the crater was so chaotic that he could not hold open a stable pathway through space magic.

Behind him, his subordinates stared, slack jawed at the devastation that had been caused here. They had only just felt the surge in mana, and rushed there, with only minutes of time taken up, yet there was nothing here now but this massive crater.

The group reluctantly flew closer to the crater, taking in their surroundings vigilantly, to avoid being ambushed by whatever must have done this damage.

"Boss Drew, what do you think happened here?" One of the B rank Demons flew closer to Andrew and asked.

"My best guess is two Peak A ranks duking it out, but that would be wrong still. At that level, it's impossible to take out your opponent that quickly." Andrew replied as he slowly descended to the ground. He landed at the edge of the crater and looked around. The two horns on his head glowed briefly as he activated a skill. His eyes seemed to glaze over as he tried to find out what might have happened through the skill.

Before he could investigate too deeply, though, he suddenly sensed the arrival of a powerful entity and snapped out of his daze, shooting up into the air to protect his subordinates.

Unlike most Demons, Andrew was a rather rare individual. He was not as selfish, and actually cared for his subordinates. That was why he had rushed up to protect them.

"Leave this place." A domineering voice boomed through Andrew's ears and he turned in the direction it came from.

A distance away, where the space and mana was more stable, a figure clad in black and red armor emerged from plain air. Andrew could not feel any indications that the person had teleported there, so he was shocked.

"Identify yourself!" Andrew called out, spooked, but not convinced that he should leave just yet.

"..." A short silence ensued before the helmet of the other person's armor vanished, revealing the pale face of the Undead Being that Garrix served.

"Y-Your Excellency!" Andrew immediately recognized the face of the highly influential being that was before him. He instantly lowered his head and turned to leave with his underlings.

When Andrew and his underlings had left, Garrix's master turned to look back at the giant crater that had been left in the ground. He let out a sigh and shook his head.

As the one who had controlled Garrix's soul, he was able to see what Garrix saw, and had witnessed his subordinate's death. It was shocking, as he had believed that the Infinity Cube would be enough to capture Leon, and the fact that Leon was merely Low A rank was something that had solidified his confidence even more.

Unfortunately, he could not have accounted for such an unbelievable phenomenon to take place, and he had not only lost a powerful and loyal subordinate, but also the Infinity Cube.

"It is no use crying over spilt milk, I guess. I shall make plans to retrieve the Infinity Cube, as well as that Undead in time. I just need to be careful." The pale faced Demonic Undead said and held a hand to his head, covering his head in his helmet once again. He turned around and vanished into the distance, leaving the area before other parties would arrive to investigate what had happened.

Already, his mind was churning at full power as he concocted another plan to handle Leon's capture. This time, he was even contemplating going himself, as he knew there was no more room for mistakes. Just this failure would make this operation many times more difficult than before, as not only Leon, but also Leon's allies would be on guard.

'That aside, he was able to use Divinity. And a Divinity that was against us... How is an Undead being able to withstand Divinity of Order? It is too far fetched.' He thought to himself as he arrived in a remote location that was covered in a forest of trees that had dark red leaves.

The space around him twisted, and he vanished, appearing in an underground space where tens of thousands of Undeads moved around. Skeletons, Specters, Wraiths, Zombies, and the likes, moved about through the underground space, carrying out the will of their master.

'You or me, who will prevail in the end...' He thought to himself as he sat on his throne.
