The Black Necromancer

Chapter 47 Divine Descent (2)

Chapter 47 Divine Descent (2)

Lightning flashed ceaselessly in the skies above the desolate ruins, and thunder rumbled in the ears of all who were there. All of a sudden, a bright, white light erupted from Bella's chest, enveloping her figure and protecting her from the lightning bolt that Kaladin had just sent to attack her. The lightning bolt easily broke past her defenses, but was decimated when it came into contact with the white light that shrouded her.

A heavy presence descended, and the Holy Energy that surrounded Bella overflowed, instantly overpowering Kaladin's defenses, and decimating his body, not even leaving a wisp of black smoke behind.

This scene repeated itself in two other places. Malaki, who was just about buried under a mountain of millipedes, holding on to life by a thin thread, was suddenly liberated, the undead creatures around him being blown away, and his HP being refilled in the blink of an eye.

"GAH!!!" He roared as he jumped to his feet. He picked up his sword and looked to what was left of his battered shield before shaking his head. There was no saving that one anymore. He did not waste time, even though he did not understand what was going on, he did not want to hang around to find out.

Elsewhere, Adrian was down on one knee, holding up Leon's sword that was bearing down on him, while gritting his bloody teeth. Blood was all over his body, obviously his own, and there were injuries of various sizes all over him. The sword was pressing down on his own chipped swords, and he felt his arms beginning to give way to the force. It was at this moment that he felt an amazing burst of strength well up within him. A white light exploded around him, blowing Leon a dozen meters away, sending him barreling through a stone wall as if the wall was a sheet of wet paper.

"Ugh..." Leon groaned and shook his head. He slowly stood up, sending the rubble over him rolling to the side. "What was that...?" He mumbled to himself, his mind still in disarray. He raised his gaze up to the white figure that was approaching him slowly, his eyes slowly widening. He could feel every black bone in his body tremble and shiver with each step that the white haired human took toward him. Unconsciously, he pulled upon his entire army of summons, drawing them through the link he shared with them toward him.

"Hmm, an undead creature. I guess I was not wrong after all." Adrian spoke, but his tone and entire demeanor was entirely different, as if he was a completely different person from the green haired man who was being beaten up just a few moments ago. He raised his head up, looking at the hundreds of pitch black millipedes that had appeared around the skeleton that he had thrown back. "Luckily, I gave those three my talismans before they left." He shook his head.

Indeed, this mysterious persona was the one and only Benny, the man who had handed the three adventurers his bird shaped talismans!

The next moment, the massive army that consisted millipedes and a few humanoid undead creatures charged at him. He only waved his arm, and a wave of white-golden light was blasted off, directly wiping out dozens of millipedes! He stretched his arms back and Adrian's discarded twin swords came flying right into his open palms, just in time for him to parry, and divert Nero's vicious slash. In one smooth motion, he slid to the side, waving one sword and slicing Nero in half! Before Nero even had the time to comprehend the attack, he was already turning into a heap of black dust.

Benny took two rapid steps to the side, just in time to dodge the precise lightning bolt that would have struck him on the head. He turned to look at Kaladin, deciding to ignore the little mage, and then turning back to the rest of the millipede army that was being led by a much more giant, white millipede.

"Hmm, a familiar aura." He mumbled before waving with the sword. A white arc of light shot forward, tearing through the army like a hot knife through butter, but the giant millipede was still standing, albeit quite injured. It was missing a good chunk of its body, and part of its head had been sliced clean off, sending a fountain of purple blood spraying up into the air. The next moment, Nedra dropped to the ground, twitching and shaking, her HP rapidly draining.

Another barrage of spells rained down, but they were not able to touch him, as if he was simply phasing through all the attacks. He cast a look at Kaladin, and the skeleton mage burst into a mass of white flames, dying in a matter of seconds. Now, all that was left was Leon whose legs were trembling with fear.

As he walked closer, he suddenly felt something run down the side of his face. Running his finger over his cheek, he pulled it back to the sight of blood.

"Little undead mage. Sorry it had to come to this, but I truly do not want these three to die. So, you will have to die instead. Good bye." Benny shook his head and said. He was tired of playing with them. Adrian's body was already reaching its limit.

Raising his sword, he performed a simple downward slash, sending another wave of white energy rushing in Leon's direction. Leon was too scared, frozen solid in place just from the sheer mental pressure that was put on him by Benny's presence.

Just as the slash was about to reach him, the space around him suddenly froze as another humongous presence descended upon the battlefield. Powerful gusts of wind whipped through the ruins as if the skies themselves were angry.

"Who dares?!" A powerful voice bellowed and bright gunmetal-gray hair danced through the violent winds. Leon found a tall figure that had a stunning aura around him standing before him, easily warding off the slash that was supposed to end his life.
