Chapter 509 A Request
While the mortal realm was still reeling from the devastation wrought by the forces of the Army of Destruction, the Celestial Realm had welcomed a few more Gods from the midst of the Ace Candidates. This time, over ten of them had ascended. They had ascended after the fight against the Army of Destruction's forces down on Datar. The battles has been able to stimulate their potential and give them that final push that they needed.
Alexander walked through the well lit halls of Leon's castle within his God Kingdom. With the Ace Candidates coming together to form a united front, they needed a place where they could gather without issue, and Leon's God Kingdom was by far the most suitable place. Mostly because none of the other Ace Candidates had built their own God Kingdoms at this time.
"Admiring my Master's work?" A steady voice that was charged with energy called out behind Alexander and the newly ascended God turned to look behind him. He had not sensed the presence of the Obsidian Skeleton God before.
"Hello, Kaladin. Indeed, I am. Your Master has very good taste." Alexander smiled slightly and nodded his head.
"Hmm." Kaladin hummed but he did not agree nor disagree, which was strange, as Kaladin took every opportunity he could to praise Leon. Alexander paid it no mind.
"Why did you come to find me?" He asked as he continued to walk with Kaladin beside him. The Obsidian Skeleton God's presence was heavy and electric. It was much greater than how it was before the fight with the Vanguard Forces of the Army of Destructions because he had been able to digest his gains from that battle relatively quickly. Not only that, but he could feel Leon's own strength growing by leaps and bounds, which in turn, empowered him.
"I have observed that your path is somewhat similar, if only in concept, to my Master's style. You capture the souls of weaker beings and make them serve you?" Kaladin revealed his reason for seeking out Alexander at this time.
"Yes, but if you put it that way, you make it sound a bit cruel, hehe." Alexander chuckled and went on to explain. "You see, I approach creatures or beings that are on the verge of death and then I offer them a chance at life by serving me. Then I bind our souls together, with me being the absolute master. In return, they gain something similar to eternal life. But that life is only eternal as long as I live."
"I see. That is quite different from my Master's methods, but it is still quite good. But it is dependent on whether or not the being you approach is willing to cooperate, yes?" Kaladin rubbed his shiny chin bone.
"Yes, I guess you could say that. But the exact specifics have changed now with my ascension. I have not tested it out in full as of yet." Alexander tilted his head slightly in thought.
"I see." Kaladin nodded his head and did not pry further. All his questions so far had been based on what he had found out about Alexander when the latter was still a mortal. But now that Alexander had ascended, it would be rude to try and pry into such matters.
The two of them continued to walk in silence until they reached a large room where the other Ace Candidates were gathered. There were fifteen of them in total if the three that ascended earlier were counted among them.
Dyson stood in the corner of the room with his eyes closed and his arms crossed over his chest. As soon as Kaladin and Alexander stepped into the room, his eyes snapped open and narrowed on Kaladin. This action drew Kaladin's gaze and a heavy pressure descended upon Dyson, but it was not one that he could not resist.
"How is Leon?" Dyson asked the loyal summon.
"My Master is still in seclusion. Until he emerges, I shall handle all matters on his behalf." Kaladin responded smoothly.
"I heard he had a Spirit Companion. Where is she?" Someone asked. It was a man with blue skin and a head of hair that was made from flowing water. He was quite the arrogant person, and even as a mortal, he had run his mouth quite a lot of times, which had led to him getting beaten up by Dyson on multiple occasions.
"Okeanus." Dyson's firm voice shook the air and the temperature rose a little bit.
"..." The water-haired God turned away and folded his arms.
"Lady Nedra is also in seclusion. She is unavailable." Kaladin replied. "You will answer primarily to me if necessary, as I stand in the place of my Master. If you do not like it, then you can leave and fend for yourself." Kaladin's tone was cold and harsh.
The water haired God had nothing more to say. He only looked away while some others chuckled.
"Dyson. Please, if I may have a word." Kaladin then turned to Dyson.
"Of course." Dyson nodded and followed Kaladin out of the large room. The two of them walked a bit down the hall before Kaladin began speaking.
"I am afraid the Master will not be out of seclusion before the main forces of the Army of Destruction arrive." Kaladin broke the ice.
"What?!" Dyson was taken aback and short of words.
"He is undergoing a crucial transformation that will turn him into a veritable fighting force for us in this war, but it will take time. We only have a few more days before the main forces will arrive and we will be thrust into war once more. In that time, I hope you can take charge. I do not think your fellow Ace Candidates are willing to listen to a mere summon." Kaladin was frank and plain.
The newly ascended Ace Candidates did not respect Kaladin enough to defer to him when it mattered, and that would cause problems down the line. So, Kaladin decided to use the one who was more familiar to them as a measure to make sure they did not act out of line.
As the most respected and feared Ace Candidate, there was a lot that Dyson could do to ensure the other Ace Candidates did not act out of hand. It was this that Kaladin was relying on to ensure that things remained in order by the time Leon returned.
