Chapter 525: The Fabled Perfection

Chapter 525: The Fabled Perfection

Shortly after Leon fell into the slumber that came with his meditation, he awakened, but not in the way he expected. Instead of waking up within the secure meditation hall of his palace, he woke up within the Void.

"Where... where am I?" Leon asked, confused. He spun around, but failed to get any bearing of where he was. Even the instinctual connection to Datar that he had gained when he advanced to Godhood could not be felt.

"Within the Void, Leon Cromwell." A deep voice answered him and Leon paused. Behind him, a bright red glow, followed with a slightly familiar feeling appeared behind. He turned around and was faced with an entity that he remembered quite well.

"The Nexus Being?" Leon asked out loud, surprised.

"It has been a while, Leon Cromwell. Unfortunately, we are not meeting each other again on as good terms as before. Your world is in danger." The Nexus Being sighed. It sounded truly sad.

"You sound as if such a matter is one that is plaguing your mind. Aren't you too high up to care about these kinds of things?" Leon spoke his mind.

"Indeed, it may seem that way to you." The red light pulsed around the Nexus Being. "In truth, I am much more intertwined with this matter than you may think. You see, I am the Universe, and the Universe is Me. If anything happens, I am involved, one way or another.

When it comes to the destruction of worlds, I feel each and every one." As the Nexus Being spoke, the red light changed, revealing a small universe within the torso of the Nexus Being. It was an accurate reflection of the current state of the Universe that they resided in.

Leon's perspective changed, and he suddenly gained an eagle eye's view of the entire universe, as if it was spread on a plain for him to view. He instantly spotted multiple worlds with a red haze around them.

"These... these worlds are being attacked by the Army of Destruction right now?!" Leon gasped. There were over ten worlds being attacked at the same time!

"Indeed, and only two are showing a decent level of resistance, Datar being one of them." The Nexus Being said.

"I see. But I don't get why you are telling me all of this. I don't see anything special, especially if this is not a new thing." Leon turned away from the worlds and looked at the red entity that was beside him.

"...Indeed, this is not supposed to be your business. But it has been made your business." The Nexus Being nodded and turned to Leon. The red light around it intensified, blinding Leon for a moment, before receding.

When Leon opened his eyes again, the sight before him was much different. Instead of a being of red light, a man with dark skin and snow white hair was standing before Leon. He had a wolfish grin on his face.

"What? What is going on?" Leon felt a strange connection to this man that he could not understand.

"The Paragon of Undeath. This is the one who had dragged you into this Universal Matter. His struggle for power has gone on for too long, and you have now been involved. That is why I am opening your worldview to this stage of things.

There are much bigger struggles than the one that concerns your world." The Nexus Being said, speaking through the form of the so-called Paragon of Undeath that he had embodied.

"The Paragon of Undeath has been on a search of Perfection for millennia, but he has been unable to achieve his goal. He has however, found an alternate route that will ultimately bring him to his fabled perfection. That is, to force the broken pieces of himself into others, and have those others perfect those pieces for him.

Only then will he appear, destroying those people and absorbing the perfect shard of himself, improving himself."

Leon's eyes widened when he heard this. His mind already understood what the Nexus Being was talking about.

"Those Fragments of the Paragon of Undeath that I absorbed... Those are the pieces you are talking about?" He asked slowly.

"Yes. They are." The Nexus Being responded. "You have absorbed multiple pieces, which proves how much value you are of to him. I believe he wants to capture you and force you to absorb more of those pieces before finally absorbing you and achieving his fabled Perfection. You are the final piece of the puzzle to him, Leon Cromwell.

And I must not allow him to have his way." It turned to Leon as it took on a grave tone.

Leon felt a chill run down his spine as he looked at the Nexus Being. "You want to kill me?"

"Haha! No, instead, I want to invest in you. You will also be my piece in ensuring that he does not achieve that Perfection." The Nexus Being laughed coldly and Leon felt displeasure rising up in his core.

"If I act as your chess piece, then I guess I will also never reach that height?" Leon asked.

"It depends. You might reach that height as long as we agree to certain conditions. If you break your word, then I do not need to take action to ensure that you do not reach that height. If you stick to your words, then I will ensure that nothing will hinder your progress." The Nexus Being responded before reaching his hand out.

"Do we have a deal, Leon Cromwell?"

"First, I need some information about this stuff. I need to clarify some things." Leon did not agree immediately. He did not like the idea of having someone to answer to again. He had just gotten rid of the bonds of Michael and Fazir, along with the other Gods, and now he had to deal with this again.

"Ask away."

"Good. Firstly, what is this Fabled Perfection? Why does the Paragon of Undeath want it so bad?" Leon asked the biggest question that had been on his mind ever since the Nexus Being unveiled these things to him.

"...The Fabled Perfection... The best way to explain it is simple. I am the Fabled Perfection."
