Chapter 534: Dying A Free Man

Chapter 534: Dying A Free Man

Nedra reveled in the pressure that she was faced with. Like Leon, she had also faced many challenges since her creation, and she had struggled to overcome many. It was in that struggle that her power became more polished and refined. That was why she valued this opportunity to challenge a powerful foe like Argon. He was injured and not at his prime, so he could not express his full power.

She could manage a fight like this.

Swish!

A silver light followed the blades of her two Kamas as she swung them down at Argon, but the angry Major God dodged and swung with his own two pairs of arms. However, his weapons were blocked as several pairs of phantom arms rose up behind Nedra, each wielding a different weapons.

"You think you have many hands? You haven't met me." Nedra sneered as her fair skin began to morph. Her skin gave way for a hardened exoskeleton that protected her, while multiple arms sprouted from her back. But she retained a humanoid form and size in order to match Argon more easily. The larger she grew, the more likely it was that she would become clumsy and make mistakes for Argon to exploit.

"All of you pests will die and I will present your master to mine!" Argon growled as he recovered and unleashed a barrage of moves at Nedra. At the same time, spells of great power began to form, fueled by his Divine Power.

"You run your mouth too much for someone who is about to lose." Nedra chided back as she dodged some attacks while preparing her mind to bombard Argon with a series of mental attacks. The latter grimaced but kept up with his attempts to form spells while ramping up the pressure on Nedra.

Clang! Clang Clang!

On and on, their weapons clashed against each other. Neither of them had any time to spare attention to Leon's battle. Nedra was already weaker than Argon in the first place, so she did not have much capacity to spare. Argon, on the other hand, had been injured and was now handicapped, so he treated this fight with utmost importance.

Bzzt!

An electric current ran through the air and Argon immediately pushed away from Nedra, putting space between them. Just in time too, as a thick bolt of lightning immediately crossed where he had been a second ago. He had learnt from last time and was now prepared for any surprise attacks from Leon's other summons.

Nedra did not let the failure hamper her mood. She had already expected it to fail, and did not miss a beat before engaging Argon once again.

Swish!

A silver light flashed by Argon's face and a deep cut appeared on his cheek.

Swoosh!

One of Argon's swords slashed through space, meeting Nedra and exploiting a small opening to cut a sharp wound on her thigh.

Little by little, the two Gods inflicted minor injuries on each other than continued to pile up until they were covered in blood. Meanwhile, they never stopped fighting through other means. Nedra had to occasionally dodge spells that she could not stop Argon from forming while Argon had to withstand a sustained mental bombardment from her opponent.

The two fighters had greatly declined from their peak state and they were no longer as quick to exchange blows. Each attack now carried a measure of carefulness and hesitance.

'Great work, Nedra. I'm done on my end.' Before too long, the words that Nedra had been waiting for finally rang in her mind. She sighed and quickly pulled away from Argon while taking in the surroundings.

Everything was a mess. Such a large scale, devastating battle had left its marks. In some areas, entire patches of time and space had become scrambled. If one carelessly fell into such an area, if they were not lucky, years could pass on the outside before they came out, and it would only be moments for them. The opposite also had a chance of happening.

The bodies of Gods floated through the space, drifting aimlessly as their lives had been extinguished!

Several beings approached Nedra and she let out a sigh of relief when she saw that they were her allies. Kaladin nodded at her while Nero grunted. As for Grokus, he simply fastened his grip on the giant war hammer in his hands. Several more Ace Candidates and some other Gods that had arrived when the battle was already ongoing also came forward. Their side had prevailed in the end.

No matter how large the forces of the Paragon of Undeath was, the forces at his disposal were ultimately limited.

Argon looked at the gathering opposition with dismay. He knew that this would be the end, but he did not shrink back.

"Kill me. Let me die a valiant death." He looked up at Leon, determination in his eyes.

"You fought well, Argon. But you fought for the wrong side." Leon said and held up one hand. He had returned to his normal form by now.

A small, black sphere appeared above his palm, rotating quickly. As more Divine Power was fed into it, it rotated fasted and faster, until a powerful suction force began to emanate from it. It was then that Leon tossed it at Argon. The latter did not struggle against the suction and allowed his body to be pulled in.

Crack!

His armor cracked and broke, the shards getting pulled into the black orb. Little by little, Argon's body began to break apart like crystal shards that were pulled into the orb of death. He died with a peaceful look on his face. He had failed his mission, but finally, he was free from the shackles that bound him for centuries. He could die a free man.

Crack!

Finally, when everything was pulled in, the suction disappeared and the black orb turned into a black marble that was the size of a human eyeball. Leon held out his hand and stashed it away.
