The Black Necromancer

Chapter 81 An Eternal Rivalry

Chapter 81 An Eternal Rivalry

Cold, icy wind blew around the peaks of a pair of twin mountains in the zone that held A rank individuals. At the top of these twin peaks, two lean shadows could be seen standing quietly.

Wooooo!

The wind intensified, carrying flakes of snow along with it from the peaks.

"Silver Tooth, you responded to my call." One figure, that of a lean, dark haired man wearing large white robes with a pointy hat on his head, spoke.

"Oh, call me Richard. I've told you that many time, Bard of the East." The other figure, a silver haired man said with a wry laugh. The silver haired figure was Richard, who Leon had met briefly in Fort Bender.

"What I refer to you as does not matter, Silver Tooth. It has been a year since our last bout. We have both stepped into the realm of true powerhouses since then. Are you ready to taste defeat today?" The dark haired man who Richard referred to as the Bard of the East said coldly. He had on a mask that covered the upper half of his face, and pale golden light shone from the holes made for the eyes.

Wooooo!

Another sharp gust of wind through the mountain peaks howled ominously. Under the cold darkness of night, the sounds were even creepier, but none of them cared. They were strong and they knew it.

"So you really want to fight, huh?" Richard asked, rubbing his chin. Very well, then." He sighed and let out a deep breath. His eyes glowed with an eerie silver light as he pulled off his coat and shirt and tossed them aside. He spread out his arms and clenched his fists, letting gleaming silver claws stretch out from his fingertips. His shoulder-length silver hair grew longer and stopped at his lower back, while his teeth turned into long, vicious things as he stared down the Bard opposite him.

Come!" He growled and in the next moment, he had vanished.

BOOOM!

The mountain peak he was standing on only a second ago burst into pieces of hard, frozen rock as the force he used was too much for him to handle it.

Just before Richard had moved, the bard pulled out a small flute from the sleeve of his robe and held it to his lips. A sharp, melodious sound shook the mountain peaks as a golden shield appeared around him.

CLANG!

Richard's silver claws clashed with the solid shield that was conjured around the Bard. He flashed around several more times, slashing mercilessly at the shield, but he was unable to breach it.

"You do not have a chance at defeating me without showing your true nature, old foe." The Bard took a moment from his flute and said, his golden eyes darting around under his mask as they traced Richard's movements.

"You are right, Moses." Richard returned to the mountain peak he once stood at. His sudden appearance raised a small cloud of snow, but the silver light of his eyes still pierced the obscuring veil of dust and snow. When the cloud settled, Richard's tall, lean figure was revealed. Glowing silver hair covered most of his upper body and framed his face. He had an intense snarl on his face as he glowered at Moses.

Hunching his back, he drew in a deep breath before throwing his head back and letting out a blood curdling how that shook the air. Thick vibrations moved through the air, and if anyone below A rank was to withstand those vibrations, then they would most certainly not come out of it unscathed. That is, if they even survived.

Awoooooo!

Waves of power washed against Moses' golden barrier, battling with the sonic power that made up the shield.

Crack!

A jagged line appeared across the shield, spreading slowly but surely. A deep frown appeared between Moses' eyes as he witnessed this.

"It seems I will have to go all out as well." He murmured and his free hand rose up to the mask on his face. He pulled it off and stuff it into the dimensional space hidden in his sleeve, revealing a lean, tanned face. He blinked and his eyes turned into golden slits that stared at Richard, and an arrogant smirk spread across his face, revealing sharp fangs.

The truth about these powerful duo. Something that most people but their enemies and close allies knew. They were not human. Far from it actually!

Moses was a lone Vampire from a distant Vampire clan on a small continent called Evelon, the Land of the Night. This continent was given that name because of a strange, eternal phenomenon that caused this continent to always be stuck in an eternal evening. It was mostly dark, but also allowed a bit of sun that cast a dark glow over everything. This land was a perfect nurturing ground for creatures of the night, so Vampires who were naturally attuned to darkness roamed this land and ruled over it.

As for Richard, from his ongoing transformation, where silver fur spread all over his body, and his face elongated into a snout that exposed sharp, silver teeth covered in saliva, it was quite obvious what his actual race was. He was a Werewolf! His moniker, Silver Tooth, had been given to him by his enemies, as a way for them to remember this terrifying existence that defied common sense.

All Werewolves possessed a weakness to silver, but Richard not only disregarded this weakness, he turned it into his strength!

Richard was born with silver fur, something that immediately turned him into an outcast. His father abandoned him and his mother, leaving his mother to raise him alone while being ostracized by their entire race. Eventually, she was killed by head hunters who had been sent to kill him. That was when the Silver Tooth was born.

Richard's silver fur was like real silver, and was a weakness to all Werewolves that he did not take to kindly. As long as Richard saw you as a foe, his silver would weaken any Werewolf. He had discovered this power when he fought and killed the killers of his mother at the age of eight. Not only his fur, but even his teeth and claws were of silver. That was what drove home that terrifying moniker that stuck so long after.

These two people, Moses and Richard, had been at odds for decades. They took each other as rivals, as none of them conformed to the norm of their race.

Moses disregarded the Vampires' weakness for light, even developing an affinity for Light magic, while Richard embodied silver. Which abnormal would stand above the other? Until one of them bowed, this question would remain.
