Chapter 97 Dark Abyss Spider Nest (3)

Chapter 97 Dark Abyss Spider Nest (3)

Clang!

The sounds of metal clashing against metal rang out as Nero danced with a massive, long legged spider that was around the size of car. Despite its size, it was incredibly nimble as it waved its spear like legs to attack Nero from every angle possible. The loyal silent summon was having a hard time keeping up with all the rapid movements, but did not waver.

Grokus was also fighting a similar spider. Leon was getting to see more 'sigils' that the Orc has not used during fight, and he was truly impressed. Grokus was a rather flashy Orc to say the least. With all his sigils active, a myriad of bright lights swam around his form.

The most interesting ones that he had unveiled in this fight were the Gazelle Sigil and the Colossus Sigil. The Gazelle Sigil boosted his speed, turning the large, brutish Orc into a blur on the battlefield. He easily dodged the stabs of the spider's legs as he fought thanks to this sigil. As for the Colossus Sigil, it massively boosted his strength. Leon had already seen a demonstration of this earlier. A crumpled and devastated spider corpse laid to the side of the massive hall they were in. It was covered in burn marks, a sign of Kaladin's performance, but the most prominent injury it featured was the large hole in its torso, a memoire from Grokus' punch.

Bzzt!

Lightning buzzed beside Leon as Kaladin wave his arms, sending out bolts of lightning to strike the spiders and numb their limbs so that they would have a harder time fighting. He could use much more devastating spells to demolish the enemies, but Leon had ordered him to restrain himself, so he only used minor spells that numbed and restricted the spiders, acting as support for his comrades.

Leon relaxed at the back as he watched the battle, keeping note of all the new abilities shown off by this spider variant. The spider was a High C rank monster, and had a myriad of abilities that complimented its ability to fight.

Long, spindly legs that were jointed allowed it to make the most wicked of corners while fighting, making it hell to predict where its next attack would come from. A gaseous domain that constantly inflicted damage onto its opponent lingered a meter out of its body, making close combat much more difficult than ever.

Also, it had something that Leon was interesting.

Hummm!

A dark green ray of light passed over Grokus' body in a flash, and dragging over the carcass of its dead kin.

Tssss!

The material that made up the exoskeleton of the spider began to decomposed at a very quite rate. As for Grokus, the parts of his body that the beam had grazed burned up a little, before the corrosive mana of the beam was displaced by the mana that made up his body.

Leon's imagination surged as he studied that, his mind running quickly. 'That beam seemed to have a sort of rot effect. I wonder if I can somehow get my hands on it.' He told Nedra through their mental link.

'Rot Eyes to go with your Curse Eyes? I like it.' She replied from her spot beside him, a hint of excitement in her tone.

'Yeah, I like it too, but I don't know how I can get it yet.' He grumbled as he thought of how he would be able to get the skill.

He watched on over the next few minutes as his summons finished off the spiders. Then he walked over and rose them from the dead, turning them into his loyal servants.

They had come past half a dozen different halls where they had to fight varying numbers of spiders. The difficulty increased with each hall they reached, but so far, none of them had forced Leon to go all out, which was good.

They had been progressing slowly, taking a short break for Leon to recover his mana after every fight. It had already been several hours since they entered this dungeon.

"I suspect that we might be getting close to the boss room. Maybe a few more halls left." He told his companions after a short break of ten minutes. His level had climbed up quite a bit, and with that, his passive mana and health regeneration, so it took less time for him to top off his used mana.

The group set off again, and crossed two more halls with a multitude of spider monsters, before finally arriving at a different setting.

With the last spider monster killed, Leon sat down again to recover his used mana quickly. This time, though, instead of retreating into his mind to meditate, his gaze was fixed on the massive stone gate that dwarfed all the other double doors that had rested in the previous halls. He was sure this time, that they had reached the boss room.

"Looks intimidating." Nedra said, sitting beside Leon in her human form. She had grown bored of remaining in her true form when she was not fighting. Leon nodded, agreeing with her. The monster wave they had just killed had been led by a Peak C rank spider. What did that mean for whatever boss this dungeon had? Leon had no idea, but he knew for certain that he would need to put in his all if he was to kill the boss monster.

He summoned all his monsters at once, burning through half of his mana at once. Their presence made it so that his mana recovered at a slower rate, but that mattered little. He pulled a vial of blue liquid from an inner pocket of his windbreaker and downed it in one smooth motion. The liquid turned into a blue haze in his chest, but did not pour away.

At once, his mana shot up to roughly ninety percent, and he stood up.

"Alright, let's head in." He spoke. Two Royal millipedes pushed open the large gates at the front, the large stone gate being surprisingly light despite how large and sturdy it looked.
