The Blue Eyes

Chapter 113 - ANOTHER ACCOMPLICE

Chapter 113 - ANOTHER ACCOMPLICE

Kevin was standing beside the window. His arms folded neatly in front of his chest. His crystal-like eyes stared ahead at the wet yard outside the orphanage building. His gaze penetrated the glass window as if he was examining the wet scenery after the rain, but his mind was wandering wildly.

"Brother Kevin, the tea is ready. Aren't your legs sore from standing in that spot for more than ten minutes?" Blue asked the young scientist as her skinny hands put down four teacups on top of the coffee table.

Kris and Jack were also in the living room, but they didn't say anything since their arrival at the orphanage.

Jack was busy with his phone, while Kris was busy staring at Kevin. His lover had been silent since they came back from the Intelligence Agency's building. It seemed that something was bugging him, and it might be related to what happened in the Intelligence Agency's headquarter.

Kevin turned his head and sighed. Without saying anything, he walked over to the couch and sat down beside Kris. He grabbed a cup of tea and sipped it for a moment. He closed his eyes as the aromatic jasmine tea flowed down his throat to his stomach. The warmness and the sweetness were just right. Blue had been improving a lot since she officially became one of the caretakers in the orphanage.

"Thank you for the tea, Blue. It's delicious," the fair-skinned man praised the young girl as he put down the cup back on the table.

Blue's blue eyes sparkled when she heard her favorite brother's praise.

"Shall we go home now, Kev? You look so tired right now," Kris softly asked his lover as he stared at his lover's handsome face in concern.

Kevin shifted his gaze to Kris and answered, "I've made up my mind, Kris."

That one sentence was enough to gain the three people's full attention. Jack even put down his phone and looked up at the raven-haired man.

"You don't need to force yourself, Kevin. Take your time to calm yourself down. You've been so messy since the war ended. If your mind is not ready, then it can affect your immunity, and I don't want to take the risk."

Kevin silently digested what his lover had just said.

"Uncle is right, Brother," Blue chimed in. "It's not like you're trying to kill those innocent werewolves. Just wait for a week or two won't make much difference. Just take your time, Brother."

Kevin frowned and drew his gaze away from Kris. He blankly stared at the teacup in front of him. "Blue, were you serious when you warned Mrs. Hasler to not believe in anyone?" He then asked.

The young girl was a bit taken aback when she heard the unpredictable question from her brother. Kevin surely had not forgotten the moment when the girl warned the arrogant lady earlier today. Apart from Kevin, Kris and Jack were also curious and now patiently waited for the blue-eyed girl's answer.

The girl glanced at the three people one by one, and then she sighed. "I was serious back then, Brother," she answered carefully. "But, my warning is not for Mrs. Hasler only. That warning is also for ourselves."

The three men furrowed their eyebrows in confusion.

"What do you mean, Blue? Are you physic who can see the future? Can you tell me who will be my future wife?" Jack suddenly asked, and his question made the other three speechless.

"Jack, it's not the right time to joke around," Kris warned the black werewolf.

Jack just rolled his eyes and leaned his back on the couch. "Alright, I'll be serious now, but please answer my first question, Blue," he replied nonchalantly.

Blue scoffed when she saw Jack's attitude, but she still complied with the order and answered, "I'm not physic, but I can sense that someone has bad intentions for me. To be precise, that someone has bad intentions for us."

The three men's expression looked tense after Blue finished explaining the reason behind her warning today.

"And, who is that someone, Blue?" Kevin asked as he continued staring at the beautiful girl.

The stare made Blue gulp nervously. Her hands wringing on her laps, her foot tapping on the floor, and her irises were kept moving to avoid eye contact. Those gestures didn't go unnoticed by the three men in the living room.

"Blue? Are you still here?" Jack, who was sitting beside the girl, tapped her shoulder softly. That small touch made Blue flinch in surprise.

"I... I can't tell you guys for now," she then answered nervously. "My intuition is not always right. Do you remember when I had bad feelings about Uncle Kris before? My intuition is not always accurate, so I can't tell you for now."

Hearing his name being mentioned, Kris sighed and responded, "Your intuition about me was not completely wrong Blue. I was indeed a bad person for lying to you and Kevin. I dare to say that you were right about me back then."

Blue looked at the caramel-haired man with her gloomy eyes. She seemed to feel guilty for her bad attitude toward her uncle months ago.

"Wait," Jack suddenly spoke again, making the other three turn their heads to him. "I think Blue's intuition this time is also accurate. I just remembered something related to Professor Joseph Beischel."

The three people in the room were stunned by Jack's unexpected statement. Kevin looked the most surprised among them when his ears caught his father's name was being mentioned.

"What do you mean, Jack? What's the thing that related to my father?" The young scientist couldn't help but ask.

Jack guiltily looked at Kevin while his hand nervously rubbing the nape of his neck. "I was one of Professor Beischel's most trusted people—yeah, after Mr. Mike and the old Mario Doxon, of course," he started explaining. "The Professor trusted me so much during the last war. He often took me along with him to go to some places, and that was the time when I noticed something was not right with him."

The other three were shocked to hear the explanation.

"How can you say that, Jack? What was Professor Joseph doing to make you think like that?" Kris asked curiously.

Jack furrowed his eyebrows. His irises moved to the top left corner, and he was silent for a moment.

"I'm not quite sure about it," he then spoke again after a few seconds. "But, one time when we were on the island, I accidentally overheard him talking with someone through the phone. From his tone, I can guess that he was not talking to Mr. Mike or Mario Doxon. It looks like he was talking to someone powerful, so he had to be careful with his words. I'm not so sure about that, though."

Kevin listened to the story seriously, and then he asked, "Do you mean my father had another accomplice all these times?"

Jack looked nervous, but he didn't answer the young man's question. His expression was full of doubt. It seemed that he didn't dare to make baseless accusations at this time.

The atmosphere grew tenser as it started raining again outside the building. The clouds outside were thick and black, covering the sun to the point that its light couldn't penetrate them. Now Serein City was hugged by darkness and gloominess.

"Jack," Kris suddenly called out the black werewolf. "The island that you were talking about earlier, is that the island where my father used to live?"

Jack, who was still nervous, suddenly turned to Kris and nodded his head. "Yes. The Professor made a phone call when he was in your father's house."

Kris clenched his jaw after hearing Jack's answer. He then made a resolute decision, "I have to go to the island. I need to make sure about something there."

The other three people were stunned by Kris's final decision.

"What are you going to do there, Kris? The island has been investigating by so many people already, but they can't find anything there," Kevin chimed in.

"I know, Kev," Kris quickly replied. "But, I still have to give it a try. I will go to the island tomorrow."

It was obvious that no one could hold Kris back now. The tall man had made an ultimate decision that couldn't be obstructed by anyone.

"Then, I will go with you," Kevin volunteered without any doubts on his face.

Kris was a bit surprised to hear the words. "What? No, Kev. You stay in the city and have some rest. You want to cure the innocent werewolves as soon as possible, don't you? Then you have to rest your mind so you will be ready for the extraction soon," he adamantly rejected Kevin's offer.

Kevin was about to protest, but then Kris glared sharply at him, so he shut his mouth right away.

"If you don't let Kevin go with you," Jack suddenly interrupted the couple's fierce battle, making the couple turn their heads to him. The tattooed man then continued, "Then, let me go with you, Kris."
