Chapter 115 - IN-LAW
Chapter 115 - IN-LAW
"What do you think about Jack?"
That was an unexpected question coming out of Kevin's mouth, making Blue frowned in confusion while tilting her head innocently.
It was a holiday, so she didn't go to school. Even so, the smart girl was still busy reading the textbook in the living room of the orphanage.
She couldn't help but look up at the scientist, who was standing beside the window again. It felt like a déjà vu. Yesterday Kevin was also standing in the same position. His gesture was also the same as yesterday.
Kris dropped Kevin at the orphanage before he headed to the deserted island with Jack this morning. The tan-skinned man didn't want his lover to feel lonely in their apartment, so he decided to send his lover to the orphanage. At least Blue would be there with the scientist.
"Why did you suddenly ask me about Jack, Brother?" She asked the older man.
Kevin's eyes were fixated on the light rain outside the orphanage building. His mind wandered, was it also raining on the island? Was his lover doing alright now?
The black-haired man glanced back at the girl and answered, "I'm just curious." He looked at the girl intently. "You managed to persuade him to join us and stop the havoc. I guess you have a good relationship with him?"
Blue bowed her head, she tried to disassemble what was on her heart. "Jack was good to me when I was being captived by the werewolves. Sometimes he was still rude and harsh, but I know that he cared about me. He was with me almost 24/7 back then. He helped me a lot when I was being chained," she answered softly.
Kevin smiled a little and walked to the couch where Blue was sitting on. He placed himself beside the beautiful girl.
"I'm glad that he treated you well back then. Kris still can't fully trust Jack until now, but after hearing your story, I think we should give Jack a chance."
Blue blinked innocently at the older man. She then put down her book on the table and asked, "Do you really have 'that' kind of relationship with Uncle Kris, Brother?"
The man was slightly taken aback by the girl's question. "Why do you ask me that, Blue? I thought you already know the answer," he replied.
The girl sighed and shifted her gaze to the ceiling. "I can guess, but you haven't officially announced your relationship with him, so I don't dare to make an assumption," she answered honestly.
The scientist smiled when he saw how mature Blue was. The girl surely had been improving a lot after she went through many things last year.
"If that's the case, then I'll make an official announcement now, Blue," the man stated confidently. "Yes, I'm currently in a romantic relationship with your uncle. I'm sorry that we're not telling you about that before. We couldn't find the right time to do that, and we thought you already found out about our relationship since you're so casual every time you saw our PDA." He chuckled at the end of his sentences.
Blue turned to Kevin again and silently examined the latter's expression. The felicity on his face was so obvious when he talked about the other man. His almond eyes shined bright like moissanite, his cheeks turned pink just like azalea, and his thin lips formed an upward crescent moon. The jubilation was just too apparent.
"I'm glad seeing you are happy, Brother," the young girl then replied after she was quiet for a few seconds.
Her face was adorned with a sincere smile, and Kevin was stunned to see the expression. His chest trembled, and it felt like exploding in no time.
"I'm very happy to hear your response, Blue. I was insecure before. I was worried that you couldn't accept our relationship," the scientist responded with a shaky voice.
Kevin couldn't describe how happy he was to get Blue's approval. He considered Blue as a family, so Blue's green light meant a lot to him.
Other than Kris, he only had Blue in this world. Moreover, Blue was Kris's niece, so technically, he just got approval from his in-law. That made him beyond happy.
The young girl chuckled when she saw her brother's expression. "Why shouldn't I accept your relationship with my uncle, Brother? You and my uncle are very important to me. Your happiness is my top priority, and I can see that you two are very happy now. I can only give you my blessings, Brother."
Kevin felt like crying, but he tried so hard to hold back his tears. He then hugged the young girl tightly. "Thank you, Blue. You're our family, so your opinion matters to us. Kris will also feel very happy to know that you support our relationship," he said gracefully.
Blue returned the hug without a doubt. She slowly patted the older man's back. "It feels like I have a complete family with a mom and a dad now," she whispered.
Blue's voice came out so softly, but Kevin's sharp hearing could hear the whisper. He carefully pushed the girl's body to end their hugging session. "Which one is the mom between us, Blue?" He asked curiously.
Blue furrowed her curvy eyebrows as she blinked at the man. "Isn't that obvious, Brother?" She then asked innocently.
"How can that be obvious?" The scientist asked back hastily. "We both men, so we both are dads. Don't you dare to consider me as your mom!"
That warning got Blue giggle cutely. "So, you admit that you're the one who is more suitable for the mom role, Brother?" She teased the older man.
Kevin's eyes widened at the tease. "Blue Allaband! Take back your words!" He scolded the young girl.
The blue-eyed girl couldn't suppress her laughter anymore, so she laughed out loud while her hands holding her stomach.
Kevin's face reddened, and he couldn't stand the humiliation anymore. He then stretched out his hands to tickle the young girl. The young girl's laughter getting louder and louder because of his action.
"Please stop, Brother! I'll take back my words!" The girl pleaded in between her waves of laughter.
Kevin stopped his action and glared at the black-haired girl. "You better not tell your uncle about this mom thingy. He will laugh his ass off if he knows about it," he once again gave a warning.
Blue tried so hard to suppress her laughter. Her brother was so fun to tease. She had known Kevin for seventeen years, but it was the first time she saw this side of her brother.
The man suddenly sighed as he leaned back on the couch. He then fished out his cellphone from his back pocket. "Kris hasn't contacted me yet. It makes me worry," he said as he checked his phone.
"Do you think there's a phone signal in the remote island, Brother?" Blue asked curiously.
The tall man nodded. "One of Kris's father's subordinates made a signal booster or something in the island."
Blue nodded in understanding as she also leaned her back on the couch. "Let's just wait patiently then," she said. "The island is so far, so maybe they will only go back to town tomorrow. Will you go back to your apartment or will you sleepover here, Brother? I will prepare a room for you if you want to sleep here."
Kevin glanced at the window. It was already afternoon and still raining. He then turned to Blue again and said, "I think I should sleep here, Blue." He slowly put his phone back in his pocket. "Your uncle brought his car to the harbor. He promised me to buy a car, but we don't have time to go to the shop. It's quite troublesome to take a taxi to go anywhere."
Blue smiled tenderly at her brother's complaint. "You guys can go to the shop after my uncle comes back from the island, Brother," she replied.
Kevin sighed before leaning his head to the back of the couch. He then brought his eyes to stare at the ceiling.
"I'm not sure about that," he responded. "I have a feeling that things will get more complicated after Kris and Jack come back from the island. I can't help but feel worried about Kris."
Blue peered at her brother silently. He knew her brother so well. Her brother was a caring person who would prioritized others over than himself. Moreover, Kris was not a mere 'other person' for him. Kris was his everything.
"I envy your relationship with my uncle, Brother," Blue stated as she drew her gaze away from the man. "You two care about each other so much. I can see that you two love each other so much."
The scientist lifted his head and turned his head to the girl beside him. The girl was quite cheerful these days, but now she looked a bit sad and troubled. He smiled a little then put his hand on top of the girl's head.
"When the time comes, you will also experience a relationship like that," he said in a loving tone. "You will find someone, Blue. You will find the right one."
