The Blue Eyes

Chapter 150 - JULIA CONCORD

Chapter 150 - JULIA CONCORD

The newcomer breathed heavily in the doorway as he squinted his eyes to the two figures on the sofa. His face was red, but his expression is black. It was apparent that the man was angry.

Jack and Kevin immediately separated themselves from each other and cleared their throat awkwardly.

"Did you plan revenge on me, Kevin Beischel?" The newcomer asked darkly.

Kevin hastily got up from his seat and waved his hands in a hurry. "I was just teasing him, Kris! We weren't doing anything!" He explained to the man.

Yeah, the man who just came with a pair of green eyes was none other than Kris. He kicked the door behind him, and the door slammed close. He took a few wide steps forward and finally stopped right in front of Kevin.

Meanwhile, Jack was still sitting calmly on the sofa. It felt like a déjà vu.

"Why did you need to be that close to Jack when you only teased him, Kevin?" Kris asked his lover coldly.

Kevin gulped nervously. "Uh." He looked a little hesitant. "It was fun to see his nervous expression. I didn't mean to do anything with him! I swear!" He moved his hand up with his index finger and middle finger raised when the rest fingers were folded, and that was the moment when Kris caught his bandaged hand.

Kris quickly grabbed Kevin's wrist and asked, "What happened to your hand?"

Kris's expression had completely changed. His face was no longer dominated by black aura, and now he was staring at Kevin with a concerned look.

The shorter man tried to withdraw his hand, but Kris was stubborn to tighten his grip on his wrist.

"It was just a small incident, Kris. It's not a big deal," Kevin answered as his eyes darted to anywhere but Kris.

Kris frowned, and he suddenly inhaled deeply. That was when he sensed something was not right. He then let go of Kevin's hand and quickly left the living room. He went back to the living room with a bloody knife in his hand.

"I found it in the kitchen," Kris stated as he lifted the knife a little higher. "And I smell your scent here, Kevin. It's your blood, isn't it?"

Kevin got more nervous than ever. He glanced down at Jack, but the latter avoided his gaze.

"Kris, I just accident—"

"I was the one who hurt Kevin's hand."

Kevin was stunned as he looked down at Jack again. Jack was the one who just cut his speech, and he stared at the tattooed man in horror while the latter getting up from his seat.

"We fought, and I hurt your lover's hand."

Kris didn't reply to Jack's confession with the word. Instead, he punched Jack's face straight and strong. Jack fell on the sofa after he received the hard punch.

Kevin gasped and immediately helped Jack to sit up. "Kris!" He exclaimed at his lover. "Why did you hit him? You haven't even heard my explanation, but you already hit him!"

Kris's breathing was still heavy and uneven when he turned to look at Kevin with a sharp gaze. "Just tell me what the hell is going on!" He shouted to his lover.

Kevin's body shrunken under the shout. "Please sit down first, Kris. I'll explain to you after you sit down properly," he said.

Kris groaned as he ran his hand to his hair. Even so, he didn't protest anymore and just threw his big body on the single sofa. Kevin also sat down on an empty spot beside Jack.

"Julia came here a few hours ago," the young scientist started his explanation. He saw Kris frowned in confusion, so he continued. "Julia Concord was Andre's wife. You still remember about Andre, right? He was my colleague who died because of a werewolf." He glanced a little at Jack.

Kris was quite taken aback by the explanation. "Why did she come here? Did she want to avenge on his late husband?" He asked as he peered at Jack.

Jack could only duck his head and didn't say anything. He was ready to be punished by Kris after this.

"You guessed it right," Kevin answered. "She shouted at Jack and was about to stab Jack's chest with a knife when I arrived."

Kris's jaw tightened. "And you stupidly grabbed the knife to save this bastard?" He exclaimed again as his finger pointed at Jack.

Kevin's almond eyes fixated on Kris for a moment, but then he drew his gaze away and sighed. "Can you imagine if a pregnant woman kills someone, Kris?" He asked in a low voice. "If Julia killed Jack, she surely would be sentenced, and she might give birth in the prison. Can you imagine how the child will grow up? The child's father had been killed, and the mother killed the killer. I know it's revenge, but it's still a crime. I won't let Andre's child live a difficult life."

Kris was astonished. His gaze moved slightly toward Kevin's unwounded hand, and he saw the hand was clenched into a fist. He knew that his lover had a soft heart and couldn't bear seeing others suffer.

The caramel-haired man then sighed and replied, "I understand Kev. I didn't mean to scold you." He softened his tone to comfort his lover. "As long as you are okay, then I will not angry anymore."

Kevin finally shifted his gaze to Kris again and smiled in relief. "Thank you, Kris," he replied. "I've promised myself that I will protect Julia and Andre's child. I've offered to be responsible for the child's needs in the future, but Julia rejected my offer. She said that Andre had left her some money to take care of the child."

Kris nodded while smiling tenderly. "What does Julia do for a living now? If it's possible, I also want to help her," he offered sincerely.

The sincere tone stretched Kevin's smile. "Julia is currently working for the Intelligence Agency. Her salary is quite high, I guess," he answered.

This time, Jack and Kris looked equally shocked. It seemed that they didn't expect Kevin's answer.

"The woman is working for the Intelligence Agency? So, that is the reason why I accidentally bumped into her when we had a meeting with the medusa lady there some time ago?" Jack chimed in. For a moment, he forgot about his guilty feeling.

"You met Julia at the headquarter? How come I don't know about that? I didn't see her when we were there," Kevin replied confusedly.

"I accidentally bumped into her when I went back to the meeting room to take my phone. I didn't sense any weird thing with her, so I didn't tell you about that encounter."

Kevin only responded to Jack's explanation with "Ah, that makes sense," but Kris seemed to be deep in thought after Jack finished explaining.

After a few seconds of silence, Kris turned to Kevin again and asked, "Won't it be dangerous for us if Julia works for the Intelligence Agency?" The latter frowned at the question, so he continued, "She probably knows lots of things about us. She has a grudge on Jack, and she might do something bad to us with the information she gets from the Intelligence Agency."

Kevin and Jack were stunned. It seemed like they didn't think about that possibility before.

But, Kevin didn't stun for so long as he immediately replied, "Julia will not do that." He stared firmly at Kris. "She is a professional, and she will never use her position to go against us. When Andre was still around, he often got secret pieces of information from Julia, but she shared the information to Andre just because she trusted Andre, not because she wanted to leak the national's secret."

It seemed like Kris was not quite assured by Kevin's answer, and he still stared at his lover sharply.

"Stop staring at your lover like that," Jack suddenly interrupted Kris's staring moment. "Your lover knows Julia better than you, so you should trust him. He even called Julia with a nickname. It's obvious that your lover knows her so well."

Kris was startled, and he turned to Jack. "What do you mean?" He asked coldly.

Jack was about to answer the question, but Kevin was faster than him. "I have known Julia and Andre for years. They are like a sister and a brother to me," he explained to Kris, then glared at Jack. "Stop provoking my boyfriend, Jack. I know you want to avenge on my tease earlier, but your revenge is not funny."

Jack just shrugged as he giggled nonchalantly. He then leaned his back on the back of the sofa.

Kris was still glaring at Kevin, but then he sighed and massaged his tired temple. "You haven't checked your phone, have you?" He suddenly changed the subject.

Kevin frowned, but his hand swiftly moved to his back pocket. He fished out his sophisticated phone and turned it on. A new message popped up, and he widened his eyes.

"The government asked us to watch the antidote injection process?"
