The Blue Eyes

Chapter 16 - ADOPTION

Chapter 16 - ADOPTION

Kris's adoption procedure for Blue had been taken care of by the orphanage some time ago. The procedure was straightforward, and the conditions were also not difficult for the adopting party. Kris only needed to sign a few documents before he finally became the legal foster parent for Blue.

The adoption process took about two weeks, and today everything was finally completed. Today Blue was officially leaving the orphanage with her new guardian, and she also got a last name to accompany her lonely first name. Blue Allaband didn't sound too bad, did it?

Four people were sitting in the simple living room of the orphanage. There was Monica as the head of the orphanage, sitting beside her was Blue, and opposite them, Kevin was sitting with Kris.

An exuberant expression plastered on the head of the orphanage's wrinkled face. To her delight, Blue finally had a home to come home and had a family member to look after her. She was beyond happy because of that. It looked like she was over the moon.

"Blue, have you decided how would you call Kris? You have to be polite to your new guardian," the lady warned Blue, who was now sitting quietly beside her.

Blue had been silent since earlier, her face also didn't show any expression. It was clear that she was still reluctant.

"Uncle," she only uttered that one word and fell into silence again.

"You're going to call him 'Uncle', Blue?" Kevin was the first to respond to Blue's answer. It was apparent that he was trying to hold back laughter. It seemed like he just found a good teasing material to tease Kris later.

Even though they were both the same age, but Blue used two different ways to call them. The simple but essential matter probably would ruin Kris's pride.

"You can call me by any name, it's not a big deal for me," Kris finally replied. He certainly felt uncomfortable seeing Kevin's behavior, who had been mocking him even though not verbally.

The grey-haired lady laughed at the behavior of the three young people in front of her. "Then, where are you going to bring Blue to live, Kris? Blue's school is in the city, and it may be very troublesome if you take her to move to the coast. Blue has already in her final year at school, so if it's possible, she should not transfer schools," she gave a piece of advice.

"I have thought about it, Ma'am. Blue doesn't need to transfer schools. I have already rented an apartment unit for Blue in the city. Even though I have adopted Blue, but I'm not going to live with her. We are not related by blood, and it may cause negative rumors for Blue in the future."

The head of the orphanage nodded with satisfaction at Kris's answer. The lady was overjoyed seeing how thoughtful Kris was. The man had even intended to spare Blue the negative rumors from the start. It seemed that she could entrust Blue completely to Kris.

"Then, where are you going to live yourself?" The lady asked again.

"I will still stay at Kevin's house," Kris answered casually.

That answer immediately made Kevin glare at him in disbelief. "Hey! Who permits you to stay at my house? Why are you so shameless, huh?" He was furious after he heard Kris's unilateral decision.

"Aren't you happy when someone accompanies you at home? Just admit that you're lonely because your foster parents live abroad." Kris voiced his defense.

Kevin, who felt cornered, finally chose to remain silent and looked away with his crimson face. He was embarrassed but could not deny that he had been lonely because he had to live in a big house alone.

Kris's presence at his house was quite profitable, after all. It turned out that the burly man could cook and clean the house diligently. Now he didn't have to hire a maid anymore because Kris had become his new maid. Oops.

Besides, Kris was also very useful like when he was drunk some time ago. Yes, when the two of them were drinking beer together in front of Kevin's laboratory building, the scientist finally fell unconscious just because of a can of beer. In the morning, he did not even remember what had happened the night before. He only woke up in his room with a sensation of dizziness in his head.

It looked like Kris dragged him home after he got drunk. His car had to be left in the office parking lot because Kevin could not possibly drive when he was drunk.

Everyone seemed quite happy with their deal, except for Blue. The girl who just got a foster parent hadn't shown any elated expressions since earlier. Even though Kris had been showing good manners to her these past few weeks, Blue was still reluctant to trust that handsome young man. The bad feelings about Kris were remaining.

"Since everything is settled, then we should take our leave now, Ma'am. Thank you very much for the help you have been providing so far. Take care of yourself, Ma'am," Kris politely represented Blue to say goodbye to the lady who had been caring for her for a long time.

The lady nodded with mixed emotions and immediately hugged Blue tightly as a sign of goodbye. Not to forget, she whispered wise words of advice in Blue's ear, and Blue almost shed tears as she realized that she would be away from the woman who she considered as her biological mother.

Farewells were never fun, and Blue became even more displeased that Kris was the one who caused them to separate. Even though Kris would vouch for her future needs, but she still didn't feel happy about it.

A few minutes the two women of different ages hugged each other before they finally separated themselves. The grey-haired lady once again stroke Blue's cheek lovingly for the last time before the girl would completely leave the orphanage.

After the sad farewell, Blue, Kevin, and Kris then left the orphanage. The three of them immediately got into Kevin's black sedan and planned to go straight to Blue's new residence, which was not too far from the orphanage.

"Don't be too sad, Blue. You can visit the orphanage any time, your new place is not too far, anyway. I was also doing that after I got adopted," Kevin tried comforting the blue-eyed girl. It seemed like he could feel the sadness of Blue, who was now sitting in the back seat.

"I know, but I'm not sad about that," Blue replied in a low voice. "I'm sad because my new uncle is so shameless by wanting to stay at your house, Brother," she added while glancing at the man who was sitting at the front seat next to Kevin.

Both Kevin and Kris are stunned by Blue's answer. Once again Blue acted like that because of Kris. It had been few months, but Blue's attitude towards the tan-skinned man remained unchanged.

"So, you have objections to that?" Kris finally asked the young girl. "If you have any objections, then I will immediately find another place to live. I hope that can make you feel better," continued the tall young man.

Kevin glanced awkwardly at Kris, suddenly feeling bad about Blue's unbending attitude towards him.

"Blue, I don't mind if Kris wants to stay at my house, so you don't have to worry about that," Kevin tried to mediate the tension between the two people.

"Brother Kevin, you're too naïve," Blue replied stubbornly. "You don't know who he really is. What if he stabs you while you're sleeping? What if he robs your house's valuables?"

And Blue's obstinate behavior made Kevin suddenly pulled over his car and pressed the brake pedal hard, making Kris and Blue's bodies swayed forward due to the sudden braking.

"Have I ever taught you to be rude like that, Blue?" Kevin asked in a snapping tone, he seemed like he could no longer hold back his exasperation. Blue was usually stubborn, but this time Blue's stubbornness was completely outrageous and baseless.

In Kevin's eyes, Kris never seemed to do anything bad to Blue. On the contrary, the tall young man always showed his care and kindness to Blue. The tan-skinned man had always cared about Blue's feelings.

Kevin didn't understand why Blue hated Kris so much. Was there anything he didn't know going on between the two of them?

On the other hand, Blue looked very surprised at Kevin's yell. For almost seventeen years she had grown up with the young man, for the first time she was shouted at by Kevin very loudly. She really couldn't believe that Kevin would prefer to defend Kris over her.

"Kevin, you don't need to scold Blue. I've decided to find a place to live today, so you don't have to worry about that. I don't want to cause any trouble between us." This time it was Kris's turn to mediate the tension between Blue and Kevin.

Hearing Kris's words, Kevin closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He was getting ready to drive the car again, but not before he glanced at Blue and said coldly, "I'm disappointed in you, Blue."
