The Blue Eyes

Chapter 19 - THE BLACK WOLF

Chapter 19 - THE BLACK WOLF

It felt like a déjà vu. On the same day, Blue asked him two similar questions that actually had the same meaning. It turned out that Kevin was right, Blue was indeed a stubborn girl. She was very hardheaded as if her head was made of marble.

"You really want to know who you are?" Kris asked after a few minutes of silence.

Blue nodded firmly and replied, "I'm quite sure it all has something to do with the absence of any data about my past. My background is definitely not that simple. I'm definitely not just the daughter of an illegal immigrant that there's not a single data about me. There must be another reason why I have absolutely no past stories."

Kris smiled in awe. It was true that Blue was no ordinary girl. Apart from having a mysterious power ingrained in her, the girl also possessed above-average intelligence. Of course, it was not easy to fool a smart girl like her.

"You're right," Kris responded. "Your background is not that simple. Many unexpected things will surely surprise you, but I can't tell you about that for now. I'm afraid that your mental state is not ready. You may lose control of your power again. You don't want to hurt those around you because of your power, do you? So, you better be patient."

Blue considered Kris's words carefully. Indeed, her current mental state was unstable. Many things surprised her, and maybe she really needed more time to finally ready for any possibility in the future.

If Blue could tell the truth, for now, she was still afraid that her mysterious power would appear again and she couldn't control it. She wasn't ready to feel guilty again. That was definitely like a terror.

In the end, the girl sighed and said, "Okay, I understand." She nodded curtly. "But, can you at least answer my previous question? Am I really not human?"

Very stubborn. The high school girl said that she already understood, but at the end of her paragraph, the same question was tucked in.

Just like a Polish proverb: "You can't heal stubbornness."

"This is the last time I answer your question tonight. I don't care whether my answer will make you satisfied or not," Kris tried to be patient and continued, "Blue, I can confirm that you are human, but what kind of human, I can't tell you right now. I promise I will let you know when the time comes."

That explanation actually did not answer the question. The answer was just a play on words. That was just like: "I give you candy, but you can't eat it right away. To find out what flavor it is, you have to wait until I let you taste it."

Blue was not stupid to take that as an answer. The things were still blurry for her, but she would not force Kris anymore. She would only wait patiently for the tall young man to give her an unambiguous explanation.

"It's already late, you better have some rest," Kris spoke again as he got up from his seat. The man seemed ready to leave the apartment.

"Where are you going?" Blue asked. She also got up from her seat.

Kris casually fished his car keys out of his jacket pocket and played them in his hand. He then answered Blue's question, "Hotel, maybe. I haven't been looking for a new place to live. I'll look for a place to live tomorrow. Why? You want me to stay the night?"

Blue shuddered in horror when she saw that sly grin plastered across Kris's annoying face. "Only in your dreams," she replied with an expression of disgust.

Kris ignored the answer and immediately turned towards the apartment door. He was about to grab the doorknob to open it, but suddenly he seemed to remember something. He looked back slightly at Blue, who was still standing not far behind.

"For your sake, don't tell anyone about this matter, including Kevin," he warned the young girl behind him.

"I won't tell anyone about everything, but you have to promise not to hurt Brother Kevin. He has nothing to do with all of this."

Hearing the terms put forward by Blue made Kris laugh for a moment. "From the start, I had no intention of hurting Kevin," he said.

"But, you deliberately approached him so you could approach me. That means you take advantage of him, and that may hurt his feelings."

Again, Kris laughed at the accusation voiced by the young girl. "You don't know anything about us, Blue. You better not jump to conclusions," he said before he finally opened the door and left Blue's apartment. He left Blue who was still dumbfounded at her standing position.

Kris's long legs tread elegantly on the tiled floor. He then took the elevator down to the underground parking lot, and it didn't take long for him to arrive at the parking lot which was absolutely deserted.

It was already half-past eleven, almost midnight, so it was no wonder that the place was so deserted with no sign of life.

The young man continued walking toward his car which was parked in the corner of the parking lot. He finally arrived at his red car and was about to open his car door when his sharp eyes caught a glimpse of a very fast-moving image from the side. His head reflectively turned to the direction the shadow moved, and he smirked coldly.

He slightly looking left and right to make sure that the place was empty and free of surveillance cameras, then he transformed into the form of a big wolf with caramel brown fur?the same color as his late mother's. His eyes, which were brown before, had turned red.

With a movement as fast as the light, the wolf form of Kris moved in the direction the shadow left. His movements were so fast that even surveillance cameras could not catch his shadow.

The wolf form of Kris moved very quickly out of the underground parking lot, then rounded the apartment building and arrived at the back of the apartment which was covered in tall bushes. The place looked like a forest even though it wasn't very spacious.

In that place, a wolf with red eyes and black fur was waiting for him. Kris then transformed back into a human figure after arriving there.

The black wolf in front of him also did the same. He transformed into a tall and burly man. His face was quite attractive with a pair of upturned eyes, a button nose, and a pair of thick lips. His hair was black and short. Along his right arm, various tattoos were drawn.

Kris smirked even more viciously when he recognized that figure.

"Long time no see, Jack Madris," Kris's greeted in his masculine voice. At first glance, the tone sounded ordinary and didn't sound harsh. But, that simple greeting actually was full of bitterness in every word.

"Yeah, long time no see, Kris. I was too busy with my missions, and you were also too busy with your human life. That's why we haven't seen each other for a long time."

The words full of sarcasm that escaped Jack's thick lips made Kris's vile smirk fade. The expression on his face now turned very cold. "What are you doing here?" He asked in a flat, cold tone.

"I was ordered by your father to watch over you. Your father told me that you didn't report about the progress of your mission to him in a long time, so he sent me to keep an eye on you."

Kris's jaw tightened at Jack's narrative that was voiced in a sickening tone. He actually had suspected that his father had sent Jack to meet him.

Kris and Jack, they did not have a harmonious relationship since long ago. Jack was one of his father's favorite men, and his father often compared him to Jack. That made him sick.

Jack was also an accomplished sycophant, and he was very good at ingratiating his father's heart. The two of them were actually the same age, but not friendly at each other at all.

"I was focused on my mission and didn't have time to report to my father. I'll report to him after this," Kris finally opened his mouth again.

But, Kris's response was taken lightly by Jack. "Oh, is that true? Is that true that you are focused on your mission? Didn't you spend the past few months fooling around with a handsome scientist more than completing missions?" He asked condescendingly.

Kris's muscular hands were clenched tightly on the sides of his body as if he was holding back from beating the irritating man right away.

"Watch your mouth, Jack. I'm earnestly carrying out this mission, so you better step aside. You're just bothering me!" Kris retorted.

Jack even laughed lightly at Kris's annoyed tone. The tall man with black hair then spoke arrogantly, "You better be serious, Kris. If you keep playing around, this big mission will move into my hands, and you will get kicked out by your father."
