The Blue Eyes

Chapter 263 - THE BASTARD

Chapter 263 - THE BASTARD

["Your mother drank alcohol for the first time back then, and we six people were wasted. We left the bar past midnight, and we separated with one another in front of the bar. I went back with Joseph, and our two friends were going back together as well. It was only your mother and one of our friends that looked confused there. I asked that friend to take care of your mother before I left with Joseph, and I thought nothing would go wrong afterward."

Selena continued the story, and Grace silently squeezed her hands on the table. She didn't know why, but she had a bad feeling about the continuation of the story.

"I didn't think anything would go wrong until the next morning when your mother came to me while crying miserably. She told me that someone had taken her virginity the night before."

The younger girl widened her eyes upon hearing Selena's words. His eyes became warmer after hearing the continuation of the story, but she tried to hold back her years.

"Someone... someone took my mother's virginity? You mean, someone harassed her sexually?"

Grace didn't want to hear a 'yes' from the other woman, but to her dismay, Selena weakly nodded her head to confirm her guess. That was just a non-verbal answer, but it was enough to break Grace's heart.

Grace was speechless, and she could feel her heart pounded loudly as she continued her question, "Is it your friend who accompanied my mother in the bar who had taken her virginity?"

That was the only assumption in her head, so she immediately voiced out her suspicion. And again, Selena nodded her head to answer the question.

"That man was wasted, and he forced your mother to satisfy his lust. Your mother didn't tell me the details, but in general, your mother lost her virginity that night because of that man."

Selena couldn't even look into Grace's eyes as she continued telling the story. She probably felt guilty because she was the one who trusted her mother to their male friend.

Now, Grace was troubled by the reality. She thought she would feel relief after knowing the details about her father, but she ended up feeling hurt by the reality behind her existence in the world.

"Did you and my mother report the harassment to the police?" The young girl asked another question coldly.

Selena dared herself to look into Grace's hazel eyes as she replied, "Your mother didn't want to report it. She told me that both of them were drunk, so it wasn't that man's fault. And she also told me not to think about it too much because she thought that she probably wouldn't get pregnant. After all, she was no longer young back then."

Grace stared at Selena in disbelief after the older woman finished speaking. "But she was wrong, right? She was pregnant because of that man, right?"

The female professor fell silent again, but her quietness was enough to confirm Grace's suspicion.]

"Your mother was pregnant with you back then?" Kevin asked the fierce lady because the lady suddenly stopped telling him the story.

And even if Grace didn't continue the story and didn't answer his question either, Kevin knew the answer already.

"Didn't your mother ask for his responsibility?" Kevin questioned again after getting no answer to his previous question.

"She did," Grace finally answered. "But that bastard didn't give a shit at all. He already had a wife and his own family back then, and he didn't want to admit what he had done to my mother. He was rich and powerful, and all he did was give money to my mother and ask her to do an abortion."

Kevin gasped upon hearing the lady's answer. "He gave your mother money for abortion, so it means he indirectly admitted that your mother got pregnant because of him, right?"

"Logically, yes. But he didn't admit it verbally, so my mother couldn't do anything with it."

"But your mother should have reported him to the police, right?"

"No. She couldn't report him to the police."

Kevin furrowed his brows when he heard Grace's stern reply.

"That bastard didn't only give my mother money for abortion, but he also warned her not to bother him anymore. He asked my mother to just forget her misfortune and prohibited her from reporting it to the police, or else..." Grace explained, but she suddenly paused. "He said that he would kill all of her family if she dared to report him to the police."

Kevin was stunned upon hearing Grace's continuation of the story.

"He even dared to blackmail your mother, so it's indeed a crime!" Kevin looked upset when he spoke again. "And my mother knew about that, right? Why didn't my mother help your mother to report that person?"

Grace could see that the young scientist was beyond angry, but she just stared at him flatly. "Your mother was the only one who knew about it, but my mother had warned her not to do anything related to it. Your mother could only comply with my mother's wish to help her hide from society because she's so embarrassed by herself."

Kevin couldn't believe what his mother did in the past. His mother should have reported the bastard to the police, but she didn't do that.

"It's not your mother's fault," Grace suddenly spoke again, as if she was able to read his mind. "That person is indeed dangerous, so even if they reported that man back then, it could be a backlash because they didn't have any proof of that crime. If they acted recklessly, perhaps they were the ones who would end up in jail."

Kevin frowned because he kept hearing Grace say that the man was dangerous, but he didn't know who the man was.

"I think you should tell me who the man was so that I could judge whether it's my mother's fault or not."

Kevin was stern when he asked for the details, and Grace was also firm when she answered, "You know the man, Kevin."
