Chapter 145 - REMEMBER ME?
Chapter 145 - REMEMBER ME?
Cynthia's laughter vibrated in the hall in the middle of the crowd of rich people, circulating her and Daniel as they talked.
Pauline turned her head away from the sight. Tinsley touched her shoulder giving her comfort and support.
It was not easy for any woman to watch her man, mingling with people with his ex.
"I'm fine!"
Pauline said, smiling at Tinsley. She could not be more thankful for having her with her tonight to keep company. She had no idea what she would have done if she had not invited them.
"You can tell me...tell yourself that you are fine...but you are not, deep down you know you are not. "
Tinsley pressed. She wanted to give Pauline as much support and consolation she could at that time.
"Watching your husband...the man you love with someone that is not you...is the hardest sight to behold."
Tinsley confessed, being hurtfully honest. She would not be able to see Kian with anyone else that was not her...it was the truth.
Hell! Even when Nathan mentioned about one name of the woman from his past life, it nagged her entire self for a goddamn week.
"You have grown up!"
Pauline remarked, remembering the face of that sweet silent teenage girl ten years ago.
"And you are still young whereas Daniel..."
"Old?"
Pauline completed for her. Tinsley nodded not trying to be polite at all in that piece of information.
"My father used to say the same about us...but my heart could not help itself from falling for that old guy!!"
Pauline asserted, tilting her head back to look at him, happy in the arms of his previous wife.
The evening passed with them chatting about the men in their lives. Tinsley found herself asking about Cynthia.
Pauline told her that she had married five years later to some Italian Landlord and Business Magnet.
They met with a terrible accident, killing her husband and the unborn child in her womb.
Ever since Cynthia took to travel and never settled in one place more than a month. She had the fortunes of her husband to spend for the next generation.
So when Pauline gave a call to her, she was here in the nick of time. She had seen how her eyes glowed watching Daniel for the very first time after two decades.
Pauline saw love...the love that faded away when she stepped into Cynthia's ex-husband's life.
Till to this date, sometimes, Pauline felt herself condemning Daniel coming to her when he had such a pretty heiress as his wife, his childhood lover.
Could her life had been different if she had not felt for a married man who claimed that he missed being in love after falling out of it from his wife??
Yet when his eyes met with Cynthia, the other day, she saw it...she saw the love and admiration he had for his first wife when they were married and in love.
It was then in that moment, Pauline felt as if she had committed a mistake...a mistake of coming in between two lovers, breaking their marriage and ending it forever.
She felt like the third wheel in the relationship. But the time had flown too far and fasted for her to recede it back or travel back into it and chose the road not taken.
"I love him, Tinsley, and in the end that news only calms my nerves, my senses to keep me going..."
Pauline let out, drinking her wine flute. Tinsley kept her eyes on Pauline throughout the entire narration.
"And now I m too deep to just go!"
She completed and then excused herself to go catch up with her husband. Tinsley sighed watching her trying to reach her own husband as Mr Anderson laughed away in the arms of Cynthia.
Before it got too late, she turned around to go find her husband. Listening and hearing Pauline, she could not tell whether the woman was happy or upset or was drowning in guilt for coming in between a broken marriage??

Serena Williams!!
The name...the damn name kept ringing in his head and how much he drank, it kept ringing no matter what.
Her dark skin, brown globes of eyes, deep black hairs and her full lips stretching for a smile....
It echoes in his mind and he closed his eyes trying to shut it. He had a wife now...he was happy with his wife. He really was.
Damn!! He cared for Tinsley than he ever cared for any soul on earth.
Yet, he knew it...he knew it that deep within himself, he still could not bring in it himself to love her.
He was incapable of loving his wife...yet. And he was not sure why. He had no valid reason for it.
He had poured his heart and soul to her. Maybe not all of him but most of him. Yet it was not enough to say he loved her.
He was not sure if she loved him too the way she claimed. It was a complex task to know if she meant it...if she really did or it was just an infatuation too for her.
For a man like him who ran around statistics and proof, without proof not believing anything. It was hard to believe her...even his wife.
It was not like he had not tried to walk out of his comfort zone. He did...he did it with her but she just disappeared.
Vanished in the thin air...after everything they had been together??
Would a woman who claimed to love him just leave him like that out of nowhere??
"Hey!"
Kian tilted his head to see a woman. He narrowed his eyes at her, not recognizing her at first.
His eyes descended down to the women's providing belly and looked back up at her.
"Do you not remember??"
The woman asked him, with a smile on her face. Kian found himself shaking his head in negative. He really did not recognise her one bit.
"You served the pie in the cafe when me and my husband..."
"Oh, fuck!!! Shit!!"
Kian closed his mouth, not daring to speak another word with his hands. He remembered. It was that pregnant woman.
The woman chuckled and Kian dropped his hands from his mouth. He could not help but keep glancing at her round belly.
"I did not get the chance to thank you for bringing the pie at the right time..."
"Mention not!!"
Kian said. The woman continued regardless.
"I was so happy to break the news to him you know and really did not bother about anything else at that moment. "
The woman said. Kian nodded his head, not knowing what else to say. It was awkward to talk with a stranger, more awkward when you could not keep your eyes off her belly.
"I m three months in, heading to four months in five days!"
She asserted, proudly, rubbing her very pregnant belly with her hands. Kian's eyes were stuck on her all the time.
"Do you want to feel it??"
The woman offered, watching how curious he was. Kian at first hesitated but then accepted it.
The woman took his hand and placed it on her belly. Kian's hand shook on feeling it, being nervous. It was a very special feeling.
"People say that how hard it is for women to have a child, you know. In the religion, it says that we are cursed to have to go through this...but they do not know that it's the ultimate blessing..."
Kian listened to her words, running his hand around her belly.
"Carrying a life is the most miraculous thing ever on Earth!"
Kian nodded, totally agreeing to the words of the woman. It was true. Every good thing comes with a price, lots of pain in the way so that when you hold the life, you created in your hands and feel that fresh wave of peace, calm and immense joy.
You feel all of that only because you felt the pain of having it. The pain makes you understand and perceive the feeling of happiness, its value.
"It was worth it after four years of long struggle..."
Kian could not keep his hands to himself anymore as he felt like coming in contact with the baby inside of the woman's womb.
"My wife and I had a miscarriage."
He did not know why he said that out loud to a complete stranger. And even after seeing how she eyed him with pity and sorrow, he had no idea why he did that.
"I m sorry!"
"It's fine!!! We are fine for now!!"
Kian spoke, pulling his hands back to himself and inside his pockets.
"We all say that...that we are fine but in reality, we are far from it...for a woman who has gone through it all, I can't imagine what you and especially your wife must have went through."
