Chapter 1180

“Mom, I need to attend to something else. I’ll take her with me first. She won’t be accompanying you for

this meal,” Warren said as he left the room with Amelia.

Lydia sat alone in the private room, her eyes seething with anger. Her son had excelled in every way,

and she hadn’t needed to worry about him since his childhood.

Nevertheless, when it came to matters of emotions, her son would become a mess.

Now, he was deeply involved with Amelia. She feared that Warren might lose his life because of Amelia

one day.

“What an injustice! Such a terrible injustice!” Lydia sighed bitterly.

At that moment, Warren whisked Amelia out of the club. Before Amelia could utter a word, she found

herself being swiftly placed in the back seat of the car.

“Warren!” Amelia exclaimed, “What are you doing? Where are you taking me?”

“Since it’s mealtime, we are naturally going to grab a meal first,” Warren said before instructing the

driver to start the car.

The car gradually pulled away from the club, and Amelia attempted to free herself from Warren’s grip

by twisting her wrist.

“If I hadn’t appeared today, were you planning to accept my mother’s request and stay away from me

forever?” he asked casually as his voice echoed in the car.

Amelia’s body suddenly tensed. At that moment, a palpable sense of danger permeated the car,

causing her hair to stand on end unconsciously.

It felt as though if she gave the wrong answer to the question, the potential consequences would be

more than she could handle.

Amelia remained silent. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t bring herself to utter the word “yes.”

Warren suddenly leaned in, his face drawing close to Amelia’s cheek. “Since you’ve appeared in front

of me and have chosen to become caught up with me,” he declared, “it’s not up to you to decide if you

never want to see me again!”

Amelia’s heart trembled.

After a considerable drive, the car pulled up at a restaurant. Warren helped Amelia out of the car and

escorted her into the restaurant.

A manager was already waiting for them. “Mr. York, will you be taking your usual seat?”

“Yes,” Warren answered placidly.

The manager led them respectfully to a relatively secluded table, surrounded by screens on three

sides, ensuring privacy.

Although the head of the York family had brought a pregnant woman to dinner, the manager naturally

refrained from displaying inappropriate curiosity. However, his curiosity was exceptionally piqued at that

moment!

“Order whatever you want,” Warren said to Amelia. “Also, the oatmeal here is decent and easy to

digest. You can order it.”

“I’ve never dined here before, so I’m not sure what’s good. You can go ahead and place the order,”

Amelia suggested.

Warren gave Amelia a quick glance and placed the order. He opted for dishes with mild flavors,

evidently to accommodate Amelia’s pregnancy.

After a while, the dishes came one after another.

A plate of shrimp was brought to the table. Amelia was about to start peeling them, but Warren spoke

up first, saying, “I’ll do it.”

After saying that, he naturally took the shrimp from her hand and began to peel it with his slender

fingers.

Amelia was momentarily taken aback. It reminded her of the times when they were in love, and he

used to help her peel shrimp shells just like that. Back then, her heart had been brimming with joy and

contentment. She had felt that her boyfriend was incredibly gentle and considerate, and he made her

feel like the happiest woman in the world.

However, at that time, she had been unaware that his gentleness and consideration were solely

motivated by a desire for revenge.

It was revenge for what her father had done to the York family. Since her father was no longer around,

she would bear the brunt of all his vengeance.

“What about now? He is peeling shrimp for me again. Why is he doing this?” she wondered.

He shouldn’t have any affection left for her, and now she was the one in need of a favor from him. What

was his intent behind peeling the shrimp for her?

When Warren finished peeling a shrimp, he put it into her bowl. She didn’t eat it for a long time and just

stared at the peeled shrimp.

“Won’t you eat it?” His voice sounded in her ear.

She pursed her lips and took a deep breath. “Warren, do you want to take revenge?”

He narrowed his eyes subconsciously and stared at her.

“Is this your way of seeking revenge because I mercilessly broke up with you and wounded your pride

before?” she inquired, gazing up at him.

He said in a deep voice, “Do you think I’m trying to take revenge on you?”

“You claim to have no feelings for me, yet you’re peeling shrimp for me,” she said with a bitter smile.

“Your tenderness makes me question if you want me to fall in love with you, only to subject me to the

same agonizing pain of loving someone who can’t be mine.”

His face was cold. “So?”

“If you’re seeking revenge against me, that’s fine,” she continued, “but I hope you can wait until the

baby is safely delivered. As your mother suggested, if you’re willing to let Alicia go, for now, we can

revisit the opportunity to bring her to justice later. If you agree to this… then you can exact your

revenge on me as much as you please.” She spoke with a determined expression as if she were ready

to stake everything on her proposal.

Warren sneered coldly, “Amelia, you are so self-righteous!”

Suddenly, he stood up and walked away, leaving Amelia alone at the table surrounded by the

untouched dishes.

She smiled bitterly. Perhaps now that things had reached that point, everything she said would be

wrong.

She gently speared the shrimp he had peeled for her with her fork and brought it to her mouth. It should

be delicious, but for some reason, as she ate it, she felt like crying.

Warren stood before the restroom sink’s mirror and examined his reflection.

It appeared that, in her eyes, his tenderness had been mistaken for his desire for revenge. However, in

truth, he couldn’t even explain to himself why he had peeled the shrimp for her just moments ago.

It was as though it had been an instinctual gesture as if his body had yearned to look after her and

protect her.

It was truly pitiful and pathetic!

He had made the decision to erase their past relationship from his mind. Even when she was right in

front of him, he should remain composed, but occasionally, his body seemed to have a mind of its own.

He let out a soft and bitter laugh.

After dinner, Warren sent Amelia back to the hotel.

“Stop thinking about making a deal with my mother. If I don’t wish to release Alicia, no one can sway

my decision,” Warren declared indifferently.

“Well… if I keep pleading with you, will you reconsider?” she inquired, gazing at him with a hint of hope

and longing.

He pursed his lips tightly and departed from the hotel room without answering her question.

Amelia’s eyes dimmed. It seemed that her visit to Lofbury should come to an end, as it appeared that it

would yield no results.

Amelia found herself unable to sleep that night, her thoughts consumed by concerns about Riley’s

whereabouts.

With Warren no longer available to help her make progress, Amelia realized she had to return to Strico

and explore alternative avenues.

Furthermore, it was almost time for her prenatal examination.
