Chapter 831

Before Jennifer could respond, Guillermo, standing nearby, swiftly shielded her by pulling her behind him and stared at Wrenna vigilantly. “You’ve made your apology. You can leave with Ms. Sabatini now.”

Wrenna glared unhappily at Guillermo. Witnessing his protective stance toward Jennifer, she felt as though her possessions had been snatched away from her.

“He used to belong only to me,” she thought bitterly.

“Guille, I realize I shouldn’t have spoken ill of your mother today. Please forgive me,” Wrenna pleaded. Her words carried a genuine tone far more sincere than her previous apology to Jennifer.

Deep down, Wrenna genuinely did not want Guillermo to despise her. Guillermo remained silent, yet his gaze, fixed upon her, was icy and indifferent.

Then, another set of equally indifferent eyes was fixated on Wrenna. “Wrenna, who taught you to say those words?” Jonathan inquired. Wrenna was startled and hastily replied, “Papa Jon… I-It was my decision to apologize, and I just spoke my mind.”

Jonathan’s eyes grew even colder after hearing that. “Is that so?”

Abruptly, he instructed Gary, who was nearby. “Take these three children for some desserts.”

“Understood,” Gary replied, realizing that Jonathan was trying to distract the three children.

He then approached the three children and led them to the dining room. During the walk to the dining room, he inquired, “What would you like to eat later? Ms. Youngblood, are you still in the mood for matcha cake today?”

“I don’t want to eat matcha cake!” Wrenna immediately exclaimed. She despised the taste of matcha more than anything.

Suddenly, Gary paused and clarified to Wrenna, “Wrenna, the Ms. Youngblood I meant is Jennifer.”

Wrenna’s small face instantly flushed with embarrassment, and her tiny frame tensed up. Gary’s words served as a stark reminder that she was. merely an adopted daughter.

“I used to be ‘Ms. Youngblood’ when I was here, and now I can only be seen as Wrenna. It’s all because of Jennifer!” thought Wrenna bitterly. Wrenna believed that if it weren’t for Jennifer, she would have been the sole “Ms. Youngblood” in the family, and both Jonathan and Guillermo would have belonged to her exclusively.

As Gary departed with the three children, Jonathan, Rosalie, and Agyness remained in the living room.

Agyness keenly observed Jonathan’s expression while her mind

strategized on how to steer the conversation toward the situation she desired later.

“Jonathan, I’m really sorry for the words spoken by Wrenna,” Agyness apologized sincerely.

“Oh? What has she just said?” Jonathan countered casually.

“I’m referring to her statement regarding Rosalie and her mentor’s alleged improper relationship. I was unaware she had used my mobile phone to watch those chaotic videos. Naturally, the notion of any romantic involvement between Rosalie and Mr. Smuckler is utterly preposterous. These individuals online are hurling baseless accusations. Some have even suggested that Mr. Smuckler was too kind toward Rosalie and that it even led him to intentionally lose a lawsuit, all in an attempt to elevate her standing within the legal community.”

Agyness appeared to be clarifying and assisting Rosalie in defending her reputation. However, in reality, she was propagating the online negative rumors, desiring Jonathan to be fully aware of the situation.

“It appears you possess considerable knowledge about the comments on the internet,” Jonathan remarked with a subtle smirk.

“It’s because I am concerned for Rosalie. Wrenna and I owe a great deal to the Youngblood family, and I consider myself part of your family,” Agyness explained to Jonathan. Then, she turned her gaze toward Rosalie, saying, “Rosalie, sincerely, I believe you should maintain some distance from your friend, Lillian. Associating closely with her might cause others to perceive you in the same light as her.”

Rosalie regarded Agyness with a chilly stare. “You lack the authority to dictate what kind of relationship I should keep with my friend. Furthermore, our acquaintance isn’t substantial enough for you to address me as familiarly as ‘Rosalie.’ I would prefer it if you referred to me as ‘Mrs. Youngblood.”

Agyness instantly feigned hurt feelings. “I’m genuinely concerned about you. You mentioned this afternoon at the kindergarten that we will rise and fall together. Have you considered the potential harm continuing your association with Lillian might bring to the Youngblood family?”

She continued, “Nowadays, the news has made it widely known that Lillian is a mistress, a fact even a five-year-old child could learn about through the news. Even though there’s no romantic involvement between you and your mentor, people will draw connections due to your friendship with her!”

Agyness persisted, saying, “Furthermore, women like Lillian deliberately dismantle established relationships. Callum was on the verge of getting married back then! In my opinion, Lillian is a shallow

and morally reprehensible woman. She abandoned Callum when he

was facing challenges. Now that he has succeeded, she’s unwilling to relinquish the glamour and affluence. Hence, she purposefully ensnares him…”

Slap!

A loud slap brought Agyness’ sentence to an abrupt halt.

Agyness, her face shielded by her hands, stared at Rosalie in disbelief. She never anticipated Rosalie would suddenly strike her, let alone in front of Jonathan.

“You have no authority to judge Lillian,” Rosalie said icily. “If I hear you. speak ill of her again, I won’t hesitate to slap you again!”

Rosalie’s words were sharp, and her eyes were filled with resolve and icy determination.

Agyness’ heart quivered, yet she countered, “I speak out of concern for the Youngblood family. Associating with someone like Lillian could tarnish the reputation of the entire Youngblood family…”

Slap!

Another slap struck Agyness’ face, cutting off her remaining words.

“I’ve warned you. Should you speak ill of her once more, expect another slap,” Rosalie said icily.

Agyness’ eyes welled up with tears as she turned to Jonathan with her eyes red. “Mr. Youngblood, I acted out of concern for the Youngblood family. Perhaps Mrs. Youngblood’s attachment to the family has waned during her five-year absence, but I consider the Youngblood family my own. I cannot bear the thought of the family being slandered by others in the future!”

At that moment, Agyness’ cheeks were red and swollen. She put on an expression of a delicate and heartbreaking semblance, resembling a tear-streaked visage. Her appearance exuded a sense of profound pity. Jonathan inquired, “Does it hurt?” His voice was gentle.

Agyness experienced a subtle sense of gratification, recognizing that men often favored women who appeared vulnerable. This preference was especially pronounced in light of Rosalie’s assertiveness, as she deliberately presented herself as helpless while deeply contemplating the Youngblood family’s future.

However, Agyness’ heart plummeted the next moment as she watched Jonathan walk toward Rosalie, gently taking her hand and expressing his

concern.

“He… How could he inquire about her pain after she slapped someone?” Agyness pondered incredulously.
