Chapter 859

After all, Paul had grown up in a strict upbringing with high intellectual development, he was quite a broad-minded and unbiased gentleman. Thus, he was calm and collected when he heard Charlie describe his ‘job’, unlike others who usually looked at him differently afterward.

As for Charlie, there was nothing for him to feel embarrassed or ashamed of. He was a live-in son-in- law for three years now, it was nothing new for people to learn that he was a moocher.

At this moment, Paul said, “By the way, Charlie, since you know Mr. Cameron from Shangri-La, I wonder when is it convenient for you to introduce him to me? Well, I intend to actively expand my local resources and network in Aurous Hill since I’ll be shifting my company here. I will be very grateful if you can help me with this.”

Charlie didn’t want Paul to know how close he was to Isaac Cameron. He almost guessed his connection with the Wade family just now, after all, it could be possible that he would discover more details and information if he got to know Isaac through him. Thus, he said apologetically, “Frankly, Paul, Mr. Cameron and I are just acquaintances, I just happen to know his friend personally, and it’s quite shameful to say that I met this person during one of my feng shui jobs.”

“Feng shui?” Paul blurted, surprised, “Charlie, are you a feng shui master?”

Charlie smiled faintly and said, “Oh no, don’t call me that, I’m not a master. I read some books and learned from an old master in the past. To put it bluntly, it’s more toward an art of deception.”

Trying to get Charlie out of embarrassment, Jacob diverted the topic, “By the way, Paul, what is the nature of your business? I assume it must be a big corporation since you have shifted your company from the States to Aurous Hill, am I right?”

“Uncle Wilson, our company is actually a multinational law firm, mainly providing high-end legal support for some Fortune 500 companies.”

“So, Paul, you are a lawyer too, then?”

“Yes, Uncle Wilson. My dad and I are both lawyers. To put it bluntly, I inherited his profession.”

“I heard that the requirements for becoming a lawyer in the States are very high, am I right? Generally speaking, don’t you need a Ph.D. as the minimum requirement?”

Paul smiled slightly. “Yes, Uncle Wilson, you are right. There are two professions in the United States that have the highest academic requirements, and that are doctors and lawyers. Generally speaking, a formally registered lawyer must have at least a certified master’s degree from a law school.”

Jacob nodded and said, “What degree are you then?”

Paul humbly said, “I’m a Ph.D. graduate from Yale Law School.”

Jacob gasped and nodded in amazement. “Wow, Yale! It is a world-class Ivy League! It is really amazing to be admitted to a doctoral program in such a prestigious university!”

“Uncle, to be honest, getting a doctoral degree only means that you have the academic qualification to be a lawyer, the certificate opens the door for you. But to become a truly excellent lawyer, you need to go through a long period of growth experience, at least 10 to 20 years of experience, and practical experience in hundreds of successful cases. So, for me, I am nothing but an entry-level rookie.”

Then, he looked at his mother and said, “Actually, I have just graduated. My experience is not enough to run our law firm independently, so I only assume the position of general manager on the surface, but the true hero is my mother who helps me behind the scenes and even guides me to run the company. Without her, the company would probably be ruined in my hands.”
