Chapter 3
Kill the One Who Was Reborn (2)
“Ah!”
Zhao Zhizhi suddenly felt such intense pain that she screamed out loud, her face contorted in agony.
The official was stunned.
He instinctively waved his knife and charged at Zhao Zhizhi, stabbing her.
Zhao Zhizhi stared with her eyes wide open. She lowered her head in disbelief. The knife pierced into her heart and blood was gushing out from the wound.
She had a chance to be reborn. Yet, she died again without even stepping out of Lengshui Village.
Feeling bitter and resentful, she fell to the ground.
Zhao Chuchu’s face was expressionless. She did not regret killing Zhao Zhizhi, the foolish woman.
Why should she keep this woman alive? She was the one who was bent on killing Zhao Chuchu in the first place.
The official who killed Zhao Zhizhi stared in astonishment. “My lord...”
“She’s been talking nonsense and misleading everyone. It’s not wrong to kill such a person.” Li Jiang looked on indifferently.
Zhao Zhizhi had attempted to incite the villagers to stir up trouble. She was up to no good. He decided that if the official had not killed her, he would also have taken her life personally.
The villagers hushed at the sight of a dead Zhao Zhizhi.
Li Jiang looked at Zhao Chuchu and asked in a cold voice, “Did you see what happened to her? She was not able to escape her fate eventually.”
Zhao Chuchu had recovered a little of her energy. “Please give me a chance, my lord.”
“You must die.” Li Jiang was now completely devoid of compassion after what he had witnessed in Zhao Zhizhi. “Just like her, you must perish!”
If there was further trouble, he would instead be the one who had to die.
“I won’t try to save all of them.” Zhao Chuchu was no saint. She only singled out those who had not asked for her life earlier. “Give me two days. If they don’t get well after two days, you can kill me. We can’t escape from here anyway. Please, my lord, let me give it a try.”
Li Jiang’s face darkened. He turned to ask the villagers, “What is her name? Does she know how to heal people?”
The villagers had their hope turn into disappointment. Filled with intense bitterness, they stared at Zhao Chuchu grudgingly. “Zhao Chuchu can’t even read and write. She doesn’t know anything. She’s lying, my lord!”
“This jinx grew up on a farm and has been working in the fields all her life. How can she know medicine? Don’t fall for her lies, my lord. I’m her grandmother. I know her better than anyone else.”
There was a murderous light in Li Jiang’s eyes. “Kill Zhao Chuchu first.”
“Yes, my lord!”
“She knows how to read and write. I taught her.” The young man grabbed Zhao Chuchu’s hand and spoke out.
Zhao Chuchu was about to brush his hand aside when fragments of obscure memories flashed across her mind. She froze for a moment.
In her previous life, she was a military doctor who had perished in the apocalyptic world. She was reborn into a post-apocalyptic world where she had amassed a huge amount of supplies in space. In her new life, she had unearthed her supernatural powers, only to have her life taken away again when she was struck by something thrown above her.
This time, she had traveled through time and landed in the era of the Wei Dynasty when the country was struck by plague. She was now reborn as a young girl, bearing the same name. The girl had died after being infected by the plague. Her parents had died when she was young, causing her to lose her ability to speak.
She had just come back to life and was almost burned to death. Now after trying so hard to preserve her life, she was faced with a Zhao Zhizhi who was bent on taking her life.
Most importantly, her space had accompanied her to this new life. Although it only had a storage function, it contained supplies worth billions of dollars.
However, she was not able to use her supernatural powers that freely now. She was only allowed to use them twice a day. Otherwise, her body would not be able to endure the stress and she might die.
As Zhao Chuchu recalled the memories, she turned to look at the young man.
The heavens really loved to play jokes on her.
She had been single in both her past lives. Now she had skipped the process of falling in love and became a married woman.
The young man who was named Xie Heng was now her husband in her present life. He was pretending to be blind.
Previously, before she was exposed to the memories of the original owner of the body, she had let exposed herself unwittingly. Now she had to cook up an excuse to convince everyone about her identity. She did not want to risk being labeled as an evil spirit and being burned to death again.
“How did a mute like her start to talk now?” Madam Yang demanded to know. “Don’t tell me you healed her? Xie Heng, you are only a scholar. You’re not a doctor. Otherwise, why can’t you cure yourself of your blindness?”
