Chapter 422: So where is the Paradox?

(Author’s Note: Huhuhu, I really am sorry for this very long chapter. I just could not split this chapter into 2 as I feel that it would break the vibe in this chapter... Oh, and I have an exam tomorrow, so I will only post 1 chapter tomorrow. Consider the extra length of this chapter as the recompense for tomorrow’s only 1 chapter. Enjoy!)

Tempted.

Fang Yu was highly tempted to open the door right now.

Even if Solomon did not say that anything about what was behind the door, Fang Yu will still have the impulse to open the door, as her whole body was screaming at her to open the door!

Fang Yu even had to force herself to not move, as she felt her body wanting to open this door.

“Hohoho, you’re trying to stop, but your body is telling you yes~” Solomon said as he sashayed behind Fang Yu. His voice was right beside Fang Yu’s ears as he slowly said, “Come on, what’s the matter, don’t you want to open it?”

“Ugh...” Solomon’s current attitude rubbed against Fang Yu the wrong way, as she felt that Solomon still had an ulterior motive.

Solomon seemed to have read Fang Yu’s thoughts as he said, “You think I still have an ulterior motive? Hahaha! It’s good to be cautious, but will you always be this wary? Sometimes, you have to take risks too. And now, you have to decide if you want to take that risk or not...”

“Ah, whatever!” Since she was already curious and that there is no way for her to reject her wants, Fang Yu decided to throw caution into the air.

Her footsteps were slow as she approached the door. Her footsteps sounded heavy, showing Fang Yu’s heavy feelings as she grasped the door handle.

“Schwing!” The door let out a bright glow, which immediately gave Fang Yu a repulsive force. “Guh!” Solomon who was behind Fang Yu, let out a grunt as he was forced back by this repulsive force.

Even if Solomon looked stronger, it seemed like it is still impossible for him to move forward under the pressure by the door.

As for Fang Yu, she’s also feeling this pressure, but to her surprise and relief, it seems like she can somehow withstand it.

“Ugh...” Fang Yu moved her arm forward as she slowly pushed the door. Solomon who was watching behind Fang Yu, let out an excited laugh as he saw that his hypothesis was right.

Fang Yu really can open the door! But even if Fang Yu can somehow withstand the pressure, she still found it extremely difficult to move forward.

Every move felt like there was a massive mountain pressing down on her, hindering her movements.

Fang Yu ignored this pain as she continued on pushing the door. “Fall of Starlight!” “Red Martial Aura!” “Khalkotauroi Armor!” “Mountain Bashing Boar Essence!” “Ice-Fire Nascent Soul!”

Seeing that the door was still hard to move, Fang Yu decided to use some of her abilities to augment her power.

This time, a resounding creak was heard as the door began to be opened smoothly. “This is it...” Solomon whispered as his body tensed. “Just a little more....” “Boom!”

After 10 minutes of intense pushing, Fang Yu felt a powerful obstruction that prevented the door from moving anymore.

Fang Yu looked at the door, and she saw that it was now open two-fifths of the way.

Fang Yu tried pushing the door more, but no matter what she did, she could not push it anymore.

“I think you should stop now.” Solomon said, seeing Fang Yu’s attempts to open the door more. “You are just wasting your strength. Look, you can fit your body with the gap that you opened. Why open it more?”

Fang Yu paused as she realized that what Solomon said was indeed right. “Sigh, I guess I shall enter then.” Fang Yu said as she looked at Solomon. “Are you joining me?”

“Joining you? Hell no.” Solomon shook his head vehemently, as if he found this matter ridiculous.

“Even if that door is open, I think the future you had installed more traps against unwanted intruders, which I think will not work on you.” Solomon hugged his body protectively as he continued talking.

“I do not want to just put myself in danger for something that only you are required to do.”

“...Fine then.” Fang Yu shook her head as she entered the door gap. Upon seeing that Fang Yu fully went past the door, Solomon sighed as he began to sit cross-legged in front of the door.

He idly played with his fingernails as he muttered, “Oh Fang Yu, how would you react once you talked to yourself?”

“Thud, thud, thud.” Fang Yu steps were slow as she moved cautiously.

After entering through the door, Fang Yu found herself in a dark room, and the only thing glowing in this room was located at the far end of the room.

Fang Yu steeled her breath as she decided to slowly approach that glowing object. Even if Solomon said that it will be safe for her, Fang Yu still decided to move carefully as she stayed alert for any signs of danger.

After 10 tense minutes, Fang Yu was able to reach her destination. “A coffin?”

When Fang Yu reached the glowing object, she realized that this object was actually a human-sized and human-shaped coffin. The coffin was made up of countless precious metals, so precious that even Fang Yu drooled at the sight of them.

Each of these metals were so valuable and precious that Fang Yu just wanted to bring it with her now. But then Fang Yu’s covetous intentions disappeared as she saw a person inside the coffin.

“Damn... I know I should not be saying something like this given my situation... But she really looks beautiful...” Fang Yu muttered as she observed the appearance of the person inside the coffin.

The person inside the coffin was a female, and she looked extremely beautiful. Her body held the perfect proportions, and her skin was blindingly white. Fang Yu’s breath hitched as she confirmed one thing after observing the woman inside the coffin.

“This woman... she really looks like me!!!” The woman in the coffin looks extremely similar to Fang Yu, so much so that Fang Yu thought that this woman was a carbon copy of her!

“So this is the future me...” Fang Yu said as she slowly caressed the surface of the coffin. “She looks to be in deep sleep... If that was the case, then how will I be able to know the truth?”

“Hmm?” As her eyes roved over the coffin, Fang Yu saw that there are actually 2 bodies inside the coffin.

One was the future Fang Yu, and the other one was the future Tang Li! The future Tang Li looked just like its baby version, which made Fang Yu extremely confused.

“Don’t tell me that when the future Tang Li became older, her body regressed to a baby’s? Ugh, I will just deal with that in the future...” This future Tang Li lay in Fang Yu’s bosom, looking peacefully asleep as she assumed a fetal position.

Fang Yu scratched her head as she realized she does not know what to do now. Now that she saw her future version, what should she do? “Should I just wait for something special to happen?”

Will there be something that will wake up the future Fang Yu, or should Fang Yu be the one to wake her future version up? Fang Yu looked around her, and she realized that aside from the coffin, there is nothing ese inside the room.

“Tsk, in times like this, the only thing that I can do is to investigate! Only additional clues can lead me to something!” Fang Yu then let out a tired sigh as she decided to inspect everything in the coffin.

“Hey there little girl, no need for you to do anything, I am wide awake now.” While Fang Yu was busy inspecting the sides of the coffin, she heard a melodious but also mischievous voice that seemed to resonate with her. Fang Yu looked inside the coffin, and there she saw that hey eyes of her future version were wide open.

The future Fang Yu, or the Goddess, stared at Fang Yu with that eyes of hers. “Erm, hello I guess?” Fang Yu said, not knowing how she should talk with her future self. “Seems like you had a great beauty sleep now...”

“Beauty sleep? Heh, I just used this coffin to help preserve myself.” The Goddess said as just like Solomon, she suddenly let out a cough.

Blood spilled from her lips which started to drip down her jaw Upon seeing this, Fang Yu realized that even if the Goddess looked fine, her body seems to still be heavily injured.

“S**t, all that sleep, and I only managed to recover 10% of my power? Seems like it is almost impossible for me to recover then.” The Goddess said as she scowled.

“Wait.” Fang Yu suddenly said as she noticed something weird. “You just woke up now, and yet you are not surprised on seeing me, which is technically your past version?”

“Duh...” The Goddess gave Fang Yu a withering look as she said, “It is true that I was deep in slumber earlier, and I only woke up when you entered this room of mine. But with my advanced cultivation base, I managed to deduce everything that happened in just a second!”

The Goddess seemed to be just as boastful as Fang Yu as she said these words with a wide smile. “So what do you think? Aren’t I amazing?”

“Let’s talk about you being amazing later.” Fang Yu replied as she addressed the more important issue.

“Since you managed to deduce everything already, then that means that you already know about Solomon’s plan to change this timeline. Now, I am asking you, should I believe in him?”

“Solomon is one big fat liar, and most of the time, he lies to take advantage of people, whether they are his allies or his enemies.” The Goddess replied quickly. “Tsk, I knew it.” Fang Yu muttered as she let out a sigh.

“But even if he was like that, I think you should follow what he said.” These words of the Goddess just contradicted what she said earlier!

“But I thought you said Solomon was a liar...” Fang Yu’s voice trailed as she gave the Goddess a doubtful look. Her eyes then widened as she realized something.

Fang Yu gave the Goddess a wary gaze as she asked her, “If even you had the desire to change this timeline, does that mean that you really... went through some tragic things? Solomon did not lie about that?”

“.....”

Upon hearing this question, the Goddess’ eyes slightly dimmed. She shifted her gaze to the future Tang Li who was still sleeping. The Goddess slowly caressed the future Tang Li’s head as she answered Fang Yu’s query.

“What you said was true. I definitely faced a lot of tragic things... and I was not strong enough to overcome them. Because of that, I lost many of my friends which up to now, I am still regretting...”

Fang Yu winced as she felt the pain present in the Goddess’ voice. They way her lips trembled and her eyes teared up just showed the amount of emotional pain that she was going through.

The way the Goddess looked right now can be compared to a person who had been mentally and emotionally scarred.

The Goddess looked broken, and it seemed like she was at the verge of losing her sanity. Even Fang Yu was not sure if the Goddess will suddenly turn loco in front of her.

“You seem scared on what will happen to you in the future.” The Goddess said to Fang Yu as she composed herself. “That is only normal. We all fear what can hurt us.” “Then can you tell me-”

“No.” The Goddess decisively cut Fang Yu off as she rejected her request. “I will not tell you what I went through, because it will defeat the purpose of everything I went through.”

“What the f**k do you mean by that?” Fang Yu replied angrily at the Goddess. “If I do not know what made you like that, then how am I supposed to avoid them?”

“You are not supposed to avoid them.” The Goddess gently replied, much to Fang Yu’s chagrin. “The things that you will experience later... they are there to hone you and your mentality! It will be up to you to surpass them!”

“Let me guess...” Fang Yu gave the Goddess a pitying look as she scathingly said, “You failed to surpass those trials, right? That will be the only reason why you, the future me, became like this...”

“You are right...” The Goddess smiled a little, looking seemingly disappointed with herself. “I have been rash, and it cost me a lot of things...” “......”

While she was talking with the Goddess, Fang Yu suddenly noticed something weird. It may be just her, but she could only feel the aura of the Yin Body inside the Goddess.

As for the aura of the Yang Body, which is the male counterpart, Fang Yu could not sense any of it around her!

“Future me, where the hell is your male counterpart? Why is he not here?” “I cannot answer that question.” The Goddess replied once more, much to Fang Yu’s irritation. “But once you go back to your Present Timeline, you will know that answer to that question.” “Sigh.”

At this point, Fang Yu realized that the Goddess will not explain to Fang Yu anything related to the trials that she will face. But with the way the Goddess talked to her, Fang Yu realized one thing. And that just like Solomon, the Goddess wanted Fang Yu to change the Future Timeline.

“So, do you have any requests that you want me to do at the Present Timeline?” Upon receiving the Goddess’ approval, Fang Yu knew that they will be no problems for her now even if she goes back. The Goddess herself wanted Fang Yu to go back, so there must be no devious schemes that Solomon had laid down to her.

“Just... make sure that Tang Li is okay...” The Goddess said as she gave the future Tang Li a pained look.

“You really cherish Tang Li huh.” Fang Yu muttered as she saw the maternal gaze that the Goddess had right now. “You are treating her like she is your daughter....”

But that good impression of hers disappeared as the Goddess suddenly said, “Make sure that Tang Li will find a good husband for the future! If you do not do that, she will always stick to you! In fact, she will make it hard for you to make your harem! So if you do not want that to happen, make sure that you can find a good Dao Partner for her! It will be better if what you get is a rich young master! That way you can siphon some money for yourself!”

“Ok... I will note that...” Fang Yu said as she gave the Goddess a mock salute. “Well... I guess its time for me to go then?”

“Yes, just scram right now-”

“Boom!”

Suddenly, Fang Yu felt a series of powerful auras sweeping across her. The whole planet seemed to tremble under the presence of these powerful auras. The Goddess, upon sensing these auras, narrowed her eyes as she let out a sigh. “Good grief... so they really have arrived...”

“Wait future me, what is happening right now?” Fang Yu asked as she looked above her with confusion. “Why do I feel like there’s something huge that will happen right now?”

“Fang Yu, both Solomon and I are fine on changing the Timeline, but do you think that we are the only people in this Timeline?” The Goddess humorlessly said as she sternly looked above her.

“There a lot of powerhouses in this Timeline, much more than the ones in your Present Timeline. And all of them were alerted by their own fortune-tellers about a certain person that will inevitably change this Timeline.”

The Goddess then looked at Fang Yu as she slowly said, “Unlike us, these people would not want this Timeline to disappear, as that would technically mean that they will cease to exist. So, they will do everything to stop you from changing the Timeline. Those powerful auras that you are feeling right now? They are all here to prevent you from changing the Timeline!”

“....” “....” “Oh great, more troubles for me...”
