The Cursed King

Chapter 233 - Loriel Is Drunk

Chapter 233 - Loriel Is Drunk

Note:

The majority vote wants me to skip Loriel's and Elise's first consummation and continue with the story. So, I can only oblige.

Worry not, I will find ways to get them to have more intimate moments together in the future ^^.

.

When Loriel woke up the next day in Elise's bed, he remembered the mindblowing sex that the two of them had. After six long months of him stopping himself and trying to act as if he was not attracted to her, the two of them finally consummated their marriage.

He also learned that Elise had powers like her grandmother and father.

However, it was all nothing compared to the realization that Loriel finally accepted Elise as his wife. The last six months was him denying and thinking that the two of them would stay separated was now over.

The king of Summeria finally accepted the princess of Myreen as his true wife.

Loriel couldn't believe it, but he wasn't upset. On the contrary, he was now looking forward to it. Loriel decided to count it as a blessing in disguise.

Even though both Queen Catalina and Loriel's mother did not think about their children during the arrangement, it was a solid wedding.

Sure, Myreen was a pacifist kingdom that refused to participate in wars so Summeria cannot rely on them for that… but magic was available and could even be provided.

The kingdom of Myreen was actually willing to have some of its people that knew magic come over to Archelaus Library, the center of education in Summeria, and expand the knowledge currently held within it.

Loriel knew that it was Elise whom he once again had to thank. The man didn't even mention or say anything about needing more knowledge, but Elise probably decided that it was right for people to learn how to protect themselves.

It was a good endeavour, but it wasn't only the benefits of wedding a princess of Myreen that made Loriel accept the marriage. It was because he got married to someone as amazing as Elise.

Loriel was more negative about it in the past, but now he was grateful that Elise was a wonderful person and not someone who was horrible to deal with. If that had been the case, vows between mother or not, Loriel would have divorced the princess without hesitation.

There was no room in Summeria for a lousy queen.

And yet Loriel found himself leaving the queen's chamber and heading into the banquet hall. The king sat down for breakfast and started drinking a lot of wine as he ate his food and sighed aloud.

"We are now together, not only in name," Loriel murmured.

He was happy, but Loriel still felt as if he now lost something permanently within him. Maybe it was because he thought of himself as a bachelor?

Even when he was married to Elise, Loriel did not see himself as attached to her so he thought of himself as a free person that was unrestricted despite his duties as a king.

But now things have changed and it was time for Loriel to become a lot more serious.

"Those days of adventuring outside of Summeria, and visiting numerous strange lands," Loriel sighed and drank another cup. "It cannot be replaced by travelling out for war or military purposes."

Yes, Loriel felt as if he lost a certain spark within him. Of course, his heart and mind was now revitalized by the idea of starting a new life and family with Elise… but there were always things that he wished he could do.

A person that he wanted to meet again.

***

Everything was going wonderfully to Elise. Loriel made love with her and finally consummated their marriage after six months and he also did not seem to mind that Elise had magic.

Sure, Elise didn't show him the entire powers that she had, but that was because it was not needed yet.

So it was really surprising when Alina came into her room and informed her about the king's condition.

"The king is drinking his heart out in the banquet hall?" Elise blinked."Isn't this too early for that??"

"He's extremely drunk for some reason, Your Majesty," Alina said. "We do not know the cause. But the knights and servants cannot interfere. He made them leave even when they tried to take him to his room."

"Oh…"

Alina tried to give the couple a lot of time to be alone together, but when the maid heard some news in the king's residence, she quickly came to inform Her Majesty.

If gossip and rumors were to be heard of the king of Summeria getting drunk, it would be terrible.

A sudden wave of panic found itself in Elise's heart as she thought about everything that happened last night. Did Loriel regret what they did and started drinking to erase thoughts about their consummation?

Six months wasn't enough to make Loriel forget about her, didn't it?

"Your Majesty?" Alina worriedly asked.

Elise shook her head and got out of the bed. She started racing out of her room and looked back only once to tell her maid about her whereabouts.

"I will be visiting my husband, I will go check on him myself."

Then she was gone.

***

When Elise arrived at the king's banquet hall, the man was only seated alone. But Elise could see that he was really drunk. Now, for the first time, she saw her husband losing control of himself because of too much alcohol.

That could only mean one thing.

Last night when the two of them had sex together, Loriel was sober.

This realization did not comfort her at all as Elise drew closer and said, "Your Majesty?"

Loriel grunted but his head was still on the table, an empty goblet rolled across the dining table to which Elise fixed as she stepped near to him. Elise wasn't worried about herself, but only Loriel's condition.

"Loriel?" Elise called him by his name this time.

He finally raised his head and looked up at his wife. "Oh, it's you…" he said with a drunk smile. "Elise, you're really beautiful...hic. You're like a fairy."

Elise didn't know if she should be relieved that the man didn't seem upset at her, or find it funny that he was not acting like himself. "Why are you drinking so early, Your Majesty?"

"You remind me of her," Loriel said.

Elise's heart stopped cold at his words. Did this man really compare Elise… to her?

"Her?" she muttered her question. Her face turned pale.
