The Cursed King

Chapter 275  Loriel's Regrets

Chapter 275  Loriel's Regrets

Loriel was blissfully unaware of everything that was happening and it was only three days later that he found himself interrupted by Zaff the royal physician out of all people. He was working in his study when the man came in.

"Your Majesty, if I may intrude right now… where is Her Majesty?" Zaff spent days in the library and had just returned with the potions and vitamins he promised to give Elise to keep her pregnancy healthier.

"She probably went to Myreen to visit her father and grandmother, what of it?" Loriel read a paper idly and didn't even look up.

"But her medicine, Your Majesty!" Zaff exclaimed. "The queen should not be traveling right now either because it will strain her body while she is carrying her child."

"Huh?" Loriel thought he misheard the royal physician and looked at the man. "What did you say, Zaff? Can you repeat what you have just said to me?"

The royal physician's eyes widened in alarm and he asked. "Your Majesty, has the queen not delivered the good news to you? She is pregnant once again and she needs to take her vitamins. I know last year I said she was infertile and couldn't bear children after the last pregnancy. But nature has ways to prove humans wrong. And I am very happy that for this once, I was wrong."

Loriel's heart stopped cold. He was overjoyed all of a sudden, but then his feeling quickly changed to panic and unrest.

"She didn't tell me!" he dropped the quill he was holding and quickly rose to his feet.

"Why didn't she tell me?" Loriel asked Zaff urgently with a hoarse voice after the court physician told him that Elise was actually three months pregnant when he checked her health two weeks ago. The king's voice roared in the palace hall. "WHYYY??!!"

The old doctor shrank in his spot. He didn't dare to offend their young king. He was worried if he told him the truth, King Loriel would lash out at him.

But the king just asked him a question... that means he should answer.

If he didn't tell the king what he wanted to know, the king would be angry.

So, finally, the old man cleared his throat and spoke, "I believe Her Majesty just wanted to make sure that her pregnancy is healthy and cross the first trimester before she told you, Your Majesty."

"She should have told me so I can care for her better," said Loriel impatiently. "Instead of telling me about it... she ran away from the palace."

The court physician lowered his head and didn't dare say anything else. Who could know what was in the queen's mind?

He was not a wizard who could read minds. So, he didn't have an answer for the king.

It was something that King Loriel had to find out for himself.

"Lysander! Get my horse now!"

Apparently, Loriel thought the same thing. He could only find out the answers to his questions if he went to find Elise and asked her in person.

The king walked briskly outside the royal hall and went to the courtyard. He waited for his right hand to bring his horse.

Ten minutes later, Lysander came with the impressive stallion that had become the king's mount for the past year. Loriel immediately jumped on his horse and dashed to chase after Elise.

No, he couldn't let her go anywhere. He must get her back to his side.

Initially, Loriel wanted to give her some space before he went to find her. Maybe they needed to have their own moment to be alone and reflect on their marriage after the incident.

He thought Elise must have gone back home to Myreen. It was a safe place and she would be surrounded by her family. So, it should be okay.

However, when he found out Elise was actually pregnant without letting him know, Loriel couldn't let her go.

Not with his child.

Loriel was already three days late, but being late was better than never.

Right?

The soldiers who were guarding the palace gate were shocked to see the king dash his horse and quickly disappear after he passed through them, leaving only dust behind.

They were all wondering where he was going. Some of the guards who were well connected to the servants in the inner court started gossiping about the queen's disappearance. josei

Maybe the king was going to search for her?

But, why now? Didn't she leave three days ago?

Yeah, exactly! Why now?

Loriel asked the same question to himself. Why was he so dumb and insensitive that he let three precious days pass before he did something?

He wanted to cry as he whipped his horse to run faster. The memory of Elise's first pregnancy came to his mind and it haunted him with the nightmare of the miscarriage.

Loriel's clear mind returned after he almost reached the city gate. He realized horses was not the proper mode of transport if he wanted to look for his wife. Myreen was so far away from here.

With tears staining his face, the king brought his horse back to the royal palace. As soon as he got off the horse, the king roared at Horatio. "Summon Renwyck and tell him to bring the dragons, I am heading to Myreen for my wife."

Amidst it all, Loriel was both hurt and feeling guilty. Everything started to make sense to him now.All of the nonsensical things that Elise started doing for the last two months, her fluctuating emotions and even eating far more than usual?

All of it was very obvious.

Loriel knew that it was similar to Elise's pregnancy symptoms during her first one but he never thought of her being pregnant again. He had trusted Zaff's words and mistakenly assumed that Elise grew tired of him.

Or she had become like those annoying wives of the dukes and lords.

That Elise's kindness and affection for him finally ended and she saw him for the horrible man who he truly was. Loriel thought Elise was unhappy with him and that had pained him so much.

Loriel had pride, but he was also afraid that one day, Elise would truly hate him.

However, maybe that wasn't the case and she still loved him? He hoped that it really was all pregnancy hormones and that perhaps the two of them could rekindle their relationship again. Loriel knew that he probably didn't deserve it at all.

He absolutely didn't deserve it.

Maybe Elise hated him now. Loriel realized her hatred for him was justified. It was hard for him to imagine that the most gentle woman he had ever met would grow weary of him.

However, right now, Loriel wanted to make amends.

Loriel knew that once he arrived in Myreen, King Alexander and the queen dowager would probably refuse to let him see Elise but he was prepared for that. Once all of the preparations were finished, he set off to Myreen. He was granted permission to enter the courts of the Myreen once again.

Pillars of lightning surrounded Loriel all around him and trapped him like an animal.

It was lightning.

The air in the throne room suddenly charged with what felt like electricity.

leave now and go search for her."

lowered his head. "Forgive me for the disturbance but if she is not here then I will quickly take my "Elise has left Castilse and I assumed that she would have come here," Loriel quickly answered and "Where is my daughter, Loriel?" King Alexander asked again.

gaze at Loriel. This was the look of the man who was searching for something, or rather, someone.

King Alexander quickly picked up on the hesitation on the younger man's face and he narrowed his "I…" Loriel swallowed hard for a moment and glanced around the throne room.

King Alexander was as straightforward as Elise. He didn't lie or play around with jokes at all.

Loriel's eyes bulged and he thought that his father-in-law was simply lying, however he knew that because a special guest will be visiting me, however I must ask. What is the reason for this visit and why is my daughter not with you?"

"King Loriel Ashborn, we are gratified by your visit and it seems that you have come just in time this question. The king seemed to be busy with a lot of preparations, however, the man seemed a lot However, Loriel found himself getting the shock of his life when King Alexander greeted him with healthier unlike before.
