Chapter 282  Dante Realizes He Has Messed Up

A couple of problems ensued right after Elise drank from the goblet that wiped away her memories. It was something that Dante failed to take into account when he gave it to her because he trusted that Elise would be alright.

Elise was already an immortal when she drank from the goblet so Dante was confident that the effects of the water was not enough to render her immobile or in a state of weakness. However, Dante was wrong.

Elise didn't wake up after an hour, hours, and not even after a day or two.

Dante, who had been excited about living and spending his entire lifetime with Elise didn't consider how valuable memories were. Even one drop of the water of forgetfulness was completely potent.

Elise who became an immortal had her memories completely wiped out and it threw her into a coma.

Dante immediately panicked after three days with no signs of recovery from Elise. She was immortal and he did not worry about the state of her physical body, but there was nothing that Dante could do that would make her wake up.

"What did I do wrong?" He asked himself worriedly. He panicked.

The Time Master knew that it was either a miscalculation in his judgement or perhaps there was something else that could wake up Elise. He knew that he needed to do something to help her and, after a split decision, Dante took Elise away from the mount of Cretea.

He took her back into one of his secluded mountains, the real place where the Time Master kept watch of everything from a distance at a place where no humans could ever walk. Gently, Dante placed Elise in a soft and comfortable bed.

Elise lay on the bed looking as if she was only in a beautiful sleep and that there was nothing wrong with her. Dante's heart pounded and he couldn't help but feel an intense amount of guilt after everything.

He was going to fix this.

However, Dante still needed to attend and host the tournament for godhood.

The Time Master visited Summeria and quickly came in contact with his brother, Dimitri. He wanted to aske him for a favor. "You need to stay in Cretea and masquerade as me during the entire tournament."

"Huh? Are you sure? Won't people know the difference when I don't have your powers?" Dimitri rubbed his chin and looked at him doubtfully. "I know that the two of us look exactly the same, but our powers are too different."

"You'll only need to watch the competition and don't necessarily have to do anything," Dante urged him on. "There is something that I need to take care of so I can't attend the tournament."

"What happened, brother?" Dimitri's brows furrowed and he looked knowingly at Dante. "You wouldn't miss the tournament for nothing important. It is a renowned thing to become the judge on this occasion that only takes place every thousand years."

Dante looked at his brother and knew that he couldn't lie.

At least, not to his brother.

"I… something happened to Elise and I need to fix things," the Time Master said. "Over a week ago, Elise came to me sobbing and asking for help. I think she came to you earlier, didn't she?"

"Yes." Dimitri nodded. "She wanted her child to survive and she really did look so close to tears. Did something awful happen in Summeria? I don't keep up with politics and only books."

"You know how awful her husband is," Dante gritted his teeth. "She came crying to me because of him. He's a bastard."

Dimitri sighed deeply. "Brother, I understand that the man probably did something wrong because Elise wouldn't have cried for nothing… but I sense extreme hostility in your tone. Did you do anything?"

"Nothing that is wrong to me," the Time Master replied coldly. "But my actions towards her husband are not what I'm here for. Elise asked me if there was some way that I could help her forget about her husband."

"That's not an easy thing to ask for," Dimitri frowned. "Isolating a single individual from memory is too difficult because humans are not solitary creatures. There would be too many holes and gaps if you try to only remove one person so… wait."

Dimitri was not known as the god of knowledge for nothing. He was able to quickly piece in the facts with only little details and quickly made an accurate conclusion. His eyes widened greatly and he looked at his brother.

"You erased her entire memory," he said.

The Time Master guilty nodded his head. "I… I did just that. I thought it would be fine if Elise lived a new life. It wouldn't be too long before her father and grandmother also die and she would be in grief once that happens."

"Brother you have no right to make decisions for someone else," Dimitri grabbed his brother's collar and gritted his teeth. "You've done a lot of damage and now you are trying to fix it."

"That's right," Dante smiled sadly. "Please go to Cretea and masquerade as me. I am not sure how long it would take for Elise to wake up and recover, so I need a lot of time for this."

The God of Knowledge looked at his brother and then nodded slowly. "Fine. I will do this, but only because you have chosen to repair the damage that you've made. Make sure that you fix things."

"I will." Dante pulled his brother into a hug and smiled in relief. "Thank you, Dimitri."

"This task that you will be undertaking is not easy," Dimtri shook his head and looked his brother in the eye. "This is also the same water that people drink before they are reincarnated to their next life. The process to help her recover important memories will be slow."

"I am prepared to do just that," Dante smiled. "Even if it'd take an eternity, I will make sure that she recovers."
