Chapter 887: Julian Trying To Escape The Palace
Julian thought he was so lucky that the rash didn't show immediately, so the king and queen didn't see it. They said Liam loved oysters. That meant he must not have the allergy that Julian had. If they saw him with his rash right after eating oysters, it's impossible they didn't suspect him.
The king and queen must have already thought something was off with their 'son' but they just brush it off because what were the odds that their only son would have a doppelganger? It was unheard of.
Right.
Julian must immediately find a way to get out of the palace before his disguise was blown. The young man decided to approach the window to check his surroundings. What he saw made him grit his teeth.
There were several soldiers who walked back and forth through the royal palace's grounds, the entire place was very secure from would-be thieves, or in Julian's case, someone who wanted to get out.
"I'm not sure if they don't want me to go out, or they're protecting something special here," Julian muttered underneath his breath.
He needed to take into account the shift and movements of the soldiers and figure out what was the best route for him to leave. How much allowance did he have before the next soldier finished his rounds?
If all things went well with his escape, should Julian leave a note that might encourage his 'family' to go look for him?
Unfortunately for Julian, the security was incredibly tight and there wasn't much of an opportunity for him to squeeze through his plan.
He would have to throw the makeshift rope blanket, the land across the tree, get rid of the evidence, and then make a good run for the palace's walls and gates without them being shut down in his face.
"Kind parents or not, they treat this place as if convicts are about to escape here," Julian grumbled.
While Julian didn't get much of an opportunity to escape as he instead paid attention to the routes, motion, and schedule of the soldiers–he was able to gather a decent amount of information from eavesdropping.
If Rowena was in his shoes, she might have chosen to look around and investigate the castle, perhaps head to the royal library and gather the information that was useful.
Julian on the other hand knew that boredom was greatly alleviated by stories and gossip, especially for those who didn't have much of a chance to do anything else.
"It seems that Queen Serena's son is quite a pain to have attempted escape for the second time this week. Do you really think that someone like him will be fit to be a ruler?" a soldier asked his friend.
The second soldier slowed down, looked around their surroundings before he finally spoke.
"Well, what can you expect? Queen Serena was never actually meant to be the queen, so I doubt that she'd be able to raise a son fit to be the ruler–either way, I'm only here to collect my salary. What the rich do is none of my business."
"But imagine if Queen Gabrielle was still alive? She was a great queen, and I bet her son would have been a far better heir than His Highness Prince Liam. He's spoiled rotten by his family–"
Julian immediately ducked down from his window before the soldiers looked up. His eyes widened as his heart pounded all of a sudden.
He had been nearly caught. &nbs

Which wouldn't have been bad, but surely, if someone heard themselves being talked down to, then they would react in a far angrier manner than what Julian did.
Instead, he was now seated on the floor–more than a thousand thoughts in his head as he tried to understand what it all meant and why he felt so affected by such a thing.
"So what if the king had two wives? Some had more," Julian whispered underneath his breath. "It's not really my business either… so, why should I care?"
And yet as Julian closed his eyes and thought of the king's face, thought about how everyone mistook him for Prince Liam and such… it almost felt like something was up. There was far more to the situation than anyone might have expected.
"If I both resemble the king and the prince, does it mean I'm related to them?" Julian asked. "Or is this really all some mere coincidence?"
He sighed and rubbed his face.
"I wish Rowena was here… she'd probably know what to say or do. I miss her–"
His bedroom door suddenly swung open.

Queen Serena looked as her son left the dining hall and she felt incredibly saddened by the incident. She glanced over to her husband and asked one thing. "Do you think I'm a terrible mother?"
"Of course not!" King Xander immediately countered his wife. "We're doing all we can for Liam. He's just at that rebellious phase in his life, simply let him be and he'll know what he wants to do."
"Indeed…" Queen Serena smiled sadly and became a little more lost in thoughts. She threw a judging look over to her husband and said. "But it seems like I'm more of a terrible sister, am I not?"
"Serena…" the king looked at her and didn't know what to say. "Please don't say such a thing. It's already been twenty years, there is no need for you to remain guilty."
Queen Serena quickly stood up and quietly said. "I'll be catching some fresh breath of air, I'll see you in our chambers."
Before the king could do anything, his queen left the dining hall and left him all by his lonesome. The King of Verona felt a wave of sadness overcome him as he closed his eyes and muttered under his breath.
"If you were here… darling, what would you have done?" The King of Verona asked solemnly. "Since our son is there with you, I hope that he is doing well… but sometimes I wished that Liam had his older brother. This old man isn't doing so well when talking to him."
King Xander then looked over towards the door where Queen Serena left.

And the plot thickens... ahaha. Who is this sister that Queen Serena mentioned? I think you can already guess.
By the way, in April I will publish 2 chapters per day again because I wish to get features from Win-Win (the requirement is to get between 10k - 20k privilege chapters unlocked in one month). So, please support this book by purchasing the privileged chapters. Even the first tier will help so much.
I will add a new highest tier like before, that is 40 advanced chapters for 2k coins. That means, tomorrow I will publish 10 chapters to fill the tier.
>However, don't worry, I will also add 5 more chapters on top of those, so even if you didn't purchase the highest tier, you will still get a mass release of 5 chapters. You'll also get 2 chapters per day every day until this book finally ends (hopefully by June).
Thank you so, so much for supporting me and this book all this time. I am sorry, I couldn't reply to your comments as often as usual or say thank you for your gifts like I used to.
I am swamped and tired all the time because I am going back to doing more interpreting work since Covid is almost over and conferences have been starting again. I actually will be working all day for the next two days at a conference. Wish me luck!
