Chapter 154: Horde Part 10
"For we, are the Red Legion!"
The stream showed Hao Xuan standing in front of the monstrous beast wave, accompanied by Black and White to his left and right.
He used Assualt of the Mad God and rushed into the horde like a madman.
His face held a wide grin while his feet moved around like a dancer's. He moved from one beast to another with such grace that it left the spectators in awe. They didn't know whether to be hyped by his domineering attitude or admire the exquisite footwork.
He moved between the beasts like water, with each attack landing a fatal hit. Those weeks of hard work had really paid off. All those fights with Kuo and Co. had pushed him to use everything in his arsenal and to such a degree that there were barely any useless movements now.
"W-Was master always so strong?" Yun Wentian couldn't help but murmur absentmindedly.
Xu Qing was listening to the stream with bated breath. But her countenance seemed more somber than the others, as if she knew something the others didn't.
Red and Green who were next to them still had worried expressions on their faces. How long could he last going like that?
But at the moment, Hao Xuan had no such concerns as he ripped his way through the horde. There was nothing that could stop his invincible momentum.
"Kill like there is no tomorrow! I want to bathe in blood tonight!" he roared with laughter.
Black and White that were already laying waste to everything in their path starting going even crazier. Black swiped his tail around and sent dozens of creatures flying, while the less fortunate ones were turned to mush on impact.
White bit down on a gigantic creature with spider-like legs and used it as a hammer to smash others. It was complete and utter mayhem.
"Break those damned chains! Why are you not going all out?!" the Griffin shouted at the Ether beasts in the beast tongue.
"We are only here to give face to the Wu clan's young master. The fact that we are doing anything should be more than enough. And little creatures like you, do not have the authority to order us around!" an intimidating voice replied as one of the figures turned around and glared at the Griffin, shutting him up instantly.
The Griffin looked like he had a lot to say but didn't have the guts to speak after that. So he silently hovered above barrier as the seven shadows hit over and over again. Several more minutes passed and another chain broke, leaving only two now.
*Huff*Huff*
"Come back, quick!" Hao Xuan muttered under his breath while moving back to the platform. Black and White were surrounding him and acting as his protectors.
"Yes, master!" a voice sounded in Hao Xuan's head. He had run out of Qi and was using potions and spirit stones to recover as soon as possible. He looked around and there was almost nothing left standing.
Galena was no more. All that was left were the broken foundations of a few buildings. Everything else was destroyed by the rampaging beasts. From the Griffin's point of view, it just looked like a blue ball of light in the middle of some rubble, with two golden chains coming out of it.
"Enjoy while you can, when this thing breaks, I will skin you alive and use your entrails to make myself a nice scarf!" it said to Hao Xuan.
"Ho, really? I'd like to see that," he smiled back.
*BOOOOM*
Another chain broke. There was only one left now.
Both Black and White were doing their best and had amassed many injuries. There was blood all around them, some theirs, most their enemies. Without stopping for a single second, they fought ceaselessly. The stronger the beasts resisted, the more ruthless they became.
Hao Xuan looked at them and couldn't help but grit his teeth in agitation. Both of them were almost like a part of his own being, and seeing them fight without any regard for their safety, alone, made him want to rip his own hair out.
*Slash*
A serrated tail came out from under a mass of corpses and pierced straight through Black's abdomen.
"Ssssss!" he turned around and smashed his upper body from where it came from. There was a crunching sound and then a gigantic grey scorpion with half its body caved in crawled out.
Black twisted his head and bit down, swallowing it whole.
"That's enough. Come back you two," Hao Xuan waved his hand. Black leaned over the platform with his massive body and licked Hao Xuan.
"I know, just come back," Hao Xuan whispered and smiled lightly, He scratched the underside of Black's face, making him close his eyes in pleasure. Most people would be scared sh*tless, but in Hao Xuan's eyes, they were still the cute little worms he picked up from that nest not too long ago.
"Come, rest. I'll take care of the rest," he said gently. Black nodded and his body shrunk down to just a few inches and his appearance changed as well. He slithered up Hao Xuan's hand and he summoned him back.
"You too," he looked at White this time.
White straight up shook his head and continued fighting. He used his tail to surround the platform and used his body to keep the beasts away.
Hao Xuan's expression turned serious as he looked at White, enraged, "NOW!" he shouted in a deep voice. The gigantic serpent that was fighting hundreds of beasts alone, shook. It was fighting against an army without any hesitation, but a single word from Hao Xuan shook his very heart.
"No! White, fight!" an immature voice, like that of a child sounded in Hao Xuan's mind. This was the first time he had heard either of them talk. A surprised expression appeared on Hao Xuan's face.
"You stubborn little worm, came back right now!" the little bit of anger that he was feeling a few seconds ago, melted away like it was never there. He couldn't help but soften his expression. They were still children, little kids. It was only natural he wanted to fight for Hao Xuan's sake.
White shook his head again. He didn't even turn around.
*Sigh*
"Don't worry, I'm not alone. He is almost here," he reached out and patted White's tail. White stopped and turned around to meet Hao Xuan's gaze.
"Come," Hao Xuan said lightly while extending his hand. White hesitated at first but then spat out some black fire all around the platform and shrunk, returning to his original appearance and size. Hao Xuan picked him up and smiled. White licked his face carefully, making sure he wasn't mad.
"You must listen to me. I'm not so stupid as to put myself in danger," he stroked White's head, making him twist around his fingers before summoning him back as well.
"Now what?" the Griffin looked at him derisively.
Hao Xuan shook his hand and the glaive appeared. He looked at the Griffin with half a smile, "Now we fight again of course."
The Griffin almost burst out laughing. One human fight against hundreds of thousands of beast? In what world?
"You and what army?" he asked looking at the lone human.
"No army. Just us," Hao Xuan gestured towards himself. The Griffin had a look of confusion on its face but before it could inquire any further, a high-pitched noise came from a distance.
Hao Xuan turned towards it and smiled. He tapped the spirit band and the stream stopped, making half the empire scream out in indignation.
Hao Xuan walked out of the platform's bubble as the high pitched noise got louder and louder.
"You have permission to use full power. Kill as much as you want," he whispered.
"Yes, master," the voice said once again. The Griffin's eye's contracted as it finally saw the source of the noise. It was a black shadow moving towards them at almost supersonic speed.
"Show me the power of a Sword God!" Hao Xuan shouted.
*BOOOM*
A shockwave spread out towards Galena as the shadow broke through the sound barrier, "Great Imperial Hegemony!" it shouted and seven black blades materialized out of nowhere.
