Chapter 301: Chains

Chapter 301: Chains

Chapter 301: Chains

Hao Xuan stretched and flexed his muscles, feeling the wind on his skin and the coldness of the air through the armor.

The armor was now permanently bonded with his body. As long as there was any part of him that was still intact, then even if the armor was completely destroyed it would still be able to recover and grow along with him.

That was the reason for the popularity of the Living weapons and armors. They might not seem strong at first glance but they would elevate themselves along with the user and evolve with them.

And there was no way to lose them unless someone intentionally cut off the bond or was simply killed and the armor extracted from their body.

Hao Xuan looked down at his arms and feet covered in the black and gold armor pieces, a feeling of invincibility coming from somewhere deep inside him. He finally felt like all that hard work he had put in over the last few weeks was finally showing its result.

Everyone was watching on with bated breaths. This was a turning point in this fight that had been all but decided the moment these people stepped into the cavern.

Right now Green, Red, Monk, and Ensis were standing in the four corners of the cavern. The Scorpion King had completely ignored them since they didn't have any killing intent towards him.

After Hao Xuan was done admiring the armor, he held out his right hand and the Glaive appeared in his palm. He didn't call it from the storage space of the watch but from the Meridian in his chest.

*Shiiiiiiiin~*

As soon as the Glaive materialized it let out a high pitched noise and started vibrating. Almost instantly in response the armor let out the same high pitched noise and shook several times.

Hao Xuan smiled, "Shh, relax. There's no reason to be so aggressive," he whispered to the glaive to calm it down.

Both of these 'entities' were actually conscious. When the Glaive was summoned, it detected Hao Xuan's connection to the armor and tried to destroy it. In response, the armor retaliated.

Living pieces of equipment were extremely territorial and normally you would never see more than one of the same types of equipment on a cultivator's body.

For example, since Hao Xuan had the Glaive, he would not be able to bond with any other type of Living Weapon. The glaive would simply not allow it. Sharing was not a concept they understood.

Hao Xuan looked ahead and nodded. All his severs that were already in the cavern lifted their sleeves and showed thick chains that were bound around their arms.

If looked closely they were slowly moving around on their own, making occasional rattling noises.

This was the first time the Scorpion King had a change of expression ever since the fight had first begun. He squinted his massive eyes and stared at the pitch-black chains in their hands.

He floated up and off the ground and covered himself with a barrier of Qi. Those chains gave him a bad feeling.

Ensis was the first to begin. He cut open his hand and dropped a few droplets of blood on the chain. All of a sudden as if someone had jolted it back to life, the chain started moving around like a serpent.

Ensis gritted his teeth and held onto on side with both hands while the other slowly thrashed about, moving towards the other corner of the cavern where Green was standing.

Green did the exact same thing and held onto his chain with the left hand while extending the right outwards. The chain from Ensis looked like it was being pulled towards him by an unknown force as it quickly shot towards him.

As soon as Green held it, a burst of suppressive force fell down one side of the cavern.

The Scorpion King's pupils contracted as he realized why he was getting such an uneasy feeling from those chains.

He opened his hands and his claws suddenly doubled in size. Just as he was about to unleash an attack, he felt the air move in front of him and instinctively raised his massive forelimbs in front of his face.

*BOOM*

A deafening explosion rang out in the cavern, sending dead bodies and the still injured cultivators hurling towards the outer boundary.

The Scorpion King was pushed back almost a hundred meters with nothing more than brute force. A burning sensation spread out from where he had come into contact with the attack.

As he lowered his arms, Hao Xuan appeared in his vision, floating on the other side with a satisfied grin. In his left hand was the glaive while his right hand had smoke coming off it. That attack just not done with a weapon but a simple punch.

Although it didn't do any damage to this King of beasts, it was enough to completely wake him up and put up his guard.

That punch had bought the severs enough time to finish setting up the formation. The last chain basically ran towards Ensis and as he grabbed it, a perfect square was created around the cavern.

The Scorpion King and Hao Xuan were smack dab in the middle of it.

*Shwaaap*

The sound of a muffled clap echoed in the chamber as the suppressive force increased by more than 20 times and its only target was the floating Scorpion King.

His eyes widened as he almost fell down to the ground. He looked down at his body and then back up at Hao Xuan with a vicious expression.

"Was this your plan, human?"

Hao Xuan nodded, "Indeed. And I had to go through a lot of trouble to bring those babies out, and this armor. All of it for you," he said gesturing towards the chains.

Those chains were also the treasures the Mei cultivators had gotten from some of the other dungeons.

Almost a month ago when saw the list of the rewards that were uncovered from the dungeons, he saw a pattern. A pattern which was later confirmed by Baracus and another person he had severed.

Hao Xuan lifted the glaive above his head and stared at the Beast King, "Ready or not, HERE.I.COME!"

*BOOOOOOOM*
