Chapter 500: Guardian Beast

Chapter 500: Guardian Beast

The Scorpion King finished his second 'snack' and looked over towards the last remaining trembling hunter as some saliva dripped down onto the ground and started corroding it.

Just his saliva was more acidic than most acids known to man.

His tail swayed left and right but his gaze didn't leave the hunter, not even once. Just a single move, the smallest excuse, that's all he needed to eat for the third time in so long.

But the hunter realized this as well and lowered his head, not bothering to even look up. He kept mumbling something under his breath, which sounded like a prayer of some sort.

Hao Xuan, on the other hand, had no time to think about any of this. The Chaos energy had broken out of its meridian and completely overtaken his body. It only stopped after reached all the other meridians, staying just outside their boundary.

Whenever he tried to call out any of the other energies, they were attacked by the Chaos like wild dogs and somehow converted into even more Chaos energy.

And every time this happened, it would send tsunamis of pain throughout Hao Xuan's nervous system. All the energies were his and it was an extremely painful process whenever they clashed within one another because, at the end of the day, it was still happening inside his own body.

Hao Xuan took in a deep breath and wiped the sweat that had gathered on his forehead despite it being around -5 centigrade.

"Baracus, what the hell is happening?!" he called out to the only source of information at his disposal.

With the help of the nanotech, Baracus was sure to have a much better idea about what was happening inside him. But, his response left Hao Xuan speechless.

"I don't know. You were reading the book and the next thing I know the nanotech is being attacked by the Chaos energy. I can make a few informed guesses but that's it."

"THEN GUESS MOTHERFUCKER!" Hao Xuan accidentally yelled out loud, startling the hunter who was already on the verge of a mental breakdown.

"Taking that tone is completely unnecessary. Do you want me to cut of the pain? Would that make you feel better?"

"YES! For fuck sakes, yes! I feel like I'm being boiled alive from inside out."

"Alright."

Just as Baracus had finished speaking, Hao Xuan's body went numb. He couldn't feel anything.

"I had to block the connection to all your nerves for the time being."

Even though his body was still reacting to the pain, he couldn't feel any of it anymore. He let out a breath of relief and sat down on the ground.

"Now....tell me what you THINK is happening," he asked while breathing heavily.

Baracus started explaining everything to him one by one, every scenario he thought was possible which took a look of time.

There was only 1 moon in the sky tonight and it slowly moved higher and higher up until it was exactly above the village.

When the moonlight fell on the deserted village, about 200 meters away from Hao Xuan at the very back, a rock that was around 2.5 meters wide suddenly moved.

The movement was minute at first, just enough to shake loose some dust here and there but then it started increasing in strength.

The moonlight was like some kind of a spell that was unleashing whatever was inside the rock. Dust continued to fall off along with some debris until a rough oval exterior was the only thing that was left.

And then from below the rock, a thin hairy black stick reached out. It was followed by another and another and then another until there were sixteen of them in total.

The sticks which had reached a length of 5 meters each now pushed against the ground, lifting the 2.5-meter oval rock and exposing a smaller black object underneath.

This black object had four twitchy bone-like fangs protruding out of it next to a small opening.

When the rock was at a height of 3 meters above ground, finally the exact shape of this creature came into view. It was a spider and a relatively big one at that.

The thing to note was that it had no eyes at all. It wasn't they were gouged out, but they weren't just there. And its legs were extremely thin. They were divided into numerous small segments that got thinner and thinner as they went down towards the ground, finally reaching a width of less than a centimeter. It looked it was tiptoing from afar.

But neither Hao Xuan nor the Scorpion King who was completely focused on the hunter had noticed it yet. Only the one-eyed hunter kept throwing glances towards the spider's direction every now and then, without making any large movements.

The spider's body swayed left and right under the moonlight like it was doing a dance. Its four fangs reached outwards like it was stretching after a long nap.
