Chapter 194: Can you not go?

Chapter - 194

"How did it happen?" Alex suddenly asked after the nurse left.

"..." Instead of answering Alex, Karen played with her fingers as she tried not to look at Alex.

"Was it really an accident?" Alex asked again, "Are you sure nobody had any part in it? Your husband?"

"Can we not talk about him," Karen straightened her back and looked at Alex at the mention of her husband.

"..." Alex did not reply. He continued to stare at Karen in silence which was stifling for Karen.

"I mean... You know how things are between us. It is awkward to keep talking about him with you," Karen cleared her throat and tried to explain.

"Sure..." After looking at Karen for some time, Alex agreed, "I have called Jessica. She should be here soon."

"Why did you call her? She must already be busy managing the party. I am alright. Look..." Karen flung her arms around and tried to show that she was okay.

"Don't be a kid... I have to leave, so there should be someone to look after you," Alex stood up as he said that. But Karen held his arm.

"Can you not go?" Karen softly asked as she looked up from the bed, "Can't you stay with me? Until I fall asleep?" Karen pleaded.

"I can't," Alex pushed her hand away and walked out of the room.

"Was that Alex? Wah... He couldn't even wait for me to arrive before leaving," As soon as Alex stepped out, Jessica walked into the room. It was cold outside so she had a white fur coat on her."

"And what was with his face? It looked like he was going to murder someone," Jessica asked as she pulled down her coat, "Sometimes it's hard for me to understand him."

"True... He has definitely changed," Karen replied while her eyes were still stuck on the door.

"Men are like that only. You don't know when they will change their colours." Jessica agreed with Karen. But she had a different reason to do so.

"Here, I bought this on my way here."

"What is my baby doll doing?" Trying to sound extra sweet, a man spoke on the phone while he walked down the street leisurely with a bag in his hand.

"I know... I know... Even I am missing my baby doll," The man tried to coax the girl on the other side of the phone, "But you know what? I will be with you in your bed before you can pronounce 'Flibbertigibbet.' C'mon, try it..." The man grinned. But the grin on his face died the next second.

"Huh... Aa... No... No... It's right. You said it right," the man awkwardly ran his fingers through his hair.

Who would have thought the girl would be this smart?

"Me... Nothing... I just stepped outside for a while. I went to the store to buy some beer," The man replied, "I am on my way back to my house. And after changing, I will head to your place."

"My wife? Don't worry about her. She won't know a thing. And even if she knew, what can she possibly do?" The man's arrogance had no bounds.

"Of course, she is afraid of me. And not just her. Her mother is also afraid of me. Unlike you... You, seducing fox whom I am letting to dance on my head, my wife knows her place. It's beneath my shoes."

"These two things are different. I am not afraid of you visiting my apartment. It's just that I don't want unnecessary trouble. If someone saw you with me, things might blow out of proportion. And it would be a nuisance for me at the time of divorce. I want to suck that bitch dry before I let her go.

From money to the apartment, I want to have everything." With a smile on his face, the man showed his colours.

"Baby... No... Of course, I love you," the man tried to smooth talk his girlfriend, "Alright... You know what. Today you come to my house."

"No... I am not joking," The man said with determination.

"My wife? Why do you keep bringing her up? I told you not to worry about her."

"Why? Because she is in the hospital right now," the man finally broke the news. The man was none other than Karen's hobo husband. But who would have known that the hobo had such a scheme in his head?

"I don't know. I think the bitch broke her leg or something," the man shrugged, "Well... It's nothing that concerns us."

"How? Why are you so curious about her all of sudden?" The man frowned. But the next moment, he was back to sweet talking again.

"Alright... Alright... I am telling you. Why do you get angry so easily?" Karen's husband agreed.

"That bitch was going somewhere all dressed up. But even the god must hate that whore... She fell down the stairs... Hahaha..."

"... It was fun to... Unn...Unn..." But as the man laughed off her wife's misery, someone got behind him and pulled a cloth over his head. The man struggled to get away, and the phone fell out of his hand in the process. But he could do nothing to break free.

"Hello... Baby... Baby? Are you listening to me?" The girl on the phone called out.

"I know you are there. Are you going to ignore me now... Eehh..."

"It's a girl, isn't it?"

"It must be some other girl. You are ogling a girl, aren't you?"

"Good... Good... You better not show up in front of me... Hello... Hello..."

"Fuck you, bastard... Go to hell, you asshole."

"Go... DIE..."
