Chapter 200: Martha is swinging the other way?
Chapter - 200
"Audrey? I didn't think you ever mentioned about her," Alex asked.
"Oh, she is a friend I made recently. You know, when you were away for three months," Martha told him, "We met at the hospital, and I was instantly drawn towards her. After all, she is just the sweetest girl I have ever met."
"Oh... It was when I was away," Alex turned his attention towards Audrey and looked at her with squinted eyes.
"You... Don't look at her like that," Martha left Alex's side and walked beside Audrey, placing her hand over her shoulder, "You better not be rude to my friend over here."
"If she is not a fraud," Alex mumbled.
"What? What did you say?" Martha frowned.
"It's okay..." Audrey put her hand over Martha's hand, which was on her shoulder, and lightly squeezed it, "I am sure he is just caring for you in his own way."
"And don't worry, I am sure I will win him over in no time," Audrey looked at Alex and said, looking meaningfully at Alex, "Just like I charmed you."
"Oh! You certainly charmed me," Martha was all smiles as she looked tenderly at Audrey.
Martha stood beside Audrey, their bodies gently touching. Martha's hand rested tenderly on Audrey's shoulder, offering support and comfort. They exchanged a glance, and in that single moment, their eyes spoke volumes, overflowing with emotions that anyone could notice. And it looked far more intense to be just friends.
The setting seemed to fade away as they focused solely on each other. For them, no one in the room mattered, time slowed down, and the noise around them became a distant murmur, irrelevant to the depth of connection they shared. It was as if the world had conspired to create this intimate bubble, allowing them to bask in the warmth of their affection.
Martha's gaze traced the contours of Audrey's face, marvelling at every line and curve. A soft smile played on her lips, mirroring the adoration reflected in her eyes. Audrey, in turn, returned the affectionate look, her own smile radiant and infectious.
In that unguarded moment, neither of them spoke a word. Yet thousands of words were exchanged between them. They lived memories and dreamt of a future filled with endless possibilities. All with their eyes locked on one another.
"Ahemm..." Finally, George decided to break the moment, bringing both, Martha and Audrey out of their trance, "We have a guest at home. Shouldn't you offer her something?"
"And you should get changed first," George told Alex.

"Alex! Alex! Alex!" The door opened, and Damien came running inside Alex's room, flustered.
"Will you at least knock first?" Alex was just about to take off his shirt when Damien came in.
"As if I would be interested in you now," Damien looked at his brother in disdain, "Didn't you see that chick downstairs? The moment I opened the door for her, I got a har..."
"No... Stop right there. I don't want to hear what you got," Alex's nose wrinkled, and his nostrils flared in disgust when he heard Damien. What's with him? Always thinking with his tool.
"Heart Attack... I got a heart attack. Don't give me that look. At least listen to me first."
"Haah... Heart Attack... Hard... Heart... They just sound the same," Alex could only sheepishly smile, hearing his brother.
"Whatever... Good thing I am too good in a mood to actually care what you think right now,"
"Then why are you here?" Alex inquired, trying not to get sidetracked by the small talk.
"Do you want me to spell it out for you?" Damien was surprised to hear his brother. He took a deep breath, momentarily composing himself as he constructed his words, "Alright, listen up."
"That girl downstairs. She..."
"Hey... Hey... Hold on a minute," Alex stopped his brother, "Didn't you say you have a girlfriend? Is it alright for you to ogle on other girls? I mean... I am just saying, but it might not end well between you and your girl.
Not that I am stopping you, but..." But suddenly, Alex stopped when he saw his brother looking at him with a poker face and deadpan eyes.
"What? Are you done?" Damien asked, "No... No... If you have more, please continue. I will wait."
"C'mon, dude... I was only joking with you," Alex laughed it off awkwardly and patted his brother's shoulder.
"Can we get a bit serious? Can we please?" Damien asked, raising her eyebrow.
"Yes, sir,"
"You saw that girl downstairs? Her name is Audrey," Damien finally got Alex to shut up and got back to business. Alex wanted to say that he knew all that, but when he saw his brother glaring at him, he stopped.
"Don't you think there is something weird going on between her and Mom?" Damien said, "I mean did you see how they were looking at each other? It was not normal. What do you think?"
"Ah, come on. It's no big deal," Alex shrugged nonchalantly. "They're probably just good friends. Mom doesn't really have anyone to talk to these days. Dad's always away, you were gone for ages, and with my job, I haven't been the most attentive either. So, maybe Audrey's just filling that void for her."
"Seriously, dude, you're missing the point here," Damien exclaimed, a mischievous grin playing on his face. "Mom is head over heels for her. I've never seen her so infatuated before. It's like she's glowing whenever Audrey's around."
"Cut to the chase, will you?" Alex rolled his eyes, growing impatient.
"Alright, alright," Damien leaned in closer and lowered his voice. "I think Mom's got a thing for Audrey, if you catch my drift."
"A thing? Seriously?" Alex's eyes widened with realization.
"Yeah, I think she's swinging the other way now," Damien said, winking at his brother.
"You mean..." Alex's voice trailed off, his mind racing with newfound understanding.
Before they could delve further into their conversation, a knock interrupted them. Audrey peeked into the room, a sly smile on her face. "Sorry to interrupt, but they're calling you downstairs."
"Yeah, we'll be right there," Damien cleared his throat as he looked at Audrey with a smile.
"I'll be waiting," Audrey replied, her tone laced with a hint of mischief. And Audrey left, closing the door behind her.
"Did I hear that right?" Damien looked at Alex, questioning his ears.
