Chapter 174 Riding the same ship
Chapter 174 Riding the same ship
"Wait." Ren Shiyuan quickly placed his hand on the door to stop it from closing.
She could feel her heart skip a bit because of what he suddenly did. She tried to gain her composure back, she was trying her best not to look nervous. Why was she feeling nervous? It’s not like he was going to eat her up!
"It’s snowing, and the road is blocked... can I stay here until the road gets clear up?" Ren Shiyuan asked before he blew on his gloved hand to warm it up.
Nian Jiezhen’s lips stretched into a thin line as she noticed that the surroundings everywhere were covered by snow and because of it, she didn’t have a choice but to allow him to enter her house. She moved to the side and said, "Come in."
Ren Shiyuan’s face shone like a radiant sun when he heard her words. He closed his umbrella and shook it before he entered her place.
Nian Jiezhen sighed heavily as she closed the door. "I’m going to prepare you a hot choco."
"I would love that, thank you, princess." He smiled brightly at her. He placed his umbrella in the umbrella stand before he took his coat off and placed it on the coat rack. He went to the living room and sat on the sofa.
Nian Jiezhen returned with a cup of hot chocolate. She went to him and handed it. "Here."
"Thank you."
Nian Jiezhen watched as Ren Shiyuan took a sip from the drink. Just by staring at him like this made her heart race. Was she really falling for a woman? How could that be possible? She doesn’t even know him well.
Looking at Ren Shiyuan’s actions, she decided to calm herself down and profile him. His graceful and elegant movements were so beautiful to look at, he looked like he grew up from a wealthy family.
Ren? That family name was not common in China but the only Ren family she knew was the one that belongs to the mafia. The Interpol has given a Red Notice for Ren Yuansheng, who was suspected to be the head of Varia.
There are eight kinds of notice, one of them is the Red Notice. Red Notices are issued for individuals sought for prosecution or to serve a sentence. When the individual is sought for prosecution it means they are suspected of committing a crime but have not yet been prosecuted and so should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
Now that she thinks of it, Ren Shiyuan looked a bit like Ren Yuansheng. Her guards went up because of this. Could he be related to Ren Yuansheng? "Xiao Xi... your full name is Ren Yunxi, right?"
Ren Shiyuan placed the cup on the coffee table and looked at her. "Hm?"
"Do you know Ren Yuansheng?" Nian Jiezhen directly asked while she was observing his actions closely.
Ren Shiyuan was surprised when he heard that name. It’s been so long since he heard the name. Just by seeing Ren Shiyuan’s surprised reaction, Nian Jiezhen can already guess that they are related.
"My father isn’t that famous, I’m surprised that you know him." He chuckled a bit.
Father? So, she was really correct. "I have my ways."
Ren Shiyuan chuckled. "My, you sure are one mysterious princess."
"Aren’t you the same?" She smiled a bit as her shoulders relaxed.
Ren Shiyuan may be related to Ren Yuansheng but that doesn’t mean that he’s dangerous, right?
He leaned against the sofa and raised his head to look at the sofa. "My father wanted me to take over the mafia a few years ago, but... you see, I have another plan in life, that’s why I ran away from my family." He turned to her and smiled. "I never once thought of following my father’s steps... all I wanted was to be a Star even if my family was against it."
She never expected him to share something personal to her since all she wanted to know was his relationship with Ren Yuansheng. Was it alright for him to share something this personal to her?
Nian Jiezhen’s eyes softened when she heard what he said. She went and sat beside him. "You know... we’re definitely riding the same ship."
Ren Shiyuan laughed lightly because of what she said. "Don’t tell me that you’re the same too?"
"Well, yeah. Somehow, it’s the same. When I told my parents that I want to be a detective, they were totally against it."
He looked at her in surprise. "You’re a detective?"
She grinned at him. "Special Agent."
"No wonder you knew about my father." He chuckled. He reached out and patted her head. "What a cute and adorable agent you are."
Cute? Adorable? No one has ever told her that. A light blush appeared on her cheeks as she shyly turned away from him. "Stop flattering me." Or else she will totally fall for him!
Ren Shiyuan smiled at her. He held her hand and pulled it to his lips. For some reason, he couldn’t help but agree with what she said; their situations were too similar. Both were loving the people that cannot love them back and both have their parents against what they want. This was the first time that he met a person where he can easily speak his feelings out, a person who can understand him.
Even if it was just for a short time, he felt like he has known Nian Jiezhen for a long time...
Nian Jiezhen turned to him and stared into his eyes. She felt like there was this kind force pulling her to him... was she really falling for a woman now?
"Say, Nian Jiezhen." Ren Shiyuan intertwined their fingers. "What if... we were actually lovers in our previous life?"
