The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 114: Finally Free!

Chapter 114: Finally Free!

When Ark heard what they were talking about, he was a little apprehensive. Though he was excited at the prospect of escaping this hellhole, he was a little sceptic. It was only natural at this point, his trust in humans was at an all-time low. He didn't let anything show in his expression though, and he just looked apathetic about the situation, like he didn't care at all.

But deep inside, Ark's heart was in turmoil. All he wanted to do right now was rip out this prince's heart before feeding it to this fucked up father of his, but he reined his feelings in, before they went out of control, screwing up what might be his only chance to escape would be seriously stupid.

The middle-aged man had already begun to seriously reevaluate his impression of this kingdom, or at the very least its royal family, since they were doing stuff like this, who knew what other stuff they did here? Though angry, he didn't let it show, since that would both affect his image as well as alert these people.

Even though he was very strong, taking on an entire kingdom without any soldiers was still an impossible feat, and not an idea he entertained for long. Since the door to the cell was opened, they couldn't just let the wolf leave by itself, and if he let these people take care of it, then it would probably just be killed or brought to a torture chamber somewhere else instead.

Since that was the case, the middle-aged man clapped his hands.

A man's silhouette suddenly appeared out of nowhere right next to the middle-aged man, clad in form-fitting black clothes. "Carlos, make sure this wolf makes it out of the city safely, and if it tries to go on a rampage or kill anyone, just kill it and put it out of its misery!" The silhouette, Carlos, only nodded slowly as he watched Ark trying to stand up inside of the cell.

How long had they been torturing this poor creature for? Did they even give it any food?

The last thought came about after he noticed Ark's haggard and skinny frame, it seemed like he had been starving for some time.

As they left the dungeons, Oscar turned around briefly while no one was looking. Sidulig was busy packing up all of his tools, and he managed to notice Oscar turning around. Oscar made a gesture of slitting a throat with his hand before he sneakily pointed to Ark, before quickly turning around again.

Sidulig could easily interpret his young master's wish, and he smiled wickedly as he watched Ark stumble his way out alongside the others. It was a little hard for him to walk in the narrow corridor considering his frame, but he made it work, a small nuisance such as this wouldn't be able to hinder his way out of this nightmare.

Though the rest went back to the banquet almost immediately, Ark just followed Carlos meekly, hoping that he could just get out of this city already, just being here pained him. Carlos didn't waste any time at all and just led Ark straight through the city.

Though many people glanced and looked at Ark with fear and trepidation in their gazes, just seeing the collar around his neck was enough for people to be at ease. This collar was very well-known for capturing beasts, and in places where it was legal, controlling slaves.

After they arrived outside of the city's gates, Carlos watched Ark with pity.

"After I take off the collar, you better just leave, otherwise don't blame me for the consequences!" Ark only nodded his head fiercely, there was no way he was going to stay here for even a second longer than necessary, when he had the strength in the future, he would surely return, and when he did, he would watch the entire palace burn before his eyes!

Carlos didn't hesitate after seeing Ark nodding, and just kicked the collar that was on his neck fiercely. With a "clang" the collar immediately broke apart from the force. How Ark didn't feel any pain or force from the kick at all, he had no idea at all, but he couldn't be bothered at this point.

Feeling his strength and mana returning to his body once more, Ark felt like he was on top of the world, this feeling that he had lost had finally returned!

As Carlos felt the pressure that was starting to emanate from Ark, he was a little surprised. If this wolf truly was out for blood, he would be hard-pressed to deal with it easily, he would probably need some help if he was to take it down. Thankfully for him, Ark didn't intend to stay around at all, and he promptly started to run at full speed away from the city.

After seeing Ark disappear completely beyond the horizon, Carlos heaved a sigh of relief and vanished from where he stood, his speciality was assassination and recon, he wasn't fit to fight such a monster.

While Carlos went back to his master's side, another person slowly walked out from within the city, Sidulig didn't waste any time, and instantly zoomed off into the distance, in the same direction Ark was going. Even though Ark was very fast, Sidulig was even faster, which was to be expected, the level difference between them was a little too big after all.

Feeling the wind caress his fur as he ran at his highest manageable speed possible, Ark was almost feeling a little at ease. But he didn't dare let his guard down, his entire escape felt a little too easy, and he was sure that there was more to it than he thought, which was why he tried to keep his energy consumption at a reasonable rate as he ran.

After running for a while though, Ark had to slow down a little, his body wasn't as strong as it usually was since he hadn't been eating or moving around properly, which put a large strain on his strength.

Though he really wanted to eat something, he had lost his spatial bag when he was captured, and he didn't know if he was being pursued, stopping to randomly eat might get him killed, and Ark wasn't particularly fond of the thought of dying.

After almost an entire hour of running, Ark decided to stop for five minutes to take a break, he needed to catch his breath a little, his body wasn't what it used to be.

The road that he had been running on all this time had become a lot smaller, and he was currently in the middle of a small meadow. Surrounded by beautiful flowers and greenery, Ark felt a little at ease for once. The scent of the flowers and mother nature invaded his nose, pleasing him to his very core.

It was too bad though, Ark wouldn't be able to enjoy this moment for too long as Sidulig arrived not even a minute after Ark decided to take his break.

Seeing the familiar old man speeding straight for him at high speeds, Ark's expression darkened.
