The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 243: A Bad Feeling.

Chapter 243: A Bad Feeling.

The night quickly passed, and dawn soon broke. As the gentle sunlight shone upon the small cottages in the campsite, windows and doors soon started opening. People poked out their heads, and eventually, everyone gathered up to talk. Before anyone did anything, Ark and Elise made breakfast for everyone to make sure that they had energy for the day.

The breakfast was simple but enjoyable, and soon, everyone was happily chatting with each other.

The people with farming experience took the time to teach everyone since it would be useful to know once they had created their small village. Ark couldn't always provide them with everything, and he had already planned for farming to be their main source of food.

With the help of his magic, he could make the earth more fertile, and he could even use time magic to speed up the process a little bit, in the beginning, to get everyone started.

As for meat, there were multiple ways of going about acquiring it, and Ark hadn't made any decisions yet. They could have hunters that periodically went out to hunt. They could also have something similar to a ranch where they raised animals from scratch. There might be other more magical ways of going about it too, so Ark was going to look into it when he got the chance.

Whilst everyone was learning some crucial farming knowledge, Edward and Mark started planning for the village's layout already.

Since they didn't know how long they would be here, they felt like it would be good to prepare beforehand. If they suddenly moved places and then had nothing prepared, then they would have to make a temporary campsite again whilst everyone waited for them to finish their work. That would be quite inconvenient.

Ark admired everyone's willingness to learn and work, and after making sure that everything was in order, he prepared himself to enter the dungeon again.

Since he had levelled up another four times, and since he had yet to spend the 25 stat points he had from the last time he levelled up, Ark currently had 45 stat points to spend. Although he wanted to invest them everywhere, the most logical choice was to put them into his intelligence.

Wisdom was also tempting, but for now, Ark desperately needed more mana, so intelligence was the only choice he could go with.

After taking a look at his status page, Ark felt satisfied with the progress he had made so far. He had really become a lot stronger. He also noticed that his magic fusion had levelled up once. Not only that, but his intermediate spear mastery had also reached level 6.

Both the upgrade in spear mastery and magic fusion only provided a very small benefit when it came to real power, but over time, these small differences would accumulate.

After he had looked through his status and invested his stat points, Ark got ready to enter the dungeon again. Ephine looked at him with a slightly worried expression as he left, and he couldn't help but stop to comfort her.

"Don't worry about me, there shouldn't be anything in a dungeon like this that can hurt me."

After giving her some reassuring words and a peck on the cheek, Ark left to enter the dungeon, hoping to level a few more times today. As she watched Ark walking towards the dungeon, Ephine felt uneasy. She had a feeling that something would go wrong, but she had faith in Ark and trusted his words. With a heavy heart, she walked over to play with the children to ease her slight anxiety.

Ark could tell that Ephine was a little uneasy when he left, but he was unsure of the reason why.

She had never shown a reaction like this on the previous days when he had gone into the dungeon. The intuition of a woman could be scary sometimes, so he entered with a bit more cautiousness than usual. The moment Ark entered the Inferno level, he could sense danger all around him. He instantly activated his holy spear and looked around with vigilance.

All around him, the sea of fire was surging around crazily, bringing with it an unbearable amount of heat. Ark himself could feel his throat being dry, and he looked at the raging fire with some apprehension.

The sea of fire moved faster and faster and eventually started condensing together to form a faint shape. Although more and more fire was condensed into the shape of a smaller figure, Ark could feel the temperature rising even higher than before. The transformation brought about a terrifying momentum and pressure, making it hard for him to move around.

The mana in the surroundings was in the disarray, and all of the fire mana gathered together with the flames to finally create a humanoid figure.

As the humanoid being was completely formed, Ark could suddenly feel a suffocating pressure on a completely different level from before. The humanoid figure was only about one and a half meters tall, and it was completely made up of a pure white flame. The white fire illuminated the entire dungeon, and Ark could only look on in incredulity as it got used to its new form.

The pressure he had just felt seemed to confirm what kind of being he was dealing with. A sovereign. Since he was a sovereign himself, a creature that could pressure him to this extent could only be another sovereign.

Normally, a sovereign wouldn't be born from a dungeon like this. Ark could only assume that this sovereign made of white flames had devoured every single monster in the entire dungeon, to somehow evolve into its current form. How was this possible? Ark had no idea, but since the white flame contained pure soul pressure, it had to be a sovereign. There was no way Ark was wrong on this part.

Ark wasn't sure if he was ready to fight against another sovereign yet. Most sovereigns had been alive for a lot longer than Ark, so their experience and combat power should be higher than his. However, this newborn sovereign in front of him was probably one of the only exceptions in the entire world. Ark could feel his spirit and confidence growing a little stronger.

Since this sovereign had just been born, he should be able to fight it right? Its level might be higher than his, but Ark still had some confidence.

More importantly, a sovereign wouldn't be contained in a mere dungeon, and it would probably escape if Ark didn't stop it. If that was all, Ark wouldn't take the risk and would just let it go. But since he had already killed a bunch of creatures from the dungeon, that were seemingly a part of this sovereign, Ark didn't think it would be so kind to just let him leave.

If he left the dungeon, the people outside were bound to get hurt.
