The Alto Among the Luxurious Cars

Ren Baqian felt at ease after touching the bulletproof vest on his body and the weapons placed by his side.

On his other side there were a sleeping bag and some spices.

Ren Baqian made sure to wear the gun pocket holster properly, checked the gun, and loaded it with a magazine. Following which, he put on his clothes and tied the bulletproof vest to the sleeping bag. He could put on the bulletproof vest when he reached his destination.

Just as he finished making his preparations, someone knocked loudly on his door and yelled, "Sir Ren, it's time for the Great Hunt."

Ren Baqian could tell that it was Tie Dao's voice. He did not expect Tie Dao to come and notify him.

Ren Baqian opened the door. The sky was already lit up with the first glimmer of light.

Tie Dao stood outside the door and said, "Sir, the Great Hunt is going to start soon, don't be late. Hold this thing, it can definitely help you to get a good placing in the Great Hunt. With it, you might even get first place."

Woken up by the commotion, Gungun and Tiantian threw a small tantrum and hugged Tie Dao's feet and gnawed on them. However, Tie Dao did not even cast a single glance towards them. His skin was rough and his muscles were thick. The two small chaps could not bite through his skin, and he merely felt itchy from their gnawing.

Ren Baqian looked at the small porcelain bottle in Tie Dao's hand. Then, he took it over and asked, "What's this?"

Since Tie Dao told him he could get a good placing in the Great Hunt with it, it must have something to do with hunting. Perhaps it was an incapacitating agent that could knock out beasts or humans within a hundred meters of him? Then he could slowly pick his "catches" and obtain a good placing?

Tie Dao gave a bright smile and replied, "This was passed down from my ancestors. It can attract wild beasts within a certain radius of you. I don't have a chance to use it, and so I give it to Sir."

Immediately, Ren Baqian felt the porcelain bottle in his hand begin to turn hot, and he almost threw it away.

Are you wishing me death?

I might not even be able to kill a rabbit, and you want me to attract the wild beasts in the mountain?

If that really happens, my corpse will definitely not be found by anyone.

Ren Baqian produced a long sigh and asked Tie Dao with a calm tone, "Tell me, how much do you hate me?"

With a puzzled look on his face, Tie Dao replied, "Sir, this is good stuff. Nowadays, it can't be found easily. This bottle was passed down from my grandfather to my father, and my father passed it to me. Sir, you're a good man. Since you're entering the Great Hunt this time around, I decided to gift it to you."

Ren Baqian sighed again. He just couldn't get through to this idiot.

Do you think I will say these words if I am powerful enough?

However, after having a second thought about it, Ren Baqian felt that it might be useful to him. If he encountered any danger, he could throw it at the source of danger and a miracle might occur.

"Thank you then." Ren Baqian patted Tie Dao's shoulder and placed the bottle within his clothes. Then, he pointed to the sleeping bag that had been tied up behind him and said, "Help me carry it."

"Alright." Tie Dao effortlessly lifted the sleeping bag and followed Ren Baqian to the beast park. The mountain-gazing bird was there.

Ren Baqian left the mountain-gazing bird out of its pen and stroked its head. Immediately, the mountain-gazing bird squinted its eyes comfortably.

Tie Dao fastened the sleeping bag to the body of the mountain-gazing bird. Ren Baqian hung the crossbow and the arrow quiver on its side. Then, he took out a bottle of perfume from the side of the sleeping bag and sprayed the mountain-gazing bird with it. Following which, he climbed onto the mountain-gazing bird and sat on it.

"Atchoo!" Ren Baqian sneezed as the strong smell of perfume assailed his nose.

The mountain-gazing bird did not seem to like the smell of the perfume very much as it tottered about restlessly. Ren Baqian quickly stroked its head to calm it down.

"Help me take care of Tiantian and Gungun!" Ren Baqian reminded Tie Dao.

"Sir, your water bag!" Tie Dao scanned Ren Baqian's water bag and yelled.

Ren Baqian smacked his own head. He almost forgot about his water bag. He rode the mountain-gazing bird to the well, filled up his water bag, and left the beast park with swag.

After leaving the beast park, Ren Baqian headed straight to the plaza outside the imperial palace. The gathering point was there.

From afar, he could see that the plaza was brightly lit. Torches were placed around the plaza. At the same time, Ren Baqian could hear the sounds of human activity and beast roars from a distance.

When he got closer to the plaza, he could see there was already a large group of people gathering around the plaza. By the time he reached the plaza, he could clearly tell there were approximately three hundred people on one side of the plaza. All of them were aboriginals and were composed of both males and females. All of them were speaking loudly.

The males were tall and burly. Some of them were wearing skin-tight silk clothes and some were wearing animal hides. Ren Baqian knew these people were the sons of the court officials. Those that chose to wear animal hides do so either because they liked wearing them or they wanted to wear something traditional for the Great Hunt.

The females were somewhat similar to the males. Most of them had stunningly good figures. They were filled with vigor and vitality. Ren Baqian could not spot a single fat girl. All of them had their hair tied up, looking extremely spirited.

At this point in time, all of them were talking loudly. Many of them looked as though they knew each other.

Beneath their bodies, there were various types of mounts. Some were riding red-colored crooked cows and some were riding horses that they obtained from other countries. There were also some people that had goats as their mounts. There was even one person that rode on an elephant. The rider was a girl. The height of her mount made her look like a crane standing among a flock of chickens. Ren Baqian wondered where she got her mount from.

There was also one person that rode on a saber-toothed tiger. The saber-toothed tiger seemed unhappy when it saw so many animals standing around it. Suddenly, it let off a deep growl from its throat. Immediately, the burly man sitting atop it gave its head a slap and said, "Be quiet, don't give me any trouble."

When Ren Baqian saw how fierce and powerful other people's mounts were, he took a glance at the mountain-gazing bird beneath him. His mount was like an Alto parked in the midst of luxurious cars. Subconsciously, he found a spot on the edge of the plaza and observed the situation from there.

A breeze blew across the plaza.

"Atchoo!"

"Atchoo!"

The people standing near Ren Baqian began to sneeze. Following which, they glared at Ren Baqian.

They had already spotted Ren Baqian just now. A few of them had heard of this Honglu Deputy, who'd became rather famous recently. No one really cared much about him, but they found the smell of his mountain-gazing bird to be too strong.

Furthermore, the smell wasn't the usual stench of a mountain-gazing bird. It was a nose-assailing aroma that caused their noses to be itchy.

Ren Baqian was speechless. If he had known earlier this would happen, he wouldn't have sprayed so much perfume on the mountain-gazing bird. Then, he rode the mountain-gazing bird away from those people.

These three hundred people were not the only ones in the plaza. There were approximately five hundred soldiers on the scene as well. All of them were seated on enormous goats. Only their chests and left shoulders were covered with leather, revealing the rest of their muscular bodies.

On the other end of the plaza, there was a group of people. There were also a few carriages that Ren Baqian had seen before. Needless to say, these people were from other countries.

Ren Baqian did not recognize a single person from this group of people and none of them cared about this Honglu Deputy as well. On the other side, however, there was a group of people that Ren Baqian knew very well. All of them desired to skin and bone Ren Baqian alive.

Furthermore, now that he was a Dayao official, he couldn't mix around with them.

Ren Baqian waited at the edge of the plaza all by himself.

Luckily, he did not have to wait too long. As the sky brightened up, the palace door opened up. A few ranks of fully-armored guards rode out of the door on their mounts. Ren Baqian was familiar with their armors. He recognized them as the imperial guards.

And at the same time, the plaza began to quiet down.
